System's POV

Chapter 1083: A Cold Yet Gentle Heart

Chapter 1083: A Cold Yet Gentle Heart

During the time when Tiona was in a state of hibernation, Zion decided to leave her inside Rocky’s mobile fortress for her own safety.

Although her body remained unresponsive for weeks, her spiritual consciousness had been active.

This meant she knew about everything the demons under her had seen, let alone the information they had gathered.

Through their interactions with Zion, Tiona deemed that her Master didn’t want to annihilate the Jinns.

No.

What he wanted was to make the Jinns and the humans co-exist. However, he was choosing which Jinns should remain in the world.

In the end, a battle between the Wanderers and the Jinns would still come to pass.

The One had already stated that Thirteen wasn’t allowed to interfere unless absolutely necessary.

The Wanderers needed to grow and fight for their own world, for they would need the knowledge and experience for future events that would decide the fate of Pangea.

Since Thirteen had chosen House Pavareth, the Skavari, and the Azrakith Court, as well as the Velmoria Royal Kingdom, as the Jinns he wished to spare, Tiona would also treat them kindly.

This was also why she had talked to Princess Xynalia a day ago about her Master, who was slowly but surely understanding the intricacies of being human.

There was one more thing that Tiona saw during her state of hibernation.

She saw the life story of a young lady who had the same name as her.

The young lady had the power to charm and control snakes, and she also had a System that had always supported her. Coincidentally, that System was called Thirteen.

This was also the reason why it took Tiona a long time to wake up.

Perhaps, if her Master hadn’t encountered a dangerous situation, she might have remained asleep to better know the person who shared her own name.

Tiona was very smart.

She was starting to connect the dots together.

“What a naive person.”

That was Tiona’s first impression of the young lady in her memories.

She had become one of the Demon King’s Generals in order to protect the family that had forsaken her.

The family that treated her as a monster.

She couldn’t understand why that young lady didn’t listen to Thirteen, who repeatedly advised that she should just run away and leave the Demon King and her family behind.

And yet, when this person looked at the mirror, all Tiona saw was herself.

She didn’t understand.

No.

Perhaps she was in a state of denial.

When she first met her Master, Thirteen had given her the name Tiona on a whim.

After spending time with him, Tiona understood many things, including the fact that Zion hated the words Fate and Destiny with a vengeance.

It was as if those two words owed him so much money that simply the mention of them would stir a negative response from the usually calm, unresponsive teenage boy.

Tiona wondered if Fate truly existed.

She also wondered if there was such a thing as Destiny.

Although they were the things that her Master had hated, she didn’t hate the fact that she was now with him.

In this chaotic world where his life could easily be ended by a single mistake.

As the memories of the pitiful young lady named Tiona unraveled, the black snake couldn’t help but sigh more than once. She also thought that the young lady was such a foolish girl.

Foolish, stupid, silly, unwise, dumb, mindless, and absurd.

Tiona could probably think of a hundred more words to describe the young lady whom she had labeled as an idiot.

And yet, deep inside, she was starting to understand that the idiot was her.

Tiona had experienced the five stages of denial.

Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance.

In the end, she had embraced the fact that Tiona was her.

Her existence, which should have disappeared somewhere in the multiverse, reappeared in Thirteen’s path.

Destiny? Fate?

Tiona didn’t care.

The only thing that mattered now was that she had been reunited with him. Everything else was not worth mentioning.

And this time, she no longer had a family tying her down.

She could devote her whole life to the teenage boy, who was fighting so desperately against the Goddess of Fate and the System God.

This battle might seem hopeless, but she was determined to see it through until the bitter end.

As long as the two of them were together, it didn’t matter if both of them would go to hell afterward.

Tiona gently kissed Zia’s forehead as they lay on the bed together.

She wanted her to open her eyes, so she could see her current form.

During the meeting between the Jinns and the Wanderers, Tiona had introduced herself as Zion’s significant other, catching everyone by surprise.

She couldn’t help but smile faintly at the expressions of Lawrence and Tristan, Shana’s grandfather and father.

For them, the teenage boy only had three fiancees.

Erica, Sherry, and Shana.

They had yet to know that Princess Aracelle, who was the princess of House Pavareth, had joined the roster of Thirteen’s lovers.

But before all those ladies became his lovers…

Tiona had been with him. Always, and from the very beginning. Calling herself Zion’s significant other wasn’t wrong in the slightest.

“I hope you wake up soon,” Tiona said as she hugged the young lady, who was sleeping peacefully. “I want to talk to you very much and apologize for my stupidity back then.”

This time, she would not let go of the hand of the person who cared about her the most.

Tiona then pressed her forehead over Zia’s and closed her eyes.

She gained a new ability, and that was to view a person’s memory.

Tiona wanted to know what other experiences Zion had encountered after her death.

The memories flooded her brain, making her weep as she learned just how much her beloved had suffered.

In the end, she also started to hate Fate and the System God for turning such a gentle existence into a vengeful being, despite his wish being pure—to free his Hosts from the never-ending cycle that awaited them in both life and death.

On that day, Tiona vowed that for as long as she drew breath, she would be by Zion’s side, protecting him from the world and the Gods who were playing with his cold yet gentle heart.
