Absolute Resonance
Chapter 1599: The Youth Has Transformed Into A Heavenly DragonChapter 1599: The Youth Has Transformed Into A Heavenly Dragon
The originally noisy walls were so silent that one could hear a pin drop. One couldn't even hear the sounds of breathing, it was as though everyone was paused in time. Everyone looked at the gigantic violet gold dragon's head in utter surprise as their hearts were battered by turbulent waves. Only two words resounded within their minds.
Li Luo! Li Luo! Was this Li Luo? The First Princess' calm and regal eyes widened like saucers. In this desperate situation where all of her plans were deemed worthless in the face of absolute power, the appearance of this new variable left her in complete turmoil and disbelief. Cai Wei, Yan Lingqing, Bai Mengmeng and the rest were in a daze as they were focused on the shocking sight of the dragon. They couldn't fathom how this terrifying creature could be Li Luo. Even Qin Zhenjiang, Duze Yan and the rest of the veteran Dukes had expressions filled with incredulity. After all they had witnessed the dragonbreath emitted by this creature completely drown out and devastate the Others.
Who knew how many True Devil Others were contained within the tide and some were no weaker than them! Yet everything had been instantly transformed into a spectacle filled with crystalline statues. What sort of power was this?
Was this something the youth from back then could even possibly do?
In their memories, they only knew of the boy at the Housemeet many years back. At that point in time, he was barely able to survive the machinations and struggles of the Xia Kingdom and its numerous powers.
Thus they found it difficult to connect the image of that youth with this divine creature capable of destroying the world. Duze Honglian and Duze Beixuan were similarly frightened by this sight as the latter turned pale and was trembling uncontrollably.
"Elder Sister... that is impossible right?"
Duze Honglian herself thought the same way but she swallowed the words she planned to say. In these years, her cold and arrogant temper had changed and she remembered some of the vague pieces of information obtained from the Sage College about Li Luo... this fellow was never ordinary.
Perhaps, it really was him?
Atop the walls, Chi Chan, Sheng Qiao'er, Ning Meng and Yue Zhiyu were a little surprised as well. They had already witnessed Li Luo transforming into a Heavenly Dragon before but it was barely tens of thousands of feet long then. On the other hand, the titanic creature before them was almost ten times as large! Furthermore the strength that the creature exuded didn't seem to match their memory of him either. All sorts of thoughts ran through the heads of the people present but no one dared to be the first to break the silence. After all, no one could confirm nor deny Yu Lang's absurd guess.
Fortunately this stifling atmosphere did not last long as the mysterious dragon slowly turned its head towards the friends he was familiar with and a glint of amusement could be seen in his humongous eyes.
Then a human voice backed by the soul stirring might of a dragon sounded out from the dragon's mouth filled with sharp fangs. "My friends from the Xia Kingdom, it has been many years. I hope you've been well since we last met?"
The words were like a resonant draconic roar, thunderously ringing through everyone's ears, leaving them all shell shocked. The sheer volume might be startling but the familiar tone elicited memories of the past.
The image of a grayish white haired handsome youth with a slender body appeared in their minds. Li Luo!
This giant dragon truly was him! Cai Wei's beautiful eyes welled up with redness as her body shook, her hands attempting to cover her mouth that was about to cry. "Squad leader! It really is squad leader! He's back!" Bai Mengmeng cheered with emotion. The silence on the wall ended with an outpour of cries. First Princess, Qin Zhenjiang, Vice principal Su Xin and the rest couldn't help but to heave a sigh of relief.
In just a few short years, he had actually managed to grow to such a horrifying level? If that same torrent of dragonbreath had struck the walls instead, perhaps everyone would have been turned into a similar statue with the exception of Pang Qianyuan and Lan Lingzi! Most surprising of all was the fact that Yu Lang was the first one to guess Li Luo's identity. He glared at the dragon in front of him as he stammered. "Damn it, is it really you? How did you turn into a dragon? Why did you even turn from a proper human into a dragon?" Yu Lang looked absolutely heartbroken to everyone present, as though he was chiding a friend from straying from the proper path. In fact what he found most unbearable was the fact that... this bastard looked so damn COOL! He had imagined the scene of Li Luo returning to the battlefield at a pivotal moment countless times... but he could never have imagined that this guy would transform into an awesome and mysterious giant dragon, descending from the clouds and spewing out a mouth of dragonbreath to dismantle the tide of Others... leaving them as shiny crystals!
He couldn't take it! This entrance was far too grand and he felt as though it would be impossible to surpass him in this lifetime. He could even imagine how this shocking scene would be recorded in the annals of the Xia Kingdom's history and how future generations would lavish endless praise upon it. Meanwhile a displeased look could be seen in Li Luo's eyes. After all, he could see the jealousy on Yu Lang's face to the point that this was outrageous! As He then sized up Yu Lang and could sense the changes in him. The once wild and unrestrained youthful visage had been touched by time, becoming much more weathered and gray hair could be seen at his temples, revealing the difficult times he had to go through. This good friend of his didn't have any sort of impressive background, and could be said to be just an ordinary person from the Xia Kingdom. Otherwise the Bai Family would not have looked down upon him. That said he was like an inconspicuous weed, remaining tenacious despite the elements that constantly buffeted him. He greatly appreciated Yu Lang's resilient personality. "Yu Lang... it's great to see you haven't died." Li Luo addressed him softly. Yu Lang was stunned by his greeting as a few tears appeared in his eyes which he forcefully blinked away before shouting, "What a rude mouth. Do you know how great my position in the Astral Sage College is right now? How can I possibly die? On the contrary, i'm more worried that you wouldn't be able to survive in the inner divine continent which is full of Dukes and driven back here!" He then took two steps forward before lightly touching the scales on Li Luo's head with a smile. "Good brother... Thank you for saving us. That said, it's been many years since we met and I only have one request."
Yu Lang said imploringly.
"What."
"Let me ride you!" Yu Lang's eyes glittered with excitement as he shouted. "Scram!"
The humongous dragon then exhaled whilst he released his full might, causing Yu Lang's hand which was lovingly stroking his scales, to be knocked away as he gave a furious smile. Very good Yu Lang! He treated him as a true brother but he actually wanted to ride him? In this world, only Sister Qing'e was deserving! On the other hand Yu Lang reluctantly kept his hands away as he thought to himself how petty Li Luo was. It wasn't as though he would lose anything by letting him mount him... Ignoring him, Li Luo then turned to the rest as his gaze swept across the group present. In the end, he stopped as he addressed a green robed white browed middle aged man as he chortled thunderously, "Principal Pang, I hope i'm not too late?"
From the moment he arrived, Pang Qianyuan had already focused his attention on him. Unlike the others who were taken aback by this sight, he was the first to sense a familiar fluctuation coming from him.
It should probably have been the Golden-Jade Onyx-Elephant Blade which he had gifted to Li Luo a long time ago. That said the blade was already greatly transformed from before and it was clear that the weapon had gone through a number of experiences as well. Even though he had deduced all this, Pang Qianyuan's expression remained complicated as he watched the giant dragon. The little boy who had met him in the Umbra Cave all those years ago had come into his own in just a few years. "You definitely aren't too late. However if you came alone, then i'd suggest you help us evacuate some residents instead." Pang Qianyuan grinned. The Heavenly Dragon might be an awe inspiring sight to the rest of the experts in the Xia Kingdom but to Pang Qianyuan who was in the King stage, he could sense that Li Luo had yet to reach the threshold of someone of his level. Thus Li Luo's appearance might not be able to reverse the situation.
After he said those words, the many gazes that revealed briefly renewed hope began to dim.
In the distance where the corruption billowed endlessly, the Four Pestilence Kings were completely indifferent to Li Luo's appearance. The loss of the first wave of Others did nothing to deter him. Whatever Pang Qianyuan could sense, they could as well.
This Heavenly Dragon definitely had stronger resonant power fluctuations than a Pinnacle Duke but it wasn't equal to that of a King.
Since that was the case, defeat was still inevitable. With a thought from the Four Pestilence Kings, the corruption in the distance surged yet again as a new wave of twisted Others flooded across the battlefield towards the City of Southwind.
However this time things were different. The Four Pestilence Kings were going to take action as they stepped through the void, striding forward.
On the wall, the atmosphere had turned tense yet again.
Li Luo then turned his head towards the Four Pestilence Kings and the innumerable swarm of Others which were scrambling towards them as his gaze turned cold.
Immediately after, he bellowed authoritatively, causing the world to shake.
"Where are the Heavenly Dragon's Five Guardian Armies?"
Bang!
At that point, Pang Qianyuan and Lan Lingzi's expressions froze as though having sensed something. They turned their attention towards the distant horizon.
In that direction, the void was suddenly starting to warp as boundless amounts of worldly natural energy started to gather.
Weng!
The void then crumpled and shattered into fragments like a broken mirror as everyone was once again astonished yet again. A gigantic dragonboat the size of a mountain range, resembling a prehistoric monstrous beast, sailed out of the spatial rift. On the boat, countless banners flapped with the wind. On each was a life-like dragon that emanated boundless amounts of draconic might and raged in the skies. Beneath the banners were countless experts wielding glinting blades as they stared at the enemies with ferocity and savagery.
"Here!"
"Here!"
"Here!"
The over ten thousand figures roared in response, their voices echoing through the broken firmament. All of them drew their blades and launched a barrage of attacks, causing all sorts of weaponized energies to arc across the skies in beams, crashing down towards the Other tide that inundated the mountains and plains. Bang bang bang!
The earth cracked and the mountains were leveled. It was as if ten thousands cannons fired out simultaneously, each flash of light accurately smiting the Others into oblivion. This inspiring sight caused the people on the wall to pause in their tracks yet again.
This was especially the case for Qin Zhenjiang. As the general of the royal court, he had commanded troops for numerous years and at this moment, his entire body was trembling as he glanced at the thousands of figures standing atop the dragonboat as he could sense the murderous aura exuding from every one of them. This was a true army of elites.
They executed any order without fail and struck as one.
Tui! Tui! The army then bellowed as they disembarked from the dragonboat in such large numbers they blotted out the skies, finally landing a hundred miles away from the City of Southwind's wall, as if forming an impenetrable bulwark, easily crushing the Other tide. However this was not all. A series of figures emanating frightening resonant power fluctuations ascended to the skies from the dragonboat as a series of towering Duke Bergfrieds filled the void, radiating an indomitable pressure. Seventh-grade Dukes!
Eighth-grade Dukes!
Ninth-grade Dukes! First Princess, Qin Zhenjiang, Duze Yan, Vice principal Su Xin and the rest couldn't help but to gasp in shock. There were actually so many high-grade Dukes present! Were these all reinforcements that Li Luo had brought?
The sheer number of Dukes brought by the dragonboat far surpassed the entire Xia Kingdom in terms of both quantity and quality. And when the group on the walls thought everything had concluded.
They then saw two more blinding figures standing at the top of the dragonboat. As they stepped through the void, one could see that they were both females, one of which had boundless amounts of worldly natural energy condensing above her head, transforming into a supreme crown that flowed with source origin energy.
The other one radiated a sacred light which transformed into six Ten-Pillar Golden Duke Bergfrieds.
This sight caused Pang Qianyuan and Lan Lingzi to reveal looks of joy.
"A King stage expert!"
"Sixth-grade Transcendent!"
They then appeared before Li Luo.
Meanwhile the likes of Cai Wei and Yan Lingqing stared blankly at the figure resembling a goddess of light with six Ten-Pillar Golden Duke Bergfrieds above her. Their eyes turned red immediately. This was someone that they had sorely missed for so many years, someone who had truly returned for them.
"Qing'e!" The two ladies immediately squealed.
Jiang Qing'e was filled with smiles as she looked at them before waving in greeting. Everyone was now ecstatic upon seeing that Li Luo had not only returned, but also brought an entire impressive army to help! This was completely unimaginable. A King, a sixth-grade Transcendent, countless high-grade Dukes and an elite army that left even Qin Zhenjiang shaking in his boots! This was a magnificent miracle! Even Vice principal Su Xin fell into a daze as she glanced at the Heavenly Dragon before her. The young man who had needed to rely upon the Astral Sage College's prestige to intimidate some covetous rats in order to buy time to grow... had matured to such an extent.
Li Luo then let out another roar as his laughter boomed majestically, resounding through the entire city. "Principal Pang can rest assured now that I, Li Luo, am back, I will naturally protect the City of Southwind from danger."
