Chapter 1901: Old Acquaintance? II
Grey and Klaus tried to recall where they’ve met this man before, unfortunately they could not remember no matter how hard they tried.
The man, on the other hand, walked forward and explained with an awkward expression, “A few years ago, I was supposed to get married to Luthera from the Braun Family.”
“Oh… ohhh… it’s you!” Klaus was genuinely surprised after recalling the events of the past, he could not associate the arrogant person he encountered those years to the person standing before him. They could be described as world’s apart from each other.
Alice and Reynolds were taken aback, both exchanging glances. They heard about how Klaus and Grey stopped the marriage from happening and were sad they could not participate in it. Seeing the person who was supposed to get married to Klaus’s future partner, they could not help but find the situation a bit awkward.
Grey nodded at the man before asking, “They said you were the one who spread word about this settlement. How did you find them?”
Gregory told Grey of how he stumbled upon this camp of Necromancers while doing a round sweep around the area. Since the start of the invasion, most Cities and Towns have been sending out their best scouts to search the area in case there were any Gnomes or Necromancers hiding.
Grey and his friends listened to his explanation and felt a bit sad for the people that were lost. According to Gregory, this has been going on for a few months now, and most of these settlements usually find ways to escape whenever found. This time, they were surprised the Necromancers did not try to escape, and they understood why during the fight.
Of everyone present, none of them was a Sovereign, the strongest being Gregory who was only a Seventh stage Venerable. The strongest Necromancer was a First stage Sovereign, enough to deal with them. Even though the Necromancers were heavily outnumbered, the strength of a single Sovereign was enough to make up for it.
Seeing the state of the people present, Alice offered they escort them back to their City to ensure they returned safe. Gnomes were hiding everywhere, and the chances they could encounter some was high.
Gregory agreed, albeit uncomfortable. Being saved by someone you fought with a few years ago for the hand of a woman is quite embarrassing, but he was happy he was saved. Not just for his life, but for the life of the lady and two kids with her.
Grey and the others had no problem with escorting them back to their City, although it would delay their journey, it would be only for a few hours or so.
….
Later that day.
The Braun Family Manor.
The Braun Family were not as powerful as the Robertson Family who had an expert like Gregory. Their strongest expert, who was the Family Head, was only in the Mid stages of the Venerable Plane.
When the group arrived, they were received excitedly by those from the Braun Family, after all, they were all top experts. The name of Grey Dawson is well known, even in this part of the Aurora Continent, so hearing that they got a chance to meet him, most of the youths in the Family rushed out to see him.
Klaus’s name was not as widespread as Grey’s but he was known nonetheless. Being the only male in a Faction that only admitted female members meant that he would be the topic of discussion for a lot of young men who wished they were in his position. The Moonlight Faction is filled with beauties, and some of these young men would do anything to go there.
Klaus had made his intentions known to Luthera thanks to the communication device Grey gave her, so she knew the reason the group was here.
They wasted no time as they immediately prepared to have the celebration the next day. Given the current state of the world, there was no need to invite too many people over.
The day went by pretty quickly and it was soon morning. As soon as the sun rose, three ladies dressed in white arrived. They were from the Moonlight Faction. Two Elders, one being the lady that brought him here those years ago, and the other being one who had a very good relationship with him. The third lady was a young lady who was his senior in the Faction.
The marriage was nothing fancy as there was no need for it to be, both Klaus and Luthera were happy with it being small, as long as their loved ones were present, they were satisfied.
Grey, Alice, and Reynolds watched as Klaus got married, all wearing a big smile on their faces.
Later that night, Grey, Klaus, and Reynolds sat under the moon, each drinking a cup of wine.
“Grey, I know I’ve joked about this so many times, but it’s starting to get worrying.” Klaus said as he took a big gulp of his wine.
“What’s worrying?” Grey raised a brow, looking at his friend from the side of his eyes.
“You, always being alone. You’ve never shown interest in anyone, and to be honest, it’s a bit worrying that you can grow to this point without a single relationship.” Klaus looked at his friend seriously, of everyone, he was the one who knew Grey the longest. He has tried getting Grey someone on a few occasions, failing each time. No matter how beautiful the girl he brings is or how nice and kind they were, Grey never showed any interest, even in just having fun.
Grey did not reply to Klaus’s comment, down his cup in one gulp before staring at the sky with a blank expression.
Grey, remaining silent and staring at the sky with a bland expression made both Klaus and Reynolds sigh. They could not wrap their head around how Grey’s mind works, and for some reason, he did not try to explain to them.
