Divine Emperor of Death
Chapter 4162: To The Whispering Wildlands Peninsula"…" Arys Duskbane was perspiring heavily.
He couldn't speak out loud. He couldn't remember a time when he had been checkmated by someone this quickly and miserably. He was done in an instant. The only saving grace was that the other party wanted something from him.
'Why…? Why… why!?'
He inwardly growled as he looked at the black-haired man in front of him.
Of all the realms he could be hidden in, why did it have to be the Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm? And out of all the twelve Grand Elders whom he could visit, why did it have to be him!?
He couldn't help but want to roar at the heavens! How come the Divine Emperor of Death was before him!?
This was ridiculous.
If it weren't for that rumored rabbit beast in front of him who threatened his life, he would have had to double-check by slapping himself in the face.
"Wait… wait… the Realm Master also wants to meet you as you said…"
Arys Duskbane stuttered, his lips quivering. He forcefully smiled, "I will take you to him. I will also keep quiet about this matter. You don't need to worry about me spreading that you're here one bit."Davis inclined his head and raised one of his brows, staring at Arys Duskbane in silence.
These few moments were quite hellish for Arys Duskbane. He tried to make his smile as pleasant as possible but kept thinking he failed as he didn't garner a reaction from Davis, causing his smile to turn into one of anguish.
"I can swear an oath."
"Go ahead." Davis gestured with an odd smile, "You will receive karmic sin, but there's no need to worry. You'll be well compensated if you actually keep your mouth shut."
Davis knew when Transcendents swore an oath to the heavens, an ordinary punitive lightning strike would directly fall from the heavens if they were to go against their words. Its prowess was said to be enough to kill or critically injure the oath-taker. However, Autarchs were exempt from this direct strike. Instead, their tribulations would become a bit more powerful and ruthless, just like how Immortals would be treated when they broke an oath to the heavens.
Although he hadn't seen it happen with his eyes, he knew it was the case as it was recorded many times and still happening all over the world. People tend to go back on their word, even if it is an oath towards the heavens. That nature never changed. It was better said that it was human nature to break rules.
Autarch Metenoa had also made one such oath to Davis. However, Davis didn't feel the need to worry as Autarch Metenoa was still operating his business for them. The same could be said about Master Taiwu.
"…" Arys Duskbane gulped.
He didn't know that he would receive karmic sin for swearing an oath to aid an Anarchic Divergent in any form. Still, that didn't change his mind. He gravely nodded.
Arys Duskbane was done with his oath in a few seconds, and Illumina finally took her hand off.
However, she still kept glaring at him with her sapphire eyes. When she had been a Lunar Blackclaw Rabbit, her beautiful pair of eyes tended to change blood-red purely because of her killing intent. But now, she was no longer bloodthirsty, and her eyes didn't turn red as much as before. However, her cold sapphire eyes looked chilling.
Arys Duskbane had no choice but to lower his head.
"Alright," Davis stood up, "Let's not waste time. Take me to the Whispering Wildlands Peninsula. As long as you don't do anything strange, you will be safe. If you think of testing my patience or wondering where my bottom line is, you will not have a head to calculate it the next moment. Are we clear?"
"Yes." Arys Duskbane nodded thrice.
His figure was already drenched in perspiration, his heart still beating faster. Beads of sweat rolled down his temple, but he maintained his composure enough to speak.
He was thoroughly spooked because he knew the Divine Emperor of Death was perfectly capable of killing him. The news of over forty Empyreans and Autarchs dying to him when he had just entered the Immortal Emperor Stage was still echoing throughout the world. If he had believed that it was nothing but a rumor before, then he was convinced now that the Divine Emperor of Death stood in front of him directly.
He didn't want to challenge him at all.
Moreover, he was afraid that little apocalyptic flame spirit could be hiding somewhere. He couldn't help but glance at the Divine Emperor of Death's life ring, wondering if she was present inside. As for hosting the apocalyptic flame spirit in one's soul sea, he didn't think the Divine Emperor of Death was suicidal.
The apocalyptic spirit was right now an existence that garnered more attention than the Divine Emperor of Death. Even if the Divine Emperor of Death claimed that he could control it, how far did that control reach the question?
Was it only at the level of giving certain commands? Or was it at the level of a master and slave? Was his commands absolute!?
They didn't know. He didn't know, so the apocalyptic flame spirit's threat level became higher.
Nonetheless, the threat that was directly in front of him warranted more attention from him.
"Please follow me."
Arys Duskbane bowed deeply and walked out of the chamber. He then exited the pavilion under the gazes of his subordinates.
Gorolt and the others were naturally curious as to what happened inside, but looking at Arys Duskbane, who appeared solemn, they didn't dare ask. They only saw Davis and Illumina leaving with their Pavilion Master.
The three of them boarded Arys Duskbane's flying ship and set off, the flying ship leaving behind a streak of amber light.
After many spatial warps, they finally reached the border.
The entire flight, which lasted four hours, was incredibly tense for Arys Duskbane. Now that he was able to think a little, he was afraid of the consequences that would come for him in the future the entire time. Ultimately, the present was more important, so he obediently took the Divine Emperor of Death to the Whispering Wildlands Peninsula.
Davis saw the vast clouds before him as he stood on the forefront of the deck, his black hair billowing from the fast winds.
*Rumble!~*
Thunder and storms were prevalent in this region. Their flying ship was above the sea, and in front of them was the blockade of vast, endless cumulonimbus clouds. It was a terrifying sight to see. However, Davis remembered the time he traversed a lightning region with Sophie. It made him smile a bit.
As the flying ship neared the swirling barrier of clouds, Arys Duskbane's voice echoed.
"This is as far as one can go usually. There are many cloud pathways to enter, but Sovereigns die here like flies, so only an Empyreal Sovereign can possibly get inside and tame the Whispering Wildlands Peninsula, in other words, binding the Realm Core. It was said the founder was one such person. However, the subsequent generations of the Whispering Wildlands Realm Master aren't as strong as the founder. These clouds also became tamer after the Realm Core was bound, so it is easier to breach but still considered extremely difficult."
Davis nodded, "I assume you know the good pathways, so pick the best one. You can try something foolish, but don't blame me for being ruthless at the slightest hint of betrayal."
Arys Duskbane slowly nodded. He brought out a talisman from his spatial ring. It had the image of an island, which vaguely resembled the shadowy outline of a giant floating island that was supposed to be the Whispering Wildlands Peninsula.
Even getting to this place was difficult as the mist in the outer zone prevented people from reaching it. After one reached here, the terrifying vertical clouds basically smothered and electrocuted them to death.
Davis and Illumina stared at him.
This talisman pulsed with a soft light upon being activated and seemingly created a small yet stable path through the stormy clouds.
"Without this, even if one managed to reach the Whispering Wildlands Peninsula, they'll be fried by the defensive formations. This is the reason the Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm never fell despite being considered lawless and needing reform by the vast world. Countless righteous powers tried to invade this place in the name of justice and restoring peace, but they all failed."
Arys Duskbane explained, but his voice had a hint of pride and mocking tone.
"How perfect…"
Davis's smile only grew more amused.
With a natural fortress like this, did he need to worry if he decided to take this place for himself?
