Chapter 329: The Darkness.
“The coat looks good on you.”
Lavinia complimented as she looked at Kael, trying to change the topic. Kael understood what she wanted and,
“Right!?”
His eyes brightened,
“I thought the same. It’s like it made me a completely different person!”
He spoke as he stood up and rotated a few more times. He even formed a Water Shield that worked as a mirror to see his own appearance, and honestly, even he didn’t recognize himself.
“Father has changed.”
Suddenly, his portal opened up on its own and Igni, together with his other children except for Nyrri, walked out.
“Right!? I didn’t know a coat could make so much difference!”
Kael nodded.
“It isn’t just the coat.”
Igni shook his head, his amber eyes observed his father’s face and,
“You look completely different compared to when I first saw you. Your face looks much more mature than before.”
The Dragon commented.
At his words, Kael stared at his reflection again and,
“I have indeed changed.”
For a moment, he just stared.
It took him a second to realize… the person staring back didn’t look like the Kael he remembered.
His face was sharper now—his jawline more defined, his cheekbones higher, his eyes deeper and more intense. His skin looked healthier, his features more mature. He looked older than he remembered, not in a worn-out way, but in a strong, grown-up way.
His body had changed too. His shoulders were broader, his chest firmer, and his arms carried more muscle. He raised his hand and touched his face, still surprised. Even his height… he was a few inches taller now, reaching 6’4.
It was… quite overwhelming.
*Picture*
Lavinia, who was staring at him in silence, suddenly smiled as she held his hand again,
“You look good, that is all that matters, no?”
“You are right about that.”
Kael laughed.
Even Igni came and rubbed his face with his father’s. As if on cue, the rest of his Bonds did the same, instantly surrounding their father.
Not wanting him to be left out, Kael walked into the portal and carried out Nyrri. The not-so-little guy still wasn’t very comfortable moving without water, so he had to carry him.
“Tomorrow’s going to be a long day, let’s sleep.”
Lavinia suggested.
Kael nodded as well. Once again, starting with Igni, everyone got in their positions. This time, Lavinia held Kael’s arm much more tightly than normal. It was something that Kael did not resist.
The Hero, his children, and the Princess closed their eyes. The Spirits did the same—even though they couldn’t actually sleep, they wanted to feel included and made themselves comfortable in the middle of Kael and Lavinia.
Surrounded by the beings he cherished, Kael was engulfed by a strong sense of comfort, and soon, he was in his dreamland.
Yes, again.
“You have 5 minutes.”
Alaric, the blonde Hero, spoke with the same look on his face. Kael, who saw the now familiar surroundings and sensed his body’s emotions, quickly understood the Vision was being repeated.
Of course, this wasn’t a rare occurrence; he was used to seeing the same Visions multiple times.
So this time, he observed everything much more calmly than before.
The Vision continued, the future Kael continued to explain about Creston, Gates, and everything, and honestly, Kael was bored—no, more accurately, he was annoyed.
After all, he knew how this was going to end. It was like watching a movie knowing it has a bad ending.
In the end, Kael just shook his head and tried to do something else.
Accessing his Mindflow.
As he mentioned back in Everveil, he could not access Mindflow in Nerathis because of his soul’s natural resistance.
However, today during the day, Kael had a lot of free time on his hands.
While Imperia was commanding her Ants and Lavinia was practicing Elemental Magic, Kael had been constantly trying to access his Mindflow and, after constantly going at it for hours, he managed to succeed—even if it was for a short duration.
Yes, Kael had now learned to access his Mindflow. Of course, he still could not see, let alone link with other beings’ Mindflows and alter their perception without using Vitaria’s power.
But at the very least, he could now access his Mindflow, expand his vision outside his body, and look at the world through his soul.
What’s even better?
In Nerathis, he did not see the darkness he usually saw in Everveil.
Even though he did not see others’ Mindflows and souls like Vitaria mentioned, he did see some blurry figures where Lavinia, Imperia, and her Ants stood.
According to Imperia, it was their souls, just that he still wasn’t well enough to see it clearly and needed more practice.
Yes, Kael was learning—and at a ridiculous pace at that.
And not to lose that momentum, he thought—
‘Should I try it here?’
—yes, he was going to train here.
With that in mind, Kael once again accessed his Mindflow. He failed the first few times because he still wasn’t used to it. However, after about twenty to thirty tries, he succeeded.
In excitement, he quickly expanded his senses, prepared to watch the world with his soul,
But once again, he saw the same thing—
The familiar darkness.
The darkness he saw in Everveil.
‘Here too…?’
His expression changed.
However, before he could think too much about it, the Vision ended and he woke up again.
“Again?”
Lavinia questioned, instantly noticing the change in Kael’s breathing.
“…Yes.”
Kael nodded as he slowly stood up with a strange expression on his face.
“Didn’t you see the same Vision? Why do you look so confused?”
The Princess questioned.
Kael stared at her with the same confusion—it was as if he was collecting his thoughts. She too remained silent and gave him the time he needed and, after about a minute,
Kael started explaining everything.
“So you sensed the same darkness?”
“Yes.”
The Hero nodded.
“What if your dream world has the same resistance as Everveil?”
Vitaria questioned.
“It could be possible, but…”
Kael wasn’t sure.
Not until—
“Or what if… you see darkness instead of soul because there are no souls.”
Lavinia spoke, and suddenly, Kael’s expression changed.
