Eternal Tale

Chapter 217: The True Heaven’s End Plains

Chen Xun and the big black ox took a deep breath, gazing into the distance. The shimmering barrier, flickering in and out of sight, marked a formation far beyond their comprehension. They had arrived at the edge of the Heaven’s End Ravine, not yet at the teleportation arrays of the Da Li cultivators' strongholds.

"Moo~~" The big black ox let out a deep breath, looking at the various cliffs ahead. The five-element array flags circled around it as a rainbow of light shot forth, making contact with the grand formation.

Chen Xun squinted slightly as the Extinguishing Spirit Wind was drawn into the cliffs, only to be repelled by the formation. The cultivation world, it seemed, had been enduring this invasion for a long time, while Da Li had found a solution—redirecting the suffering to another side and completely severing the connection.

He smirked coldly, saying nothing. The cultivation world truly was a place where self-preservation came before anything else. The reality was probably even more complex than he imagined.

"Moo!" The big black ox’s eyes narrowed as it touched the massive formation, and it began scribbling in their notebook.

Chen Xun glanced at what it wrote, and once again, he was shaken.

The formation clearly incorporated massive Extinguishing Spirit Stones, and the foundation wasn’t on the surface but deep underground! Da Li had likely discovered something important—the Extinguishing Spirit Wind wasn’t the true problem. It was the erosion of spiritual energy and the very environment of the cultivation world that posed the real threat.

The key was in those stones sealing the terrifying creatures—they were not the same as Extinguishing Spirit Stones.

The sky-encompassing formation of Da Li could block the Extinguishing Spirit Wind, but it couldn’t stop cultivators. This brought some relief to Chen Xun and the big black ox.

According to Huang Shao, teleportation from the nearest province to the ravine cost over a hundred mid-grade spirit stones, and the array could only teleport ten people at a time. Most people traveled in groups to share the cost.

Chen Xun and the big black ox certainly wouldn’t waste their money on something like that. Time wasn’t an issue for them, and they wanted to enjoy the journey and take in the sights.

"Moo moo~~" The big black ox sighed softly, shaking its head. The complexity of Da Li's formations was far beyond its understanding.

"Haha, Old Bull, we’ve only just arrived. There’s plenty of time to learn," Chen Xun said, patting the bull. "Look over there at that long-distance teleportation array. Surely that interests you, big black ox?!"

"Moo!" The big black ox’s eyes widened. Qian Country didn’t have large teleportation arrays like this. Not only had the skill been lost, but the materials had also become extinct.

In Qian Country, only small-scale arrays remained, useful for short-distance transport. The bull had only a surface-level understanding of teleportation arrays, as they were vast and intricate.

The big black ox grinned, rubbing against Chen Xun, clearly eager to go to Da Li and learn more.

"Old Bull~" Chen Xun raised an eyebrow, suddenly becoming secretive.

"Moo?"

"Da Li has… the ocean," Chen Xun said, his voice soft with excitement, his face flushing slightly. "One of my dreams is to go out to sea and fish."

"Moo~~~" The big black ox, catching Chen Xun's excitement, snorted in delight.

"Old Bull, that’s the ultimate goal of cultivation!"

"Moo!!"

Their conversation grew more animated, their excitement building until Chen Xun wrapped his arms around the bull’s head, and the bull’s eyes widened in response. The bull still wanted to visit a Buddhist temple and inquire about karmic rebirth. ȒAꞐộ₿ĘṢ

"Old Bull, let’s go explore."

"Moo~~~"

Their laughter echoed through the cliffs as they leaped into the sky, heading toward the horizon.

*Buzz!*

At the same time, they retracted the flying boat—it would no longer be needed for now. They could always show it to the little crane later.

Seven days passed.

They traversed the cliffs, and to their surprise, they discovered that the sky-encompassing formation had three layers. What they had seen earlier was only the first. By now, they could no longer feel the presence of the Extinguishing Spirit Wind at all.

Gradually, the sky cleared, no longer filled with swirling sandstorms and chaos. It was as if they had entered a new world. The sky was a brilliant blue, untainted by a single cloud, like a canvas of pure sapphire, shining with a radiant glow.

It was so clear it resembled a sheet of blue paper, with a few thin clouds drifting lazily across it, as though the sunlight had melted them into the breeze.

Standing on the edge of the cliffs, they took in the grandeur of the spiritual energy flooding the world. Looking out into the distance, they were utterly speechless.

Beneath the sky, a vast, endless plain stretched as far as the eye could see—a boundless expanse of emerald green, like a colossal jade disc, serene and awe-inspiring.

The plain was a continuous stretch of grassland, with no hills to disrupt its calm, resembling a tranquil sea on a still day.

This was the true Heaven’s End Plains, the frontier of Da Li, a paradise for spiritual beasts.

"Holy crap..."

"Moo…"

Chen Xun and the big black ox exchanged a stunned glance. The scent of earth and spiritual herbs wafted in on the breeze, overwhelming them with its richness.

How many years had it been since they had seen greenery like this? It felt like a lifetime ago. They never imagined that the Heaven’s End Plains would be so breathtaking.

Chen Xun’s eyes lit up with excitement, and in one swift motion, he jumped onto the back of the big black ox, shouting, "Old Bull, let’s go, woohoo!!!"

"Moo!!!"

The big black ox let out a roar of joy and charged forward. Wildflowers bloomed around them as they raced across the plains, their speed stirring a powerful wind that sent ripples through the endless sea of grass.

Chen Xun laughed heartily, lying back on the bull, watching the scenery rush past. Above them, massive flying spiritual beasts occasionally crossed the sky.

The big black ox, full of energy, raced through the plains, chomping on grass as it ran.

Chen Xun raised his hand, the power of the five elements swirling around his fingers as he felt the vast spiritual energy of the land. It was abundant, far beyond anything in their cultivation world.

He sighed deeply. Just the Heaven’s End Plains alone was enough to show how strong Da Li was and how rich its cultivation resources were.

However, according to Huang Shao, a late-stage Nascent Soul cultivator was still considered a powerful figure in Da Li, renowned in certain regions. Nascent Soul cultivators weren’t weak just because they had come to Da Li.

But beyond the Nascent Soul realm, they knew little. The subject was rarely discussed, but one thing was certain—Da Li had even stronger cultivators.

With 360 provinces under its control, there were surely countless old monsters in hiding. The major powers openly controlled only about a third of the land, leaving the rest to smaller sects and hidden forces scattered throughout the provinces.

Chen Xun smiled, feeling at ease. He and the big black ox weren’t here to compete for resources or topple sects—they could coexist without stirring trouble.

"Moo!" The big black ox came to a sudden stop, its gaze fixed on something in the distance.

"Hey, a Foundation Establishment spirit beast," Chen Xun said, his eyes gleaming. In the distance, two spiritual beasts were locked in fierce combat, brilliant lights flashing, dirt flying.

"Old Bull, looks like it’s predator versus prey. Nature at work, haha."

"Moo~~~"

They watched the battle with great interest but didn’t interfere.

*Roar!*

*Roar!*

The two spirit beasts, sensing the humans watching from afar, quickly separated, still filled with fighting spirit. They growled at each other: *We’ll settle this another time!* Then, both swiftly fled in opposite directions.

The big black ox snorted with laughter. The spirit beasts here were smarter than the reckless ones in the Southern Dipper Mountains.

Chen Xun leaned back, hands behind his head, and chuckled. "Let’s go, Old Bull. If we see spirit beasts fighting, we’ll just watch."

"Moo~~" The big black ox grinned, understanding its brother's mindset. Enjoying life meant taking pleasure in simple things like this.

For half a month, the big black ox ran across the plains without using any magic, reveling in the pure joy of freedom.

Chen Xun also ran beside it at times, completely uninhibited, enjoying the sense of liberation.

As they ventured deeper into the Heaven’s End Plains, they occasionally spotted Golden Core-level spirit beasts roaming the area. There were plenty of spiritual herbs as well.

Yet Chen Xun and the big black ox never harvested the herbs or hunted the beasts. They didn’t need to disrupt this peaceful and beautiful landscape.
