Eternal Tale
Chapter 237: Providing a Resting Place for the Souls of CultivatorsHalf a year later, if one were to look down from the sky, they would see countless massive ships heading towards the Forbidden Sea, like mountains in motion. These ships plowed through the waves, creating thunderous sounds as they ventured deeper into the Western Sea.
On these ships stood numerous cultivators, their expressions cold, their bodies radiating powerful auras, each wielding strange and powerful spiritual weapons, all at a profound level or higher.
Suddenly, the sea surged with massive waves as a giant sea beast swam beneath the surface, causing several ships to shake violently, almost flipping over.
"What is that?!"
"We're under attack by a sea beast! Prepare for battle!"
The cultivators on board were thrown into panic. In the distance, a huge blue dorsal fin broke the surface, enormous and terrifying—it was the one that had struck the ships.
The attacked cultivators exchanged anxious glances, unable to track the beast's movements with their spiritual senses, forced to defend blindly.
Boom!
With a sudden attack, massive water pillars shot up from the sea as the giant beast leaped out, crushing one of the large ships instantly.
"How dare you!""Help me…!"
Angry shouts, pleas for help, and screams of despair echoed as a single strike killed over a hundred cultivators. This sea beast was at least at the Nascent Soul stage!
Several elder cultivators quickly stepped in, summoning their life-bound artifacts. Their spells rained down like meteors, rescuing some of the crew.
The blue-finned sea beast thrashed its powerful tail, smashing through spells with its out-of-body Nascent Soul power. The aftermath sent waves rolling across the sea, filling the cultivators with terror.
The beast, clearly intelligent, destroyed one ship before swiftly escaping, disappearing into the depths without engaging the elders directly.
"Damn it! We're only on the way to the Forbidden Sea, and the dangers are already this intense."
"And this is just the beginning."
"Miss, remember—never rush recklessly into the Forbidden Sea."
...
Sighs filled the air within the fleet. These Nascent Soul-level sea beasts were difficult to deal with—killing them was nearly impossible, and injuring them was considered a success. 𝑅𝖆𝐍ổВÊ𝘴
At the center of one ship stood a young woman with a sharp face, long eyebrows, and extraordinary beauty.
Her brows were furrowed as she listened to the warnings of her elderly attendants without responding. She gazed into the distance, feeling a strange sensation, as though someone were watching her.
But the sea appeared calm and serene, nothing out of the ordinary.
However, in the distance, a hidden ship was speeding along under the cover of an array. Three figures sat at the back, watching the surrounding scene with little interest.
"Brother Ox, there are so many strong cultivators," Xiao Chi murmured as he clung tightly to Brother Ox, who in turn was pressed against Chen Xun.
"**Moo~~**" Brother Ox's eyes widened in surprise. How could there be so many cultivators heading to the Forbidden Sea? Were they all thinking the same thing as them?
"Let's observe for now. At least the sea beasts haven't noticed Brother Ox's formation yet."
"**Moo!**" Brother Ox grinned. The sea contained elemental forces as well, making it easy to use for his formation. No other ship's array could compare to his.
Chen Xun laughed too. They were still far from the Forbidden Sea, but they had already encountered several Nascent Soul-level sea beasts. This place was no joke for ordinary cultivators.
But from another perspective, the number of powerful corpses in the Forbidden Sea must be staggering. They wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to claim those treasures.
An hour later, many of the ships had formed fleets, glowing with brilliance. The roar of spiritual power was louder than the crashing waves.
Chen Xun and his crew blinked several times, their eyes dazzled by the light. Some of these ships bore banners of major sects—clear signs of protection in this vast sea.
Suddenly, the sea ahead erupted in turmoil. The path became shrouded in thick fog, with flashes of purple light carrying a terrifying killing intent!
"Be careful! That's the remnant will of ancient power from the Forbidden Sea—don't touch it!"
A shout rang out from one of the ships. The Forbidden Sea not only contained demonic energy but also the lingering killing intent of ancient warriors from its battlefields.
These purple fogs seemed to have no consciousness, but they emitted a terrifying aura, like ancient creatures lurking within, sending shivers down the spines of those who sensed them.
A chilling wail echoed from the fog, radiating multicolored lights. The ripples spread through the sea, shaking the waves and reaching the sky.
"Move away!"
One cultivator leaped into the air, attempting to dispel the fog with a long-range attack to clear the way.
Boom!
A massive recoil force struck him, and he spat blood in shock. The purple fogs may have looked similar, but they were vastly different in essence.
Each contained a unique form of killing power, capable of reflecting any spiritual attacks back onto the cultivator.
Crash! Crash! Crash!
The purple fog moved unpredictably, enveloping ships before the cultivators had time to react. Screams rang out as bodies exploded into blood mist, staining the sea.
All the remaining ships surged forward, speeding away. Many of the cultivators frowned deeply, dark clouds of worry etched on their faces.
They hadn’t even entered the Forbidden Sea yet, and they were already encountering such dangers. But no one retreated. Every cultivator knew that great risks brought great rewards.
Back on the hidden ship.
Chen Xun and his crew exchanged uneasy glances. The distance was too far for them to discern the nature of the purple fog. The so-called "remnant will" was something they had never heard of.
"**Moo moo?**" Brother Ox nudged Chen Xun, uneasy.
"It’s manageable."
Chen Xun stood with one hand behind his back, his gaze calm. "If the entire Forbidden Sea is full of this stuff, we’ll just leave."
"Got it, Brother Xun!" Xiao Chi, who had been paralyzed with fear, perked up at the word "leave." He raised both hands and feet in agreement.
"Brother Ox, is the array holding?"
"**Moo!**"
"If your array can’t handle it, we’ll carry the ship and run—no hesitation."
Chen Xun swallowed. Even he couldn’t break through Brother Ox’s formation. "The Forbidden Sea truly lives up to its name. It’s creepy. Don’t interact with those other cultivators—focus on our task."
"**Moo moo!**" Brother Ox snorted heavily, activating all his senses to monitor the changes in the Five Elemental Flags.
While Xiao Chi lay limp with fear, his eyes focused on the flags of the passing ships, quickly committing them to memory. These fleets carried considerable power.
Brother Ox steered the ship toward the purple fog. They weren’t in a rush—they’d study it first before heading to the Devil’s Nest.
While other cultivators avoided the fog at all costs, Chen Xun had already locked onto the ancient will by using his spiritual senses.
"**Moo!**" Brother Ox understood Chen Xun's intent, raising his hoof to activate the Five Elements Energy, sending it speeding toward the fog from beneath the sea.
Xiao Chi had no idea what his two brothers were up to, so he stood guard while they focused. This spot had become a small no-man’s land, with no one daring to come near.
Their hidden ship remained anchored in place.
As Brother Ox’s Five Elemental power touched the purple fog, it began to roil, its killing intent lashing out at Brother Ox in retaliation.
His heart raced. For the first time, his elemental power had failed—the fog wasn’t composed of spiritual energy.
Chen Xun's eyes turned cold. Dare to attack Brother Ox?
Behind him, a terrifying phantom slowly appeared. With a single strike, it sent the sea into a frenzy. Brother Ox and Xiao Chi leaped in surprise—Brother Xun had taken action.
The killing intent was shattered into dust. As Chen Xun lifted his hand, the sea churned, and the Five Elements power shot into the fog.
"**Moo!**" Brother Ox quickly followed up, waving his formation flags to lock down the purple fog.
The fog grew even more agitated, swirling wildly. Within, a trapped will seemed to sigh as if it had been released. Finally, it dissipated into the heavens and earth.
At that moment, sharp gazes from all directions converged on them. Someone had intervened to disperse the purple fog!
"Brother Ox, let’s go!"
"**Moo!**"
"Brother Xun, back to Heaven’s End Plains?"
"Back to your grandpa! We’re going to the Forbidden Sea!"
...
Their ship sped away, curses flying in their wake as it dove deeper into the dark waters. The sunlight grew faint, and the farther they went, the dimmer the world became.
The sea outside the Forbidden Sea had been turbulent, but here, everything was unnervingly calm. The waters were dark and still, utterly silent.
In the distance, more ships sailed into the murky fog. The air was thick with a mysterious haze that blocked spiritual senses.
"Beware of creatures in the sky!"
"Quick, stop them!"
The Forbidden Sea was filled with battles. Only the strongest and luckiest could leave with ancient legacies.
In the midst of this chaos, a lone ship quietly entered the Forbidden Sea. Its peculiar tree stood out, but as it passed other ships, no one seemed to notice it, as if it were invisible.
The ship headed toward an uninhabited area, moving steadily and silently.
Onboard, the three figures wore curious expressions as they observed their surroundings. Their goal was entirely different from that of the Da Li cultivators around them.
They were here for the bodies—to provide the fallen cultivators with a place to rest, not to engage in battles and bloodshed…
