Two hundred miles per hour… Three hundred… The old car was pushing its physical limits. Under Luna’s control, it became a blur among the traffic, weaving swiftly through the crowded streets.

Fortunately, it wasn’t rush hour; otherwise, even with the magic of the dragon language, the old car wouldn’t have made it an inch through the congested roads.

Luna quickly circled the city center. To her, three hundred miles per hour wasn’t fast; she could still observe the pedestrians as she drove. Faces of laughter, tears, excitement, disappointment, confusion, vitality, and numbness flashed by her in rapid succession.

Yet, no matter which face she glimpsed, none belonged to the person she sought. With no clear target or direction, she could only look at the faces cluelessly. Was she going to scan every face in the city? Impossible.

Luna had time, but no matter how much time she had, it wouldn’t suffice for such an enormous task, and she wasn’t even sure it would yield any results. Truth be told, she didn’t want to linger in this world for too long.

Despite its vibrancy and intrigue, it wasn’t her home. A few days of exploration would be manageable, but the longer she stayed, the more she would feel the loneliness that seeped deep into her bones.

Loneliness.

Loneliness…

Loneliness?

Luna suddenly slammed on the brakes. With a screech, the old car left tire marks for hundreds of meters before coming to a stop, just short of completely wrecking the brakes.

It halted exactly where she had first entered the car. Luna opened the door, and the driver was still fast asleep. She snapped her fingers.

“Hmm… Is it dawn already?”

The effects of the dragon language magic faded, and the uncle stirred awake slowly.

“Where am I? This doesn’t look like home.”

“You’re in your car.”

“In my car… huuuuuh?”

The driver blinked in confusion for a moment, but the familiar sights around him quickly dispelled his sleepiness.

“Wait, wasn’t I driving you, beautiful lady? Did I fall asleep while driving…?”

The driver was taken aback for a moment before suddenly slapping and reprimanding himself, “I told you to control yourself and go to bed earlier last night! Just because your wife wore black stockings doesn’t mean you should screw her until she can’t walk the next day! What are you going to do now? Driving in a state of exhaustion can lead to something serious! By then, you won’t get to see black and white stockings again!”

Luna just stared at him, speechless. She closed the car door and reassured him, “Don’t worry, I brought you back.”

“You?” The driver blinked in surprise, his expression brightening. “So, nothing happened?”

“Of course not.” Luna didn’t want to linger on the topic and turned to leave. “The money is in the back seat; keep the change.”

“Back seat? Why did you put it there? You already woke me up.”

The driver turned to the side and glanced at the back seat in confusion.

There, he saw more than ten neatly stacked bundles of cash, the largest denominations prominently displayed. A rough estimate suggested there might be hundreds of thousands.

Oh my god, is this the generosity of a celebrity?

“T-T-That’s…” The driver shuddered and quickly poked his head out of the car window to call after Luna. “That’s way too much money, gorgeous!”

“I don’t think so. That’s for you to repair your car,” Luna replied without looking back.

“Repair my car?” the driver murmured in confusion, then instinctively lowered his gaze.

Roll, roll, roll…

Huh? Wait, the car isn’t moving… Why are my tires running away from it?”

◆◇◆◇◆

By the time Luna returned to the park, the sun was already setting.

The usually quiet park was now bustling with activity. Families strolled around the manmade lake at its center, while mischievous children laughed and chased each other, leaving traces of their footsteps on the green lawn.

Under the willow trees lining the lakeside, couples whispered sweet nothings to one another, and occasional blush-inducing noises could be heard. In the pavilion at the center of the lake, an old man serenaded the evening with ancient opera.

Luna scanned the crowd but didn’t spot the figure she was hoping to see.

“Strange, where could he be at this time?”

Scratching her head, she returned to her bench.

The camphor trees were often ignored during the day due to their scent, which many found off-putting. Couples would rather spend time with each other at the lakeside while fighting the buzz knights than sit on this bench where the peculiar aroma might drown out their pheromones.

An old man adored the camphor trees. However, he often brought the most energetic children with him on his walks, and could hardly stay in one place for long. He managed to take only short breaks before being whisked away by their grandchildren.

Luna sat there undisturbed for quite a while. As the night deepened and the street lights were lit up, a familiar figure sneaked out from behind a tree.

“What are you doing?” Luna asked.

Tadashi was startled and visibly jumped. When he turned and saw it was Luna, he sighed in relief, but his tone quickly hardened. “Why art thou here?”

“Why can’t I be here?”

“Hmph, thou art in Our land. It is only natural for thou to seek Our permission…”

“Hehe, it’s your land but you can only sneak back here after the security leaves?” Luna couldn’t help but sneer.

The security guard who had just passed her with a flashlight made it clear why she hadn’t seen Tadashi during the day—he had been sneaking into this park all along.

“Ugh…”

Tadashi looked slightly dejected after Luna’s statement, but he quickly perked up, clenching his fists with determination. “Once We gather enough power, We’ll drive those monsters out of Our empire for good!”

Growl~

Tadashi rubbed his belly, a blush creeping across his cheeks.

“Hehe, it seems you still have a long way to go,” Luna teased.

“This is nothing! We just haven’t grown up yet. When We do, We’ll definitely—”

“All right, all right.” Luna waved her hand and pulled out a piece of delicious grilled steak. “You’re hungry, right? Take this.”

Tadashi didn’t move.

Luna frowned in confusion and looked up at him. That was when she noticed he was holding something tightly in his arms.

“What is that?” she asked.

“For thou.”

“For me?” Luna raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Is this the… most precious ring in the world that you mentioned yesterday?”

Tadashi’s face turned even redder, but he puffed out his chest in an attempt to look brave.

“Of course… not!”

“Hehe, you’re the only one who can deny something so confidently.”

Lilith would do the same, but she’d stand taller and wouldn’t blush at all. Luna considered this for a moment before asking, “So, what is it?”
