Chapter 2113 – Xuanwu!

The top of the first divine tower lay after the nine steps of the Road to Heaven.

Here, chaos mists churned in waves. Standing here was like standing in a sea of chaos clouds.

After Jian Xingyun reached the top, he let out a deep breath, and a contemptuous look appeared on his face. He shook his head. “What ‘supreme record?’ I broke it with a snap of my fingers.”

The Lingyu Dao Monarch had told Jian Xingyun all about the first divine tower’s secrets before he even began his trial.

He was one of the nine opponents chosen to defeat Su Yi. Taking their relative cultivation bases into account, he had the strongest fleshly body among them!

Thus, the first divine power put no pressure on him whatsoever. He broke the old record with ease in almost no time at all!

“Now I just have to wait for Su Yi to show up. According to the Lingyu Dao Monarch, so long as I use only the power of my fleshly body, it won’t violate the trial grounds’ restrictions. I’ll be able to kill him without reservation!” whispered Jian Xingyun.

But then, a calm voice arose out of nowhere, resounding throughout the sea of chaos clouds.

“Is that so?”

Jian Xingyun’s pupils constricted. He whipped his head around to look. Who knew when he’d gotten there, but Su Yi was standing not far away from him, amidst the churning chaos.

Even though his heart was as steady as a boulder, Jian Xingyun was unwittingly stunned. He couldn’t help but ask, “When did you get here?”

“The same time you did,” said Su Yi casually. He stood with his hands behind his back as he surveyed his surroundings. “They say that those who overcome the Road to Heaven will receive good fortune, but I don’t see it. Do you know where it is?”

He looked as leisurely as if he were out sightseeing.

Jian Xingyun’s brow furrowed, and he quickly cleared his head. “To the best of my knowledge, when two people arrive simultaneously, only one can receive the reward.”

Su Yi’s eyebrows rose, and he turned to look at Jian Xingyun. “So, we’ll have to duke it out first, and only the winner will receive good fortune?”

“That’s right.” Jian Xingyun’s gaze was firm and calm, but his blood and qi churned, and his aura was imposing. He’d locked onto Su Yi, and his eyes were full of murderous intent!

“Don’t be in such a rush. We can determine a victor whenever. Before that, I’m curious. What’s your connection to that guy? Why are you willing to serve him?” Su Yi took out a jug of wine and asked.

“‘That guy?’” Jian Xingyun frowned. A moment later, he realized who Su Yi was talking about.

His expression was instantly solemn. “I’ve always taken that senior for my master! It was he who saved my life, but more than that, I admire his cultivation and his breadth of spirit from the bottom of my heart. I revere him as I do the heavens themselves, and I honor him as my teacher!”

Su Yi could tell that Jian Xingyun’s reverence for his third incarnation was heartfelt, but at the same time, that his third incarnation had never really accepted Jian Xingyun as his disciple. If he had, Jian Xingyun would never have referred to him as “senior.”

After a moment’s silence, Su Yi said, “You do realize that he’s most likely just using you to take me down, right?”

“I know that,” Jian Xingyun admitted directly. “He told me this much when he saved me from death. He said he was rescuing me so that I could help him with something later, and that I should think it over carefully before accepting his aid.”

Su Yi instantly understood. “That’s for the best.”

His impression of his third incarnation silently improved considerably. The trap he’d encountered at Heaven’s End had left him with a rather poor first impression of… himself.

There, he was like the man behind the curtain, the chessmaster manipulating the Lingyu Dao Monarch and the Seven Great Celestial Venerates like pawns. Su Yi detested such schemes above all else. He’d even suspected that his third incarnation was a dark-hearted, manipulative schemer who toyed with others’ lives and would resort to anything to achieve his ends.

Now, it seemed that may not be the case after all.

Jian Xingyun was no fool; he was the most blessed son of fortune of his epoch civilization of origin. His foundations, aptitude, and wisdom far surpassed “ordinary” unparalleled geniuses. The fact that he paid this man such reverence suggested that the third incarnation had the character and breadth of spirit to win Jian Xingyun over.

Moreover, even a Primordial Ancestral God like the Lingyu Dao Monarch served his third incarnation willingly. All of this proved how extraordinary his third incarnation was.

“Given that he arranged for the nine of you to undergo the Nine Great Celestial Trials, he must be confident that you have the means of defeating me,” said Su Yi. “I’ve just about figured out his intentions. If I’m not mistaken, your fleshly body is invincible within the Great Profound Stage. Am I right?”

Jian Xingyun said with calm, staunch determination, “That’s right! That senior said that there was no finding anyone with a comparable fleshly body anywhere in my epoch civilization of origin. And here on the Road to Heaven, we can only compete with the powers of our fleshly bodies. This is what that senior arranged. I am to defeat you in a fair, open contest of strength!”

Su Yi smiled. “Go ahead and attack, then. You’d best give it your all, or you won’t even get the chance to struggle.”

Jian Xingyun’s eyebrows rose. Su Yi had obviously provoked him.

He said slowly and emphatically, “Rest assured that I’ll fight with my life on the line. Even if I die, I’ll die without regrets!”

Boom!

Dense blood and qi undulated like the tides, rumbling like thunder as a massive, mysterious illusory Xuanwu condensed.

Su Yi’s eyes lit up.

Xuanwu blood and qi!

The Xuanwu was a divine beast that practically only existed in legend. Their power could overturn the heavens, and when they exhaled, their breath could shatter stars. They had true undying bodies, and the power of their flesh was without equal!

It was no wonder that his third incarnation had chosen Jian Xingyun. His fleshly body… was enough to put the body refiner arhats of Buddhism to shame. He outshone even asuras of the Demonist Path who proved their Daos with their fleshly bodies!

Jian Xingyun’s skin shone with natural, mysterious Dao Markings. They were glittering and golden, and they made it seem like his entire body was forged out of gold. An imposing pressure surged from him.

Su Yi instantly concluded that, relying purely on the power of his physical body, the Great Profound Stage Jian Xingyun could punch Lesser Gods to death with his bare hands.

It was simply perverse!

“If you please!” said Jian Xingyun, his eyes shining with divine radiance as murderous intent billowed around him. The illusory Xuanwu slowly expanded behind him, as if it were intent on crushing the starry void and shattering all of creation!

“Very well. Since this is supposed to be a competition between cultivators of the same level, I won’t bully you,” said Su Yi. As he spoke, he suppressed his Hidden Summit Realm cultivation base down to the Great Profound Stage.

Then, he took a step forward, and…

Boom!

The chaos clouds churned, and the air was thrown into upheaval.

A tidal wave or avalanche of power shot out of Su Yi and into the firmament. All of it originated from his blood and qi.

With every step he took, his blood and qi grew even stronger. They were so concentrated that they seemed almost tangible, and they shook the starry dome of heaven.

Jian Xingyun was stunned. His pupils constricted. Wait, wasn’t this guy supposed to be a sword cultivator? Why has he tempered his fleshly body to such unbelievable heights?

“Remember: you must use your full strength. Otherwise, you won’t even get the chance to struggle!” Su Yi said calmly.

The will to fight burned in the depths of his gaze.

The sheer power of Jian Xingyun’s body really did interest him somewhat. He was, at least, worth fighting.

As Su Yi’s voice rang out, he took his sixth step. The power of his blood and qi was now so mighty as to blanket the sky and blot out the sun. When his imposing presence clashed with Jian Xingyun, it resulted in an ear-splitting blast.

He wasn’t the least bit inferior to his opponent!

At that moment, Jian Xingyun no longer hesitated. He attacked with all his might.

Boom!

He leaped through the air, twisted at the waist, clenched his fist, and threw a punch. All of the terrifying, boiling power of his blood and qi gathered in his fist.

The illusory Xuanwu behind him threw back its head and let out a heaven-shaking roar.

When Jian Xingyun’s fist landed, the chaos clouds scattered and swept outward with a bang, and space contorted. A resplendent fist imprint visible to the naked eye flashed through the air, quick as lightning, and descended from the heavens.

There was no need to even question it. A punch like that could have indeed blasted a Lesser God to bits!

Su Yi’s eyes lit up, and he laughed, “Now that’s an interesting punch!”

With that, he took a step forward and swung his sleeve.

Boom!

It was as if heaven and earth switched places, and the sun and moon hung upside down.

The indomitable power of his blood and qi transformed into a flood of sword qi, crushing the skies in its wake and slamming into Jian Xingyun’s punch.

That sword qi was so tyrannical that it forced Jian Xingyun several steps back. His expression shifted, and he was instantly solemn. What a terrifying guy!

“If you can’t turn this around by the time I’ve taken my ninth step, don’t blame me for my rudeness,” Su Yi said with a laugh. He wanted to see just what the limits of Jian Xingyun’s fleshly body were.

As he spoke, he took his eighth step.

“Activate!” Jian Xingyun suddenly raised his hands into the air. Throughout his body, his skin and muscles expanded like surging lava, and the illusory Xuanwu behind him grew increasingly tangible. It then shifted positions and landed on Jian Xingyun’s outstretched palms.

An unbelievable scene followed. The illusory Xuanwu fused into Jian Xingyun’s hands as he clenched them into a fist and attacked.

This was his secret divine ability—the Xuanwu Breaker!

Jian Xingyun had poured the full extent of his cultivation base into this attack. The Lingyu Dao Monarch, a Primordial Ancient God, had once appraised it as the “mightiest divine ability of the fleshly body, entirely unequaled!”

“Truly not bad!” Su Yi threw back his head and laughed. He pressed his fingers together into a makeshift sword, which erupted with the power of his blood and qi. He too was unleashing all of the power he could within the bounds of the Great Profound Stage.

Bang!!

When the two attacks collided, the nearby chaos clouds scattered. It was like a raging hurricane sweeping across ten thousand miles.

The explosive impact went off like divine thunder resounding throughout the world below. It was enough to make even experts of the same level give in to fear!

The impact left Su Yi staggering on his feet.

Jian Singyun was forced backward several dozen feet before he finally managed to steady himself.

His chest heaved, and his eyes blazed with horrifying light. Irrepressible shock arose on his brow.

It seemed he could never have anticipated that he’d encounter an opponent of the same cultivation with such a ridiculously powerful physical body.

“Your fleshly body’s quite something. It’s undoubtedly the strongest I’ve seen in this lifetime,” said Su Yi, sounding gratified. “You haven’t disappointed me.”

He meant it, too. Judged purely by the strengths of their fleshly bodies, neither Wang Ye nor Li Fuyou would have been a match for Jian Xingyun!

But Su Yi’s praise made Jian Xingyun frown. His gaze filled with ruthlessness.

Boom!

He attacked once more.
