Chapter 2169 – Immortal Queen Zi Jue
The Celestial Yao Mountains, the greatest orthodoxy in the Billowing Blue Realm.
According to the intelligence Su Yi had received, they had seven yao gods to oversee things. Four were Creation Realm Lesser Gods, two were Limit Realm Mid-Rank Gods, and one was a Fortune Realm Greater God.
Based purely on their strength and accumulations, three other orthodoxies of the Billowing Blue Realm weren’t at all inferior to them. What set the Celestial Yao Mountains apart and secured their spot at the top was that they were backed by Qingwu Divine Court, a peak faction of the God Domain!
The Billowing Blue Realm was just one of numerous planes around the periphery of the Southern Flame Divine Continent.
And Qingwu Divine Court was based in the Southern Flame Divine Continent!
“Master, that’s Sky Blue City up ahead,” said the little monkey.
Their ship flew beneath the dome of heaven, but they could see the outline of an enormous city on the ground in the distance.
“It’s the city closest to the Celestial Yao Mountains, and they say it’s the most prosperous ancient city of the Billowing Blue Realm. It’s a gathering point for yao and demon cultivators from all over the world,” the little monkey explained quickly. “They say that you can sometimes bump into merchants and experts from the God Domain’s Southern Flame Divine Continent there, too.
“That aside, the city is a hub for information. It’s the first place in the Billowing Blue Realm to hear about recent developments in the Southern Flame Divine Continent.”
Su Yi nodded. “Let’s go there first.”
With that, he turned to look at Yang Shuang’er. “Send a message to your master. Arrange for her to meet us before we head to the Celestial Yao Mountains.”
Yang Shuang’er nodded.
When the group reached Sky Blue City, the little monkey set off alone to gather information on Su Yi’s orders.
Su Yi, meanwhile, brought Yang Shuang’er and Yang Ling’er on a stroll through the city. Along the way, they saw yao and demon experts all over the place!
But the inhabitants of Sky Blue City were much politer to humans than those of the Billowing Blue Realm’s other cities. When Su Yi and his companions arrived, they drew no small amount of attention, but they didn’t run into any real trouble.
The reason was simple. Sky Blue City was a hub of trade and information frequented by experts of the Southern Flame Divine Continent. These included no small number of powerful human experts, people that not even the city’s yao and demons dared to provoke.
Thus, no matter how much the city’s experts looked down on human cultivators, they typically wouldn’t cause trouble.
Su Yi and his companions strolled through the city for a while before finding a restaurant and ordering a table of sumptuous delicacies.
“Big Brother Xiao, can we really resolve our differences with the Celestial Yao Mountains?” A’Ling asked tentatively. She sat there, her brow fraught with worry.
Even though she’d lived her whole life in a remote village, the older villagers often spoke of the Celestial Yao Mountains with awe and dread!
“It’s all a matter of effort,” Su Yi said with a laugh. He raised his gourd of wine to his lips and had a sip
There was no getting around it; the restaurant was taking far too long to deliver their food. They’d been waiting for ten minutes, and they still hadn’t been given so much as a cup of tea.
As they conversed, a waiter arrived. He casually tossed several dishes onto the table, splashing some of the soup.
“Could you please be more careful?” Yang Shuang’er frowned.
The waiter was dressed in yellow, and his eyes were blue-green. When he heard that, he laughed coldly. “Consider yourselves lucky that we’re even letting you eat here! How dare you criticize my attitude? Aren’t you worried I’ll spit in your food?”
He was just a waiter, but he was extraordinarily proud and aggressive.
Yang Shuang’er’s expression darkened. “Do you have any idea who I am?”
Against her expectations, the waiter grinned. “Of course I do. Just now, the owner told me that you’re the only human disciple of the Celestial Yao Mountains, Yang Shuang’er. But… so what?”
He glanced provocatively at her out of the corner of his eye. “Do you dare to cause a disturbance here?”
Yang Shuang’er’s face went red with fury, but just as she was about to say something, A’Ling rose and slapped the waiter across the face, sending him staggering backward. He fell over onto his butt.
“You… dared to hit me?” The waiter clutched his face in disbelief.
“I’d dare kill you, too!” A’Ling said icily, her eyes flashing with murderous intent. “Apologize, or I won’t let this go!”
The server lay on the floor, quivering from head to toe.
When Yang Shuang’er saw this, she was stunned, and her heart coursed with emotion.
She was a core disciple of the Celestial Yao Mountains, and an immortal at that! But the server was a yao cultivator, so even when he was rude to her, she could only endure in silence.
Yet her little sister, who hailed from a remote village and who’d only just broken into the Profound Dao, dared to slap the man without the slightest politeness!
How could Yang Shuang’er not feel pathetic when she compared herself to her sister?
Su Yi sat there, watching as if all of this were perfectly normal.
Suddenly, an aged voice rang out of nowhere. “Little girl, who gave you the gall to cause trouble in my Fragrant Skies Tower?”
The restaurant’s owner had arrived. He was an old man in black robes with a full head of long silver hair. His face was covered in wrinkles.
A group of attendants trailed after him.
The other diners had long since noticed the discussion, and all of them were eager for a spectacle.
Fragrant Skies Tower was one of the best restaurants in Sky Blue City. Its customers were all either wealthy or from prominent backgrounds. Not even most yao experts would dare to cause trouble here.
Yet now, three humans were causing trouble here. This was far too rare a sight.
“Hah? And here I thought we were dealing with someone important. So, it’s Miss Yang.” The black-robed old man glanced coldly at Yang Shuang’er. “I wouldn’t normally have let people like you dine here, but I gave the Celestial Yao Mountains face and made an exception, only for you to cause trouble in my territory. Don’t you think… you’re crossing the line?”
“I…” Yang Shuang’er rose and was just about to explain, but the old man didn’t give her the chance.
“No need to explain. This old man has been in business in Sky Blue City for a long time, and I’ve hosted too many prominent experts to count. Even the higher-ups of the Celestial Yao Mountains have to treat me with a modicum of respect!
“Given my status, I disdain to bully a junior like you, but I cannot just let this go. If I did and word got out, what would the people of Sky Blue City take Fragrant Skies Tower for?”
Yang Shuang’er’s face paled. As a disciple of the Celestial Yao Mountains, she naturally knew of the proprietor’s illustrious background. Rumor had it that he was dear friends with some of the Celestial Yao Mountains’ elders!
She could in no way afford to offend someone like him.
“How about this? Give us a personal apology, then compensate us ten times your original bill, and we’ll let this go,” the old man said calmly.
Yang Shuang’er’s expression shifted erratically.
But A’Ling refused to accept this. “On what basis? Your waiter’s attitude was terrible, and he even said he’d spit in our food…”
The old man coldly interrupted her. “Miss Yang, who is this little girl? She doesn’t know her place, and she has no respect for her elders. She was the one who hit my waiter, wasn’t she?”
Yang Shuang’er sighed, then nodded. “Senior, this is my little sister. She behaved badly earlier, and I’m willing to pay any price to make things right. Please, don’t try to get even with a little child.”
The old man snorted coldly. “When you err, you must pay the price. How about this? Cut off the hand with which she slapped the waiter, and I’ll let this pass!”
Yang Shuang’er’s expression shifted dramatically.
But then, a pleasant female voice rang out.
“Master Huo, don’t you think bullying my disciple is beneath a man of your status?”
A figure appeared out of nowhere accompanying this voice. She was an extraordinary, dignified beauty in an ornate dress.
“Master!” Yang Shuang’er cried out excitedly, her face full of the utmost delight.
This new arrival was none other than her master, Immortal Queen Zi Jue. She was a prominent authority figure of the Celestial Yao Mountains!
Her arrival triggered a disturbance amongst the crowd.
The old man in black frowned, then forced a smile. “Since you’re here, Fellow Daoist Zi Jue, I’ll let this pass so long as that little girl lowers her head and apologizes.”
Immortal Queen Zi Jue inclined her head. “But of course.”
She then turned to Yang Shuang’er and said, “What were you thinking? How could you cause trouble here of all places? And why haven’t you thanked Master Huo for his magnanimity?”
Yang Shuang’er was just about to apologize when a calm voice rang out of nowhere. “Wait a moment. She’s your disciple, and she hasn’t done anything wrong. Why is it on her to apologize?”
Whoosh!
All eyes instantly turned toward the same place.
A young man in blue robes sat near the window, a wine gourd on the table in front of him. He looked leisurely and relaxed.
This was none other than Su Yi.
“What, you aren’t convinced?” The black-robed old man’s expression darkened. He recognized the old man as one of Yang Shuang’er’s companions.
“Shuang’er, what’s going on here?” Immortal Queen Zi Jue frowned, a bit displeased. They’d been on the verge of resolving this conflict when that young stranger impudently insisted on dragging it out. He was truly senseless!
“Master, that’s…” Yang Shuang’er was instantly frantic. She’d transmitted a message to her master earlier, but she hadn’t yet told her about Xiao Jian and the little monkey. She’d planned to introduce them when they met in person.
She hadn’t expected that anything like this would happen.
But just as she was about to explain, Su Yi shook his head. “It’s obvious who was right and who was wrong. What need is there to explain?”
“Hah? You’re quite arrogant, you little wretch!” The old man in black was so angry that he laughed.
Whap!
He took a crisp, clean smack to the cheek. Blood spurted from his mouth and nose, and several of his teeth fell out before he toppled over backward and landed on his butt.
The crowd was startled.
Who is this guy? This is Fragrant Skies Tower. How dare he slap the proprietor right in his own restaurant?
Immortal Queen Zi Jue was stunned, too. This slap had happened so quickly, to the point that she didn’t even have time to react!
A moment later, the crowd discovered that a monkey in undyed robes had appeared out of nowhere.
His eyes flashed like suns and moons, and his aura was utterly imposing!
“How dare you hit me?” roared the old man, completely overcome with anger. He hissed, “Do you have any idea who I am?”
Bang!
The little monkey kicked the old man in black, splattering him into pieces and killing him on the spot.
His blood stained the ground red.
“How dare a paltry little Saint Realm serpent yao insult my master? Your death is entirely unworthy of pity,” the little monkey snorted coldly. He’d yet to unleash the full extent of his ferocious aura, but he’d still astonished everyone present!
“And you! You’re just a waiter, not even an immortal yet, but you’re still this arrogant? You deserve to die too!”
With that, the little monkey kicked the waiter, too.
Bang!
The waiter was blasted into a bloody mist, and even his soul dissipated.
Deathly silence descended over the restaurant. Everyone was completely gobsmacked.
