Chapter 889: 888 Brotherly Love

“What?” Luo Haofeng’s suddenly heightened voice drew frowns from the other few people at the table, and Mo Xiuchen’s lips curled up in a sympathetic smile, “Ah Feng, don’t get too excited, Meng Ke and Bai Xiaoxiao haven’t developed to the point that you should be worked up about.”

Luo Haofeng sulkily pursed his lips and picked up a glass of alcohol from the table, tilting his head back and downing it, “Easy for you to say while standing, if Ranran was dating another man, I’d like to see you stay calm.”

“Oh, that hypothesis will never stand,” Mo Xiuchen stated, full of confidence and conviction, which only intensified Luo Haofeng’s frustration. He put down his glass and said, “Tomorrow I’m going to D Country, to tell Ranran that apart from you, no one wants her. Let her date a few handsome guys abroad, she doesn’t have to care about you.”

Mo Xiuchen laughed rather than got angry, “Fine, you go tell Ranran, and see if she’ll believe what you say, and if she’ll date other men. How about we bet ten million on it?”

“I think that’s a good idea.” Qin Mu lifted his glass, smiling at Luo Haofeng.

Luo Haofeng glared hatefully at Qin Mu, grumbling, “Ah Mu, you’re helping Xiuchen win money, but he won’t share a penny with you.”

“Haha, who said I won’t share, Ah Mu, we’ll split it fifty-fifty,” Mo Xiuchen immediately promised, and the smile at the corner of Qin Mu’s lips grew deeper as he slightly raised his glass to Mo Xiuchen.

Since they were sitting next to each other, Mo Xiuchen extended his water glass when he saw Qin Mu raise his, and they gently clinked glasses, causing Wen Jin and Gu Kai to burst into laughter while Luo Haofeng complained, “You two are actually colluding together, are we still brothers, can we still have fun together…”

“We can, aren’t we taking you out for fun right now?”

Gu Kai’s response drove Luo Haofeng’s frustration to new heights, and even Mo Xiuchen couldn’t help but let out a laugh.

Wen Jin, being kinder, did not add fuel to the fire but kindly suggested, “Ah Feng, if I were you, I’d fly to D Country to find Xiaoxiao right now instead of giving these guys the chance to make fun of you here.”

A flicker of hesitation crossed Luo Haofeng’s eyes, “Even if I fly to D Country now, Xiaoxiao won’t pay attention to me. Forget it, I should just head home first and sort out this business with Qi Meiling.”

Half a month ago, Luo Haofeng’s mother had directly taken Qi Meiling into the Luo Family residence and publicly proclaimed that Qi Meiling was her future daughter-in-law, taking her to various social events among the circles of high-society ladies. Now, the entire City B knows that Qi Meiling is Luo Haofeng’s fiancée and the future lady of the Luo Family.

Mo Xiuchen, seeing Luo Haofeng’s irritability, toned down his laughter and calmly said, “Ah Feng, you don’t need to be so downhearted. Once you take control of the family business, your mother won’t pressure you like this anymore. Plus, as far as I know, Qi Meiling’s brother has gotten into some trouble, and her father is unlikely to be clean either…”

Saying so much left those present understanding his implication.

Luo Haofeng looked at Mo Xiuchen with some surprise, “Xiuchen, you’ve investigated Qi Meiling’s father and brother?”

“Mhm, you don’t like her that much; I was curious, so I had someone check them out.”

Mo Xiuchen’s words were spoken with a light and breezy tone, but Luo Haofeng felt a surge of emotion. He didn’t for a moment believe that Xiuchen was just curious. This guy, seemingly cold and unemotional, often ruthless even to his own family for Wen Ran’s sake, but he truly valued brotherhood.

Even though he hadn’t regained his memory, and his acquaintance and understanding of them was only two months old, he still treated them as his best brothers.

It wasn’t out of curiosity; he wanted to help him get rid of Qi Meiling.

The reason Luo Haofeng’s mother was set on Qi Meiling was merely because their two company’s entanglements over the years were too deep, and it had reached a point where a marriage alliance was necessary to reassure both sides.

“Xiuchen, thank you,” Luo Haofeng said, expressing his gratitude seriously. In fact, he was well aware of the reasons himself, but it wasn’t easy to draw a clear line between the Luo and Qi families.

Although his parents were pressuring him on this matter, aside from that, they truly loved him. He couldn’t do what Xiuchen did to Mo Jingteng…

“You’ve been helping me for ten years, and I haven’t said thanks once; you’re in a hurry to say it now, I can’t decline to intervene even if I want to.”

Mo Xiuchen raised an eyebrow, looking at Luo Haofeng with a profound gaze, and the latter showed a flicker of excitement before suddenly laughing, regaining his usual nonchalant demeanor, “You saw right through me!”

Qin Mu smiled slightly and said to Luo Haofeng, “Call me if you need anything in the future.”

Although he had returned to A City, their brotherhood would last forever. It could not be weakened by distance, nor could he ignore it when his brothers needed him.

Luo Haofeng’s handsome brows raised slightly as he said without any courtesy, “Don’t worry, even if you’ve gone back to A City, if I need your help, I will call you back with just one phone call, no matter where you are in the world.”

It was like the time he had traveled alone, only to rush back from a thousand miles away because of Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran.

Qin Mu didn’t know why, but he thought of that incident. He lowered his eyelids, and a trace of desolation flickered in his eyes. From now on, Wen Ran would never need him again.

While Qin Mu was lost in thought, the ringing of a phone suddenly filled the private room. It was Gu Kai’s cell phone.

Gu Kai took out his phone, and a triumphant smile curved his lips when he saw the caller ID, “It’s Ranran calling me.”

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes narrowed slightly as he sipped his thin lips, choosing not to respond.

Qin Mu’s musings were interrupted by Gu Kai’s words. His hand tightened slightly on the glass he was holding and he tilted it back, draining the liquid inside.

“Hello, Ranran.”

Pressing the answer button, Gu Kai’s voice rang out, clear and cheerful.

Everyone at the table looked at him as he smiled radiantly, but deliberately kept the speaker off, not letting them hear Ranran’s voice.

Mo Xiuchen’s gaze paused on him for a second before glancing at Qin Mu, then stood up and left the private room.

Qin Mu put down his glass and followed him out.

A flicker of surprise crossed Gu Kai’s eyes as he watched the two leave. He then redirected his attention back to the phone conversation with Wen Ran.

Outside the private room, Mo Xiuchen stopped a few steps away and turned around to look at Qin Mu, who had come out with him.

Although the hallway lights were dim, they could still see each other’s expressions clearly.

With a gaze from Mo Xiuchen, Qin Mu’s face remained calm, devoid of any guilt, facing him boldly.

“Ah Mu, thank you for taking care of Ranran for me recently.”

After a moment of silence, Mo Xiuchen spoke softly, his voice deep and sincere.

Qin Mu’s eyes flickered, and a faint smile curved his lips, “Mo Xiuchen, I didn’t take care of Ranran for you; she took care of herself.”

“If you hadn’t followed her off the cliff that time, she might not be here now.” Mo Xiuchen’s tone was very calm, betraying no emotion, seemingly just stating a fact.

Qin Mu turned his head, looking towards the dark end of the corridor, and said lightly, “Before you went to D Country, I promised you that I would protect her well, but in the end, I almost let you lose her.”

Mo Xiuchen’s hand clapped on Qin Mu’s shoulder. Qin Mu’s tall frame stiffened slightly, but he didn’t turn around, simply listening as Mo Xiuchen said, “Ah Mu, what you have done for me and Ranran, I keep it in my heart. It’s not that I’m afraid you’re going to compete with me for Ranran, but rather, I don’t want to see you trouble yourself. So, I’m not asking you to stay.”

Qin Mu slowly turned around, looking into Mo Xiuchen’s profound and wise eyes. He wasn’t annoyed that his feelings had been discovered, but rather asked with a touch of curiosity, “When did you find out?”

Mo Xiuchen smiled wryly and replied honestly, “That morning in City C, when I saw you, I just felt it.”

Qin Mu didn’t seem surprised by the answer, which had been within his expectations, “Yeah, you knew before you lost your memory. When your health was deteriorating, you even thought about entrusting Ranran to me. I told you then that you should take care of your own wife, so, you don’t owe me any thanks.”
