Chapter 3039: Shattered

"Bang!!!!"

Wendt’s pupils contracted sharply.

Before his subordinate could launch the sneak attack, he exploded mid-air into a mist of blood.

"And you."

As Fang Heng spoke, he raised his right hand. Another Elven patrol team member was lifted into the air by lifeblood power.

Under the terrified gazes of the elves, blood uncontrollably flowed out from the guard’s eyes, nose, mouth, and ears, slowly gathering around his neck and gradually tightening.

He couldn’t utter a single word.

Fang Heng looked at the Elven squad captain Wendt, and said, "His life is in your hands. I’ll ask one last time—where is the Elven prison?"

Wendt’s Adam’s apple moved slightly as he replied, "It’s behind, follow this path forward, then turn right at the intersection. The area of the Ancient Tree of Life and the prison zone are both heavily guarded. You won’t get in."

"Is that so... then I won’t trouble you anymore."

As Fang Heng spoke, he lightly shook his head and quickly turned into a black shadow, disappearing from Wendt’s sight.

"Cough, cough, cough..."

Wendt and the other escort team member immediately lost the lifeblood power’s control and fell from the air, clutching their throats and coughing violently.

"Captain, are you alright?"

"I’m fine."

Wendt looked in the direction Fang Heng had disappeared, deeply shocked.

What exactly was that human? His strength was terrifyingly abnormal, and he had even invaded their Elven world.

This was bad!

Wendt immediately recalled Fang Heng asking about the prison and Cleriway. His heart jumped as he forced himself up and said, "An unknown intruder has entered our world. Let’s go, return immediately, and report to the elders! Have them reinforce the prison’s defenses!"

"Yes!"

The two of them rushed back toward the Tree of Life.

Wendt was gambling.

He bet that Fang Heng didn’t know the internal layout of the elves, so he had deliberately given Fang Heng a false route.

That way, they would have time to return and report, and prepare to intercept him at the prison.

Soon, Wendt and his companion returned to the Elven camp and reported everything about Fang Heng to the Head Captain in charge of security.𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

The Head Captain didn’t know who Cleriway was either. Upon hearing the news, he immediately deployed more guards to the prison and ordered a tight search of the periphery around the Ancient Tree of Life, personally reporting the matter to the Elders’ Council.

The elders of the Elders’ Council furrowed their brows deeply after hearing the report.

They were naturally aware of Cleriway’s case.

A human intrusion?

And looking for Cleriway?

Could this be related to the newly discovered Ancient Tree of Life?

The elves had concealed their existence from the outside world, and yet now an outsider had come knocking.

The Elders’ Council dared not be careless. The senior elder in charge of Cleriway’s case, Elder Brand, felt uneasy and personally led a team to investigate the prison.

...

The Elven Root Prison was located deep underground beneath the Tree of Life.𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

When Elder Brand and his team arrived, the Elven guard squad had already strengthened the prison’s defense, but no trace of the intruder had been found.

Since he was there, Brand decided to meet Cleriway and see if he could extract any information about the intruder from her.

"Cleriway."

The prison doors opened.

Brand looked at Cleriway, who was sitting in a corner of the prison cell, his eyes full of disdain, "Your friend has come looking for you."

Cleriway heard the voice and turned around to look at Brand. She walked over and knelt before the elder, "Elder, I did wrong. You can punish me however you wish, but I beg you to spare my friend."

"Hmph!"

Brand snorted coldly.

Looking at Cleriway and thinking of the impure bloodline flowing in her veins, he felt wrathful.

"Cleriway, you should know how important the Tree of Life is to us. You’re still alive only because you’re still of use. And you still want to plead with me? What right do you have? If you lead us to the Tree of Life, we will naturally let you and your friends go. But if you continue to be stubborn, your friends will die because of you."

Cleriway bit her lip and said nothing.

"Hmph."

Seeing that Cleriway remained obstinate, Brand snorted again. A cold sneer appeared on his lips, "Stubborn fool. Are you still hoping your friend will come to save you? The domain of the Tree of Life is entirely under its surveillance. As long as they dare step into it, they will die. I can assure you, they’ll die worse than you."

Cleriway’s face turned pale from Brand’s threats.

"I’m telling you, not just your friend—the entire Human World will be destroyed. Just wait and see. All those ’friends’ you speak of will die before your eyes!"

The more Brand spoke, the angrier he became. With a sharp wave of his hand, he left with his men.

Before they could leave the prison, a guard rushed in to report quietly, "Elder Brand, we just finished scouting the outside area. We found no traces of human intrusion."

"Hmph, I figured they wouldn’t dare enter the forest domain. Strengthen the defenses, continue monitoring, and report to me immediately if there’s any movement. If the intruder is found, you are authorized to kill on sight."

"Understood!"

Brand’s face grew darker.

The front lines against the humans were hard to manage. The spawns still hadn’t issued an order for a full assault, and the elves weren’t confident about winning a campaign away from home against the Human World, now infected by the Black Fog.

If he could eliminate the companion trying to rescue Cleriway, it might break her mental defenses and force her to reveal the exact location of the Tree of Life.

What Brand never expected was that Fang Heng hadn’t followed the guards’ misleading directions at all.

After leaving the two guards’ line of sight, Fang Heng quickly returned to spirit form and followed them from behind.

Even more, by transferring through spiritual possession repeatedly, Fang Heng had silently hidden near them and slipped into the prison completely unnoticed.

The Tree of Life was indeed very similar to Abe Akaya, and Fang Heng knew clearly that entering its domain directly would expose him to the Tree’s surveillance.

So instead, he chose to infiltrate.

Once Brand and the others left, Fang Heng used his spirit form to enter the prison where Cleriway was held.

Cleriway was curled up in the corner of the cell, hugging herself, trembling slightly.

"Cleriway."

"Cleriway!"

"Mm? Brother Fang Heng?"

Cleriway suddenly looked up and stood.

At first, she thought she was hallucinating.

But once she was sure it was Fang Heng’s voice, she cried out joyfully and looked around in confusion, trying to locate the source of the voice.

"Cleriway, I’m in spirit form right now, hidden—you can’t see me."

Cleriway couldn’t hide her excitement and nodded lightly. Then, as if realizing something, she said anxiously, "Brother Fang Heng, it’s very dangerous here. Leave, don’t worry about me. The elves have their eyes on Abe Akaya—they want his power to revive the Tree of Life. You must not let them find him. Otherwise, Abe Akaya will be in danger."
