Gravity Mage with Level-Up System
Chapter 1397 - 1397: Broken magic shield!From MC’s Perspective:
I started using the probe function, but the collections on the shelves turned out to be ordinary items. They are not useful.
A few minutes later, both of them returned and started serving the tea. Then we started discussing while having tea.
During the conversation, I came to know that Wizard Melissa’s family is connected to the Mage Union.
But she herself doesn’t belong to any Magic Towers. She is running her own business of antique collections and has buyers from foreign lands as well.
After her introduction, I told her about myself. My country and other medium and super large countries are collectively called the barren region.
Then she finally asked about the purpose of my visit.
“Wizard Melissa, if you don’t mind me asking, do you have a collection of magic scrolls?” I asked her.
“Scrolls?” Susan was taken aback.
She thought Vincent would be interested in ancient books or something, but she never imagined magic scrolls.
But Melissa’s eyes flickered. Among the antique collections, the magic scrolls are rare ones, as some of them might contain real spells. She no longer doubts the new wizard.
She thinks he is a knowledgeable person who came here for a reason.
“I have a collection. Let me take you to the basement,” Melissa said.
After having tea, she guided us toward her basement. When we arrived, I saw it was a wide, spacious room. The lights illuminated the whole place.
There are rows of desks and neatly arranged shelves. I started to look around, using the system function to probe each and every collection on the desks and shelves.
Melissa went to retrieve the magic scrolls, while Susan Park started to look around the room as well.
Shortly afterward, Melissa came carrying a few magic boxes in her hands. She placed them on the desk.
“Susan, wizard seed Vincent,” she said.
Hearing that, I turned around and walked toward her.
“You can call me by my name,” I said to her.
“Then you call me by my name first,” Melissa replied with a smile.
Hearing that, I was stunned. She was older than me and a level-9 Wizard as well. Feeling her firm gaze on me, I nodded and said, “Okay, Melissa. What do you have here?”
Hearing that, Melissa smiled. Then she opened the small boxes one by one. Each box was sealed, newly arrived, and she was going to unpack them for the first time.
In a blink of an eye, she opened all ten boxes.
Susan Park also came and saw there were magic scrolls inside each box.
“You are lucky to come here today. I got these packages yesterday. Maybe you can find something interesting here,” Melissa said.
Hearing that, I was surprised. I thanked her before using the probe function on these magic scrolls.
My gaze fell on each magic scroll one by one.
Both Susan Park and Melissa thought Vincent Carey was observing them.
On the other hand, I found no results on the status panel. It stated them as dead objects, which means the magic scrolls are now waste scrolls.
After going through all ten boxes, I turned toward them and said, “Is there any other box?”
Melissa was surprised. She looked at the totally new magic scrolls, also seeing them for the first time.
All ten magic scrolls were pretty old. She then thought of something before saying, “I have other collections. I’m going to retrieve them.”
She left after saying that, and Susan Park raised her eyebrows in surprise.
“What’s your obsession with the magic scrolls?”
“Are you planning to store magic spells inside?” Susan Park asked.
“I need them for study,” I replied.
It didn’t take long for Melissa to return with a few sets of boxes. She placed five boxes on the desk before opening them one by one.
Unlike the previous boxes, these magic scrolls were stored inside glass containers.
Before I could ask about them, Melissa said, “These are special magic scrolls because they belong to an old era, when they were first made.”
Hearing that, I was dumbfounded. I didn’t expect to see the original pieces. As usual, I started to probe the magic scrolls with the system.
When she opened all the magic scrolls, my eyes flashed with disappointment because the system results were the same.
“Did you like anything?” Melissa asked.
I shook my head.
Melissa was disappointed. She then said, “Unfortunately, I only have these collections with me.”
“If you want, you can take a look at other collections,” she added.
Hearing that, I said, “Okay.”
After saying that, I started to walk around the room.
Melissa looked at Susan and asked, “What does he want?”
Susan’s eyes lit up. She said, “I guess he is looking to create a trump card for himself. He doesn’t say it, but I think he wants to store a spell attack inside the scroll.”
“That’s why he wanted them to study,” she added.
Melissa was surprised. She said, “If he wants, he can always visit the magic store to buy the magic scrolls. Though the prices are high, you can actually buy one.”
She then thought of something before saying, “But if he is looking for them for study, then there is no problem with him looking at the collections.”
On the other hand, my eyes wandered around as I continuously used the system function. As time passed, I started to get bored.
I could tell that they were both waiting for me. I didn’t want to irritate them. Just as I turned around to leave—
[Ding! Object identified.]
[Ding! Damaged Artifact.]
A mechanical voice sounded in my mind. Hearing that, I turned around to look at the object. It was an old, run-down shield with a broken cover.
I walked up to the desk to take a closer look.
Susan Park and Melissa were surprised as well; at last, they saw him interested in something. Upon seeing the broken shield, Melissa’s eyes flashed with surprise.
Because she knew about the broken shield as well.
