GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2119 - 2119: Moving On.

The rank 3 assassin and the rank 2 seer are essentially the same in terms of tolerance to mental pain. The major difference is in the power of their minds.

The rank 3 assassin can sense and process information faster than the rank 2 seer. The rank 3 assassin can also resist the mark of bondage better, so he has a higher chance of escaping from the bondage than Amelia.

In fact, the difference in their chances of escaping can be as high as 100%. That means the rank 3 assassin has twice as much chance of escaping from them compared to the rank 2 seer.

They are just rank 1 despite having four pathways. It is not easy for a rank 1 to bind a rank 3 godclad. The gap is just too wide.

Actually, it should not be possible for an ordinary rank 1 slaver to bind a rank 3 godclad of any pathway. A normal rank 1 slaver shouldn’t have enough spiritual energy to do the deed.

Even though slavers have twice as much spiritual energy as other godclads, they will need to be at rank 3 in order to produce the 50 units of spiritual energy needed to bind a rank 3 godclad.

They can achieve what they have achieved because they have many pathways and 12 consciousnesses. But the gap in the spiritual power between them and the rank 3 assassin is still too much to overcome with quantity.

If the assassin is willing to endure the pain and uses something that can break the mark of bondage in his mind, he might be able to escape. It is clearly difficult for the rank 3 to escape, but it is possible.

If it happens and the rank 3 escapes, they will be in a lot of trouble because the assassin will do everything possible to kill them as revenge for what he went through.

This consideration is why they decided to spend more spiritual energy to create another mark of bondage and deposit it in the assassin’s mind. It cost them another 50 units of spiritual energy, but it granted them a much-needed insurance.

The ability to install more than one mark of bondage on a single person is a matter of mastery. They haven’t mastered this ability at all, but they can create more than one mark of bondage because they have three consciousnesses in control of that pathway.

Each consciousness is in control of one mark of bondage. Because they can’t control more than one mark yet, they are currently limited to three marks of bondage.

Of those three marks that they can control, they put two in the rank 3 assassin’s mind. It can be seen how much sacrifice they had to make to keep control of the assassin.

They didn’t appear before the assassin. They asked him some questions to confirm what Amelia told them. Then instructed him to act normally after beating him into submission.

The other three partners in crime arrived soon after. They met up with the boss and went into their base as if nothing had happened.

The giant was a woman. She was just rank 2, but she was already over seven feet tall.

The traveler and the merchant were both men. So of the five of them, two of them were women while the remaining three were men.

The rank 2 giant and the rank 1 merchant named Mirlo didn’t notice anything out of place. Only the rank 2 traveler felt uneasy.

The rank 1 ability of the pathway of traveling is called Speed Boost. This ability makes travelers faster than every other godclad in the same rank as them, and they can even match those one rank above them in terms of speed.

Because of this ability, very few rank 3 godclads can beat a rank 2 traveler in terms of speed. Assassins, who are also faster than normal, can barely beat them in terms of speed.

The rank 1 ability also grants the passive ability of increased agility and dexterity.

The rank 2 ability of the pathway of traveling is called Seeking Danger. This is an ability that passively makes them sense danger. If activated, they can sense sources of danger vividly, such as traps hidden in the ground and the number of people waiting in ambush.

The difference between the passive and active usage of the Seeking Danger. is the specificity of the information. When it is passive, travelers can sense danger, but they won’t know what the source of danger is. When it is active, they will know what and where the source of danger is so that they can avoid it.

The traveler was sensing danger, so he decided to activate the rank 2 ability to pinpoint the source of danger. Unfortunately, it couldn’t sense anything.

The ability would have sensed Legion if they didn’t have the Aegis shield. It was the Aegis shield that kept them unaffected by the ability. That is its job.

Any ability that tries to affect them will be blocked. Only abilities that don’t affect them or interact with them directly will work. This is the passive effect of the Aegis Shield.

Since the traveler didn’t sense anything, he sighed in relief and said, “Maybe I was just being paranoid.”

He put the matter out of his mind and went with the boss to prepare for evacuation. Fortunately, they didn’t have to evacuate because Amelia returned later.

She had had a bath and changed her clothes, so the urine and feces created when she was tortured were gone. She gave them a story about how she encountered the lamp bearers and was chased by them.

The chase delayed her. It was a good excuse for why she didn’t show up for so long.

Everyone believed her except the boss. He was suspicious of her story. After all, something went wrong with her and then he encountered someone unknown on his way to the base who enslaved him.
