Chapter 3873: Existence is Unfair II
The Dyson Singularity spun slowly around them, golden arcs bending across a cradle of folded infinities.
Noah floated in the eye of it all, his body wrapped in the silence of a Paradox that did not tremble. The folds were thick here, densely interlaced strands of Living Paradoxical Authority forming rivers and constellations, weaving through space like ancient veins of light.
Yet even in this grandeur, it was her, Moiraine, who took his attention.
She lay against him, head pressed to his chest, her body weightless but warm as her wings of white-gold light folded behind her. Her eyes remained closed, not from slumber, but to feel. To feel what he was as the scent and grandeur of an Early Creature was truly intoxicating to a Living Existence!
She didn’t ask exactly why as she continued to feel her existence increase in complexity, and Noah drew in extremely pure Living Paradoxical Authority from her body that was akin to an endless sea.
They spun slowly, wrapped in one another amid curling strands of paradox that moved like silk ribbons of gold. A moment of stillness, suspended in the folds between what was and what might be.
When Moiraine finally spoke, her voice held awe.
"You are not simply a Paradox that does not produce Inevitabilities," she murmured. "Your blood, aura, your scent... what are you, really?"
She could not help but ask in her booming yet silent celestial voice!
Noah didn’t answer. He only smiled, his hand lightly brushing against the white gold hair on her head as the golden infinity surrounding them dimmed ever so slightly.
Moiraine exhaled slowly.
"Don’t tell me then," she said, as if reading his silence. "Not yet. Let us navigate your place here first. Once the Honored Living Golden Paradox arrives, I will advise you on what to say, how to present yourself."
She pulled back slightly, just enough to meet his gaze.
"I’ll open paths for you through which all Lineages of the Living Paradoxes can grant you resources to rapidly take you across Originus Venerant and beyond. In time, we will utilize some collected Keys to get you close to the weavings of the Loom..."
...!
A quiet shiver passed through the Singularity at the mention of the Loom, as if it recognized the weight of such a wonder!
Noah’s golden eyes sparked with curiosity.
"The Keys..." he said. "Tell me about the Keys."
Moiraine’s fingers pressed lightly into his side as she continued calmly.
"They lead to Unique Living Fold Doorways," she said. "Each a Pocket Fold close to the Loom. Some are known and established. Most... remain unexplored. They are dangerous places for Living Existence as many times, we even have Fold Dwellers enter them as without Living Existential Authority, they are actually able to make it further if they are powerful enough. Other Living Existences have a hard time, and for Living Paradoxes, it has been impossible as nearly all Doorways the Keys lead to are bathed with some version of Paradox. The deeper in we go, the more Inevitabilities that rise!"
HUUM!
"You...would be able to change many things. But..."
Her voice dropped, softening.
"You don’t have to worry about that now. Depending on how your path unfolds, many things will change. The moment you stepped into our Folds without birthing Inevitabilities, your very presence changed the movements of Living Paradoxes from here onwards."
She looked at him fully now.
"You will become a target. All other Living Existences will want you gone. But I will protect you."
Noah raised an eyebrow, finishing the rotation of their spin as the ribbon of paradox spiraled around them again.
"You’ll protect me?"
He closed his eyes for a moment, feeling the final set of Towers of Origin slot into place inside him, his Atlas of Existence shimmering in golden resonance.
"There will be many enemies coming for me," he said. "There already are at this very moment."
WAA!
Moiraine’s eyes glowed with starlight.
"My power was already high," she said, voice majestic and Paradoxical, "But after what you did for me... it’s doubled. My complexity now approaches some of the more powerful Paradoxes in the Goldfolds, close to an Honored Living Paradox. I won’t let anything get past me in order to protect you."
HUUM!
Her conviction was a thing of silence and wonder.
Noah nodded.
But...
BZZZT!
He felt it.
A shift.
Not an attack, not a signature!
An inevitability!
BOOM!
A glyph blazed on his forehead- the Basic Early Living Existential Glyph of the Protagonist- its golden design spinning as it tried to ward off what was arriving!
But what approached now... was far too complex.
Far, far too complex!
Behind him, jaws bloomed from nothingness.
They did not merely appear. They had always gloriously and paradoxically been there.
Teeth glistened white and crystalline, rows upon rows of perfect clarity. The tongue was a nest of writhing paradoxical tentacles, each one older than time, each one bearing memory. The lips, full and red, glistened like they were bleeding.
They came with purpose.
Before Moiraine could react, before Noah could act, before paradox could fold into defense...
The jaws descended.
Time slowed.
In that slowing, in that stuttering beat of stillness, Noah’s face turned. His eyes widened as the glyph on his forehead flickered in wild defiance.
Moiraine bellowed with fury and surged forward.
Her wings exploded with Living Paradoxical Authority.
She moved. Sought to change places with him.
But what was coming... was already there.
What she sought to stop... had already happened.
And yet she tried.
With the full strength of her risen power, she defied the impossible.
WAP!
The jaws clamped shut.
Teeth pierced the golden Singularity. They pierced paradox.
They pierced Noah.
And then...
BOOOOOM!
The Dyson Singularity cracked.
A massive white tear, impossibly wide, slashed through the heart of it. Everything shattered. The golden folds collapsed like stained glass struck by a hammer!
Living Paradoxical Authority surged out, wild and unbound, like screams torn from the roots of Existence.
Moiraine’s roar drowned it all.
Her cry was shock and anguish. Fury. Defiance wrapped in grief.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!" she bellowed, her voice shaking the remains of the Singularity.
"WHAT! HAVE! YOU! DONE?!"
HUUM!
And nothing answered.
Not yet.
