ISEKAI JOURNEY OF THE MAGIC ARCHER

Chapter 1167 - 1167: In the new light

[OP: ]

The feathers that had scattered around the area seemed like leaves under the faint scattered sunlight that illuminated the area.

There were many feathers around, each one of them were unique and were scattered in a way that gave them just enough space to create a complete barrier around the creature who was controlling them.

The feathers themselves were covered in a strong Mana that gave the feathers a sharp, blade-like edge.

Just like the name of the creature, the weapon that it was using possessed qualities that rivaled that of a sharp weapon.

The way the creature was using it seemed like a telekinesis user using a bunch of objects, or someone with very great precision and controlling powers using something that one could not under master with just practice, made the creature seem far more dangerous.

There was no way the creature was as simple as it had seemed at the beginning. Right now, it wasn’t simply a being that was hunting something.

The hunter had just become the prey and thus, the beast’s survival instincts had already kicked in, making the creature much different from what it was just a few moments ago.

[{ “How did it change so suddenly… Big brother?” }]

Anna was pretty confused right now.

All the emotions that she was feeling from the creature a moment ago were gone. Now, a new set of emotions had replaced them.

If the creature was strong and calm before, it was anxious and in a state that was closer to chaotic.

While it seemed just as calm as it previously did, the creature was in fact afraid of the two that had appeared out of nowhere.

[{ “It did not change, Anna. The creature simply perceived a threat to its life. It’s simply doing what it would to survive… this is what you call a beast’s survival instincts.” }]

The Mana that it was using right now was not healthy. It would run out of Mana pretty soon with the way it was using it.

To control these hundreds of feathers at the same time, and to use them with the intention of defeating the opponents, the energy and mental stamina required was simply too great.

The only reason the creature was using this extreme method in the first place…

[{ “It’s afraid of them.” }]

Their grandfather knew how the beast might be feeling right now.

[{ “It knows it cannot win against them… or run away from them.” }]

It did not have the mobility to outrun Chry. it also did not have the kind of power that Quin’s spells possessed.

The destructive power, the sheer force of her spells, the strength of his sword, and the way they synergised to fight against the creature… just the attacks from before were enough for the creature to realise what it was fighting against was beyond his limits.

But, it cannot just give up on his life either. At the end of the day, even though it was humanoid, it was a creature with instincts.

It cannot give up on its life. The two were attacking him with the intention to kill, it had sensed that much already so, as its last struggles, it was using everything that it had.

[{ “It wants to run away.” }]

It was so obvious what the creature wanted or was trying to do with such a flashy display.

[{ “Even if it cannot outrun Chry, if it somehow creates an opening and harms either one of them before vanishing into the forest, it can save itself.

It’s a simple tactic, both of them have realised that already. And, the creature also knows that they know what it was trying to do, which makes things even more fun to watch.” }]

Eon was looking forward to how this battle unfolds and so did the rest of them.

-Boooooooooom!

The fight wasn’t decided with the first move made by the creature… it was going to be a progressive battle. They weren’t going to know the results until the end, so they watched as the creature moved his feathers and created a barricade around him while sending some of the feathers after both of them from different directions.

[{ “Chry. Formation B2.” }]

[{ “Ok.” }]

Quin was a mage that possessed a keen control over Mana. Her ability to control Mana, her ability to control water to be specific, was so great that there were few who compare with hers.

She was the master of an Ocenoid, a being that was an extension of water itself. She already possessed as high an affinity for water as she did for the null element. Coincidentally, her null element was also related to water bodies, making her affinity for water even greater.

There were many tools in her possessions that helped her control her powers– she not only possessed a grimoire full of magical powers, a magical artifact of ancient times, she also possessed many other enchanted artifacts thanks to Eon and Zoe.

If she wanted, she would single handedly take down a being like this one. But in the forest, their goal was not to defeat these creatures but to move to their destination.

They were here to explore and see. Therefore, in this battle, she was going to use tactics instead of brute force to take on this tough opponent.

-Oooooooooooooong!

The two person formation that the two of them had mastered was simple: the mage would take the front while the knight would guard the back.

It was an unconventional positioning. The mage was usually at the back, but here, Quin had taken on the front.

Chry was guarding the back as he waited for his turn. The feathers that were attacking him, each one of them were deflected even before they could reach anywhere near him.

He was holding his EFMW in its sword form. There was lightning circling around him. There was also a golden light present each time the feathers around him were defected.

However, after only a few moments, the creature realised attacking the one on the back was only going to consume his energy, and thus he focused all his attention on the mage at the front.

-Ooooooooooooooong!

The feathers moved like a coordinated flock. They made no sound even as they slicked through the air around them, moving in a way that no simple weapon could.

The feathers themselves had no presence to them and with the speed that they were moving, it was difficult for the eyes to track all of them together.

However, the mage that he was facing did not have to keep her eyes open to fight someone like him.

-Clank! Clank! Clank!

-Clank! Clank!

-Clank!

Quin was using very dense water droplets to counter or offset the feathers!

-Clank! Clank!!!

Each time a feather came in contact with the hundreds of water drops that were present around her, the droplets would explode and the feathers would change their directions ever so slightly that they would miss her by a pretty large margin.

She was not using any flashy spells. She was not using any high level magic either. The simple spell that she was using and the Mana control that she had was simply a masterful sight.

If the elder mages of the elder council were to see her do this, they would spare no moments to approach her and fight over her to get her as their apprentice.

[{ “The Master of blue and white magic towers would spark a war over her, hehe.” }]

Rein was having fun as she watched the desperate attempts of the creature.

It wanted to survive. It wanted to live.

It wanted to get away from those cold, emotionless blue-gold eyes which saw her as nothing more than a beast.

Quin did possess empathy and all the innocence that she initially did, but over the last few months as she experienced all the things that she did while living with these people, she had realised there was much more in this world than attachment to people around her.

She had killed creatures when she used to live with her grandpa on the island. Her grandfather had prepared her for killing any beast that she needed so, for her, even though they also possessed a life of their own, they were still just beasts that she could kill without mercy.

In this situation, she was genuinely surprised to see a creature with such great control over Mana.

The way it was using its feathers and the way it had imbued them with Mana was quite phenomenal. She did not know it was possible to control Mana imbued into some other object.

Perhaps it was because the creature was using a part of its own being, but still, to see a sight like this… to see these hundreds of blade-like feathers dancing around her, moving simply in order to take her life, was a new experience for her.

[{ “Chry. Sorry but can I take this one on by myself? I just got an idea.” }]

[{ “You can do as you wish, malady.” }]

He did not mind it. In fact, he already predicted this would happen– he already knew Eon also paired the two of them for things to turn out this way.

[{ “Thanks.” }]

If it was a battle of control over Mana, those who possessed a higher Mana pool as well as a better control technique would always be the winner.

Age, experience, talent… all of it mattered, surely. But they were not as important as the technique that was used to take control of the Mana, or the understanding of what this ‘control’ actually was.

-OOOOOOOOOOOONG!

[{ “She realised it.” }]

[{ “Mannnn… it was just starting to get fun!” }]

Quin was better at Mana control in every aspect.

There was no need for her to just defend against the attacks of the creature when all it was doing was to simply use Mana imbued feathers.

{(Sever)}

It was possible for a better mage to cut the connection that a controller had with their Mana organs.

It wasn’t easy, not even for a mage like Quin…

“…!!!”

But, it was very much possible.

And, she had just learned that she could do something like that as well.
