Chapter 4703: Going Down to Sea

Du Fan concisely relayed the information he had meticulously gathered, then stood quietly, his gaze fixed on Feng Jiu, awaiting her decision. As Feng Jiu listened, her heart suddenly leaped as she looked at him with surprise.

"The Eastern Sea Spirit Realm... Why didn’t I think of that?" she murmured, almost to herself. The realization seemed to jolt her back to full awareness. She immediately rose, a new resolve firming her features. "I have to go there myself," she declared.

Hearing this, Du Fan hesitated for a brief moment. "Master, perhaps we should wait for Luo Yu and the others to send back confirmed news before we depart?" he suggested, a touch of caution in his tone. "After all, this is merely our conjecture, and we haven’t actually verified whether Hell’s Lord is truly there."

Feng Jiu, however, shook her head, dismissing his reservations. "Whether he is or not, I must go there myself," she stated unequivocally. "You go and make the necessary arrangements! We’ll set off momentarily. Let Leng Hua and Leng Shuang accompany us. The others can attend to their respective duties."

"Yes," Du Fan replied, understanding that her mind was made up. He didn’t attempt to dissuade her further. Instead, he bowed respectfully and turned to carry out her orders.

Alone for a moment, Feng Jiu’s hand gently caressed a book lying on the table – a book he used to sit there and read often. "Mo Ze, is that you?" she whispered, her voice barely audible. "If it is you, why haven’t you returned? Are you seriously injured? Or is there some other reason?" Seeing the book now, it was as if he had never left her side, an ever-present memory in the quiet study.

The East Sea Spirit Realm stretched out, a vast and enigmatic expanse of ocean. Its waters, a deep, fathomless blue, remained perpetually calm, with barely a ripple or a whisper of wind throughout most of the year. However, over the past year, cultivators had begun to notice a peculiar and recurring phenomenon.

Once every three months, powerful waves would inexplicably surge in this specific area, and even more astonishingly, the beasts inhabiting the nearby forests would converge upon the shore, kneeling and howling in unison.

This strange occurrence ignited rampant speculation among cultivators. Could it be the manifestation of some rare and powerful treasure within the sea’s depths? Or perhaps the birth of an ancient divine beast, signaling a momentous event in the world? Alternatively, was it merely the appearance of some unique, strange treasure in this realm? Many were deeply intrigued by the mystery. In recent months, large numbers of adventurous souls would strategically avoid the specific day when the beasts performed their strange ritual, instead arriving at the sea to try and salvage any treasures that might have been swept to the ocean floor.

However, the Lingyu Sea was renowned for being both bottomless and treacherous. Even those possessing formidable strength hesitated to venture into its abyssal depths in search of riches. This caution intensified significantly after several daring adventurers, risking their lives in small boats, were tragically swept into the sea’s profound depths, never to be seen or heard from again. Consequently, most people now dared only to observe from a safe distance, unwilling to risk their lives.

It took Luo Yu and Gu Mo more than half a month to reach the Spirit Realm in the East Sea. Upon their arrival at the sprawling seaside, they were met with a surprising sight: numerous groups of cultivators and mercenaries already gathered, creating a bustling, almost festive atmosphere. They couldn’t help but exchange a knowing glance.

"I heard that this sea area is exceptionally dangerous, but I didn’t expect that so many people would be unafraid of death and come here to join the excitement," Luo Yu remarked, raising an eyebrow with a slight smile. He nudged Gu Mo beside him with his elbow and asked, "What do you think? How should we go down into the water?"

"Didn’t we bring water-repellent pearls?" Gu Mo responded, his gaze scanning the surroundings. "Let’s enter the sea from over there! There are fewer people in that direction, so we won’t draw unnecessary attention or cause a commotion." He subtly motioned for Luo Yu to look towards another part of the beach.

Luo Yu followed his gaze and saw that the indicated section of the beach was partially sheltered by large rocks, indeed with significantly fewer people. If they were to enter the water discreetly, that would undoubtedly be the most advantageous spot. He pondered for a moment, then glanced up at the darkening sky. "We’re not familiar with this area, and it’s dangerous to go into the sea at night," he concluded. "It’s already late, so let’s wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow, when it’s light, we’ll quietly go into the sea and find out what’s truly going on."
