Chapter 4717: Lying in wait
Yue’er smiled at him and didn’t answer, but said, “It’s dangerous in here, you’d better leave quickly! Otherwise, you’ll run into fierce beasts and get into trouble. I know where the way out is, I’ll tell you!”
The little boy paused, a flicker of hesitation in his eyes. “I can’t go back the way I came in,” he confessed, his voice barely a whisper. “Those people must be guarding the entrance. If I go out there, they’ll surely kill me.”
“Don’t worry, there’s more than one way out of here!” Yue’er said with a smile, taking a piece of dried meat out of her space and handing it to him. “I roasted this yesterday. You can eat it.”
“Thank you,” the little boy replied, taking it and tore off a piece and began to ate while asking, “Are you coming out with me?”
“I’m not leaving yet,” she said, shaking her head. “I still have things to do here! I have to stay for four more days.” She shook her head, walked over and removed the array as she was busy collecting the small flags.
Then she walked with him for a while, pointed in a direction, and said, “If you keep going in this direction, you’ll be able to get out. I’ve checked, and there’s a mountain path outside. If you follow the mountain path, you’ll be able to get out.”
However, the little boy made no move to leave. Instead, he hesitated, his shoulders slumping slightly. “I don’t dare to go by myself,” he admitted, his voice small and fearful. “I’m afraid I’ll encounter fierce beasts. I can’t fight them.”
Hearing this, Yue’er blinked, her beautiful eyes fixed on him for a long moment. A little frown creased her delicate face, a sign of her internal struggle. She seemed genuinely distressed by his predicament. “You don’t dare to go by yourself? I can’t take you out now because it will waste my time; I still have to collect more crystal cores. Otherwise, why don’t you stay here with me for a few more days, and then you can come out with me?”
“Alright.” The little boy nodded readily, a spark of hope in his eyes. He looked at her directly. “My name is Lin Yang. What’s your name?”
“My name is Yun Qi,” Yue’er replied with a bright smile. “I’m going to look for more fierce beasts now; do you want to come with me?”
“Look for fierce beasts? Aren’t you afraid?” he asked, a blank look of surprise on his face.
“No, I’m not afraid, because I’m very powerful~” she stated with utmost confidence.
Lin Yang hesitated for a moment, then, driven by curiosity and a lingering sense of safety near her, he made his decision. “Then I’ll go with you and take a look!”
And so, after several solitary days in the vast wilderness, Yue’er finally had a little friend to talk to. She led Lin Yang towards another of her strategically chosen formation points, eager to see if any more fierce beasts had been successfully trapped.
When they arrived at another spot and entered the formation, they saw five fierce beasts lying motionless on the ground. She happily walked forward and said, “Maybe I can leave here and go back in three more days.”
As she spoke, she walked towards the fierce beasts and took out her dagger, preparing to stab them again. Suddenly, one of the fierce beasts lying motionless on the ground jumped up, growled, and lunged at her.
“Be careful!” Lin Yang saw this and was so frightened that his face turned pale, and he instinctively cried out
Yue’er also didn’t expect that there would be a fierce beast lying in wait here. However, her reaction was remarkably swift. Almost at the same time the beast pounced towards her, she took a step to the side and dodged its jaws.
“Hurry up and climb the tree! Quick!” Yue’er shouted to Lin Yang, who was still standing on the other side, momentarily frozen in a daze of terror.
“Oh, oh!” Lin Yang came to his senses, but his small face was pale, and there was obvious fear in his eyes. The more panicked he became, the more flustered he became, and after two attempts, he was still unable to climb the big tree.
