Chapter 4729: Choose

When the cultivators saw the little girl dart away into the distance, they immediately raised their spirit energy to give chase. However, as they did so, a wave of dizziness washed over them, and their figures swayed precariously.

“Is this the lowest grade of soft bone powder?” one of them exclaimed, wide-eyed and seemingly unable to believe that the little girl had actually used poison on them while their guard was down.

Another person’s face darkened considerably. He quickly sat down cross-legged to regulate his qi, saying, “How could it be the lowest grade of soft bone powder? That kind of poison has absolutely no effect on people with our cultivation level. This poison has been expertly refined by a true master.”

The others also quickly sat down cross-legged, a grim realization dawning on them. Shen Shiqi sighed, shaking his head. “How incredibly careless of us! When did that little girl manage to do it? How could none of us possibly notice anything?”

“What are you talking about? Hurry up and get the medicine out of your system, then catch up with that little girl and teach her a proper lesson!” another cultivator urged, closing his eyes and regulating his breathing to forcefully expel the poison from his body.

Given their immense strength and high cultivation, it wouldn’t even take half an incense stick’s time—a short measure of time, typically around five to ten minutes—to force the medicine out and fully recover. Once they were back to their full strength, catching up with that little girl would only be a matter of time and a simple exercise in speed.

Originally, the cultivators were just bored and had been playfully teasing her, genuinely curious to follow her and inquire about her background. They wanted to know what kind of family she came from, how she could be so exceptionally well-taught at such a young age, or, more specifically, who her mysterious master was. They were simply fascinated that someone so young possessed such extraordinary footwork. Now, after experiencing the little girl’s cunning trick, their curiosity had transformed into a firm determination to catch her. They weren’t angry, but rather more intrigued than ever.

Yue’er, who had left first, waited until she could no longer see the distant figures of the cultivators before she finally let out a relieved breath and patted her chest. She knew she wasn’t as strong as them and certainly couldn’t outrun them in a straightforward chase, so she had to find a clever way to make them lose her. However, those few people seemed to be incredibly powerful. She hadn’t dared to use any overly potent drugs, fearing they might detect them immediately. Thus, she could only use colorless, odorless, and relatively mild drugs to buy herself some crucial time to escape.

“They’ll definitely catch up with me,” she muttered to herself, a flicker of worry in her eyes. “If they do, I’ll be in big trouble.” She kept running, employing her fastest and most intricate footwork, pushing herself to the very limit.

She continued until she came to an intersection up ahead, where she finally stopped.

There were two distinct roads before her: one that continued straight ahead, and another that branched off sharply to the left. Originally, she had planned to take the road straight ahead. However, turning left would lead her back to the small town she had passed earlier and then, eventually, to another road leading in a completely different direction. Choosing the left road would mean taking a significantly longer route to return to Yunxiao Mountain, which would undoubtedly cost her valuable time.

She bit her lip, her gaze flitting between the two diverging paths in front of her. She gritted her teeth, a fierce determination hardening her small face, and finally chose one of them.

Moments later, when the pursuing cultivators caught up and arrived at the same three-way intersection, they also came to a halt.

“There are two roads here, which one will that little girl take?” one of them pondered aloud.

“She should go straight, right?” another suggested, pointing to the road ahead. “The road on the left is the way back, and that little girl probably won’t go back, so I think she should go straight ahead.”

“That’s true,” Shen Shiqi mused, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. “But that little girl is small but cunning, and she certainly can’t be treated like an ordinary child. You think she’ll go that way, but she might do the exact opposite, right?”

The person next to him heard this and paused for a moment, a look of disbelief on his face, before responding, “No way! How old is that little girl? How could she possibly think of so many twists and turns?”
