Myth Beyond Heaven

Chapter 2797 - 2797: The End of The Era (1)

Yun Lintian stood before the colossal eye of the God of Death in the Netherworld, the gathered fragments of the Primordial God’s body hovering around him—Hei Shou, Brother Leg, the torso, and the head. Only the eyes remained, watching him with ancient, unfathomable wisdom.

The air thrummed with power, the weight of eons pressing down on the chamber.

“You have done well. It’s much faster than I thought.” the God of Death’s voice echoed, deep and resonant. “Now, the final step remains.”

Yun Lintian exhaled slowly. “Refining your body into my vessel.”

“Yes.” The eye pulsed with approval. “But know this—the process is not merely about absorbing power. It is about merging with Death itself. You will endure trials beyond physical pain. Your soul will be tested.”

Yun Lintian’s golden eyes gleamed with resolve. “I’m ready.”

The God of Death’s gaze lingered on him. “Then let us begin.”

A dark sigil flared to life beneath Yun Lintian’s feet, tendrils of shadow coiling around his legs. The fragments of the God of Death’s body—the hand, leg, torso, and head—floated toward him, their energies intertwining.

The moment the first fragment, Hei Shou, touched his right arm, agony exploded through his meridians.

“Agh—!”

His veins turned black as death energy flooded his body. His muscles spasmed, his bones creaking under the pressure. The pain was beyond anything he had ever experienced—worse than the Devourer’s corruption, worse than the War God’s trials.

“This is only the beginning,” the God of Death intoned. “To wield Death, you must first understand it.”

Yun Lintian gritted his teeth. “I’ve faced death before.”

“Not like this.”

Suddenly, his vision darkened.

Yun Lintian found himself standing in an endless graveyard, the sky a roiling mass of black clouds. Before him stretched countless tombstones, each bearing a name he recognized.

Yun Qianxue. Long Qingxuan. Lin Xinyao. Yue Yun. Linlin. Qingqing.

His wives. His companions. His family.

All dead.

A cold wind howled, carrying whispers of final breaths, last regrets.

“This is the truth of mortality,” the God of Death’s voice whispered. “All things end. Even those you love.”

Yun Lintian’s fists clenched. “I know.”

“Then accept it.”

The graves trembled. Skeletal hands burst from the earth, grasping at his legs, dragging him down.

Yun Lintian did not resist.

He let himself sink.

Darkness swallowed him.

For an eternity, there was nothing. No light. No sound. No thought.

Only the void.

***

In the endless void where time twisted upon itself, a towering figure sat upon a throne of fractured spacetime. His form flickered between youth and decay, his very presence warping reality around him.

The Lord of Chaos.

The true body of Nian Shi.

His eyes—pools of swirling temporal energy—snapped open.

“He has begun the fusion.”

His voice echoed across the void, resonating with the weight of countless eras. Before him, space rippled, and a figure emerged—tall, clad in black robes, his face obscured by a shifting mist that defied perception.

Nian Shi’s lips curled.

“It is time.”

The masked subordinate bowed deeply. “Your will shall be done, my lord.”

Nian Shi raised a hand, and the fabric of time itself unraveled around his fingers. “Break the seal. Let the end begin.”

The masked figure vanished without a trace.

***

The Primal Chaos Wall – Outer Boundary.

The Primal Chaos Wall stood as the last barrier between order and annihilation—a colossal expanse of divine energy woven by the combined might of the Primordial Gods and was enhanced by Yun Lintian. For eons, it had held firm against the Realm of Chaos, a bulwark against Nian Shi’s corruption.

But now, space twisted.

A rift tore open, and the masked figure stepped forth.

His presence alone caused the Wall to tremble. The ancient formations inscribed upon its surface flickered, their light dimming as if drained by an unseen force.

Without hesitation, the masked man raised his hand.

A formation disk materialized—black, pulsing with chaotic energy, its patterns shifting like living shadows.

“By the will of the Lord of Chaos,” he intoned, “this era ends today.”

The formation disk struck the Wall with the force of a dying star.

CRACK!

A sound like shattering glass echoed across the cosmos. The Primal Chaos Wall—the divine barrier that had stood for eons—split open like fragile porcelain.

Black veins spread across its surface, devouring the golden light of its protective formations. The very fabric of space groaned under the strain, as if the universe itself were being torn apart.

Inside the Wall, the four Dragon Gods—Long Xi, Long Yi, Long Er, and Long San—stood frozen in horror.

“Impossible!” Long Yi roared, his draconic aura erupting.

Long Xi’s golden eyes reflected the crumbling barrier. Her voice was barely a whisper. “Unless… it’s him… The God of Time.”

The masked figure hovered before the Wall, his form wreathed in chaotic energy. With a single gesture, he pressed his palm against the fractured surface.

“Break.”

The Wall screamed.

Long Xi acted before the others could react. Her divine sense tore through dimensions, reaching across the Primal Chaos in desperation.

“Yue Yun! The Wall is falling!”

Her voice thundered in the minds of everyone in Nine Firmament City.

At the same moment, she tried to reach Yun Lintian—but his consciousness was sealed away in the Netherworld, beyond her grasp.

The four Dragon Gods exchanged glances. Without another word, they shot toward the Wall, their bodies transforming into colossal golden dragons, their scales gleaming with divine power.

They had to hold the line.

Even if it cost them their lives.

***

Inside the Nine Firmament City, Yue Yun’s eyes widened as Long Xi’s message struck her mind.

“The Wall—!”

Beside her, Yun Qianxue’s frost aura exploded uncontrollably. “What’s happening?”

Yue Yun didn’t answer. Instead, she raised her Moon Staff and slammed it into the ground.

BOOM!

A spatial rift tore open, revealing the distant Primal Chaos Wall—and the horrifying truth.

It was breaking.

Chunks of divine energy shattered, dissolving into nothingness. Beyond it, an endless tide of chaotic energy surged forward, hungrily devouring reality itself.

“No…” Lin Xinyao whispered.

“We’re out of time,” Yue Yun growled. “Gather everyone. We hold the line until Lintian returns.”

***

The masked figure watched dispassionately as the Primal Chaos Wall crumbled.

The formation disk had done its work—corrupting the ancient seals, unraveling the divine energy that held the barrier together.

And now, the Realm of Chaos spilled forth.

Tendrils of distorted time and space lashed out, consuming everything in their path. The very laws of existence twisted—mountains turned to dust, rivers flowed backward, and cultivators caught in the periphery aged to ash in seconds…
