Chapter 5944 Unleashed Killing Intent
“What?!”
Orchid Mound City was actually expelling Prince Chunyang? That was equal to slapping the Zither Sect across the face!
The Zither Sect was one of the four immemorial divine sects, its origins tracing all the way back to the primal chaos era. Its inheritance had remained unbroken through countless ages, and its foundation was unfathomably deep.
Moreover, the Zither Sect was revered as a symbol of righteousness across the world. They didn’t just protect the human race, so all races respected and honored them. And now, such a transcendent sect was being driven away?
What people found most baffling of all was that while Orchid Mound City expelled the Zither Sect’s disciples, they treated Long Chen—someone suspected to be a nine star heir—with the utmost respect. Their attitudes toward the two parties couldn’t have been more different. What was going on?
“Is this a declaration of war against the Zither Sect?” shouted one of the female disciples.
Li Chunyang’s expression immediately darkened, and he immediately rebuked, “Yue-er!”
However, the city lord ignored Yue-er’s rudeness. She mildly replied, “This place is Orchid Mound City. The Divine Sovereign is unhappy with you, so what’s wrong with asking you to leave? Must a simple request be taken as a declaration of war? Are you the voice of the heavens now?”
Li Chunyang’s expression twitched. He couldn’t believe it. What had changed? Just yesterday, the city lord had praised him generously. Why was she suddenly treating him like this? She was clearly siding with Long Chen. Even a fool could see it.
“City Lord, please quell your anger. Yue-er is young and ignorant. When we return, the Zither Sect will punish her accordingly,” said Li Chunyang, cupping his fists. “But I truly don’t understand… I’ve shown nothing but respect, so why would the Divine Sovereign be displeased?”
Shaking her head, the city lord replied, “I don’t know the reason either. But this is the will of the Sovereign Lord. Let’s end it here. I regret that you must leave like this.”
Despite her politeness, the Zither Sect’s disciples all looked grim.
Everywhere the Zither Sect went, they were treated as the most honored of guests. This was likely the first time in history they had been expelled by a faction. Even Li Chunyang was struggling to suppress his anger.
He cast a glance at Long Chen, seeming to realize something. Though his gaze was cold, he still offered city lord Yingxiang a slight bow before leading his people away.
Originally, Li Chunyang was supposed to expound the Dao for three days here. Now, it had ended just as it began. Everyone present was left with deep disappointment.
Just those two songs had offered insights equivalent to half a lifetime of cultivation. Who knew what heights they could’ve reached if he’d continued to expound on the Dao?
Naturally, this led to growing resentment among the crowd. Though no one dared voice their anger in front of the city lord, they were inwardly fuming—blaming Orchid Mound City for this disgrace and directing their hatred toward Long Chen.
“City Lord, what exactly…?” Long Chen asked, still unable to wrap his head around what had happened.
“The Divine Sovereign’s will manifested, and only then did I realize such an important guest had arrived,” said City Lord Yingxiang solemnly. “Don’t worry. No matter who your enemy is, the Orchid Mound line will stand as your unwavering shield.”
Long Chen’s heart shook. She clearly knew that he was a nine star heir. Was this not a direct declaration of war against Lord Brahma?
“This isn’t the right place to talk. Why don’t you come with me to the City Lord’s Manor?” she offered.
However, Long Chen shook his head. “Thank you, but I have urgent matters to attend to. I cannot stay. Please forgive me.”
The city lord was surprised but didn’t press him. After bowing slightly, she said, “Then I hope to see you again. The next time you visit Orchid Mound City, my home will be open to you.”
Long Chen offered a few more polite words before stepping into the transportation formation and vanishing.
“City lord, is Long Chen really a nine star heir? His aura doesn’t seem…” said an elder.
“His aura is different, yes. But his temperament is nearly identical,” replied another elder. “He knew we could protect him, yet still chose to leave, knowing full well the dangers outside.”
“It doesn’t matter whether he is or isn’t. Anyone who can move the will of the Divine Sovereign is someone we must protect. None of us understand the secrets of the primal chaos era. Even the Divine Sovereign left behind no records of that ancient battle. That young man is no ordinary person,” said the city lord.
“Isn’t it a bit much for us to expel the Zither Sect’s people?” whispered one elder hesitantly.
They noticed the people’s anger and resentment. The Orchid Mound City had just offended countless people.
“I didn’t expel them. The Divine Sovereign did,” City Lord Yingxiang replied. “As for the reason… I don’t know either. I merely carried out the Divine Sovereign’s will. That’s enough about this matter. Spread word—if Long Chen encounters trouble, we must help him to the best of our ability.”
…
Outside the city, Yue-er exploded in rage. “How dare they?! We must report this to the sect master! Let’s isolate Orchid Mound City from the rest of the world!”
The disciples of the Zither Sect were all fuming. They had never suffered such humiliation before.
“Liao Yuhuang, why are you silent?! This is all your fault! You were the one who brought that devil! Now we’ve lost face! Don’t you think you owe us an explanation?!” another female disciple snapped, aiming her fury at the silent Liao Yuhuang.
Liao Yuhuang bit her lip. She had never imagined things would turn out like this. She hadn’t only harmed Long Chen but also disgraced the entire Zither Sect. Tears welled up and streamed down her face.
“Aiya, you’re crying?! You feel aggrieved? Are you saying we’re being unfair? That none of this is your responsibility?!” shouted that disciple, her tone growing even sharper when she saw Liao Yuhuang crying.
“I take full responsibility for my actions,” said Liao Yuhuang coldly, wiping her tears away. “I will accept any punishment the sect master deems fit. Even if I must die, I won’t complain.”
“You…!” That disciple was enraged.
“That’s enough! Save it for the sect!” roared Li Chunyang, his face dark.
He was not in a good mood, and their bickering only vexed him even further.
The rebuke silenced everyone.
“Our personal honor means little,” he said coldly. “It’s the sect’s dignity that matters. We were sent to roam the world and spread the Zither Sect’s glory, paving the way to lead the nine heavens. Yet in our first appearance, we fumbled. Our plans have been thrown into chaos. We must return and reevaluate everything.”
With a sharp gaze, he continued, “As for Long Chen… First, he killed our disciples, and now he’s ruined our plans. Hmph. Whether he’s a nine star heir or not… I must kill him.”
A murderous aura flared in his eyes. The refined, elegant prince who had once played his zither with grace now looked like a different person entirely.
Liao Yuhuang stared in stunned silence.
Was this… really the Prince Chunyang she had idolized?
