A sudden flash of purple light flickered within the ruins of the stadium.

Moments later, a mass of vines began spreading out from the rubble.

Councilor Devitt let out a long sigh.

He absorbed the last remnants of the Ord of Chaos’s power into his own body.

Although doing so barely allowed him to regain some of his strength, it also meant he no longer had any backup plans left.

A faint but steady aura of chaotic energy now encircled his vine-constructed body, the energy continuously perceiving and probing the surroundings.

“Even though Zenobia didn’t help me… as long as she wins this fight, I’ll be safe.”

Devitt muttered to himself like a man trying to convince his own heart.

He had already accepted that his own power was nowhere near enough to defeat Luca, so all he could do was pin his hopes entirely on Zenobia.

As for whether Zenobia might kill him once the battle was over—that was something he didn’t even dare to think about.

After surveying his surroundings, Councilor Devitt decided he needed to retreat to a safer location immediately.

Once again, he managed to seize control over Donlow’s consciousness.

“You have to come with me—because I need you if I’m going to have any leverage against Luca.”

And with that, Devitt took Donlow and started moving toward a direction he believed would be safe.

But in truth, there was no place safe within the core zone of Lakeside City.

This core zone had already been transformed into a self-contained sub-world, constantly reshaped by the ever-present chaotic forces. And with Zenobia continuing to draw even more chaos energy into it, the distortion of this sub-world was only becoming increasingly extreme.

At this point, the very concept of up, down, left, or right had ceased to exist within the warped space.

The entire sub-world was descending into utter spatial disarray.

Even the layout of buildings had become bizarre beyond imagination.

As Luca and Nova fled Zenobia’s pursuit, they unexpectedly ran straight into Councilor Devitt.

Both sides were visibly shocked upon seeing each other.

Luca and Nova hadn’t expected Devitt to recover so quickly, while Devitt hadn’t imagined that Luca would actually come hunting for him.

The moment Luca laid eyes on Councilor Devitt, he launched his attack without hesitation.

Gripping Starseeker, he charged forward at incredible speed straight toward his enemy.

Meanwhile, Nova quickly rushed to Donlow’s side.

She examined Donlow carefully, scrutinizing his face.

“Do you still remember who I am? Snap out of it! We’re in a seriously dangerous situation right now!”

Nova was trying to wake Donlow through sheer urgency and presence—but that approach clearly wasn’t going to work.

She bit her lip in frustration, then finally pulled a small vial from her pocket.

“I don’t like you. But things are way too critical right now, and I absolutely refuse to let anyone drag us down. So this is the best I can do for you—I’m barely willing to spare you one of these.”

With visible reluctance, Nova took a single pill from the vial.

The pill had an unusual shape—a five-pointed star, with each point composed of irregular diamond-like segments.

It was emanating a faint but unsettling aura of chaotic energy.

Nova administered the pill to Donlow.

Almost immediately, his previously blank and numb expression contorted in agony.

The chaotic energy within the pill clashed violently with the chaotic forces already present in Donlow’s body.

Nova quickly pinned him down to keep him steady.

After more than ten seconds, the look of pain on Donlow’s face gradually began to fade.

She opened her eyes slowly, still somewhat dazed, and looked toward Nova.

“You’re conscious again, right? Good. Get ready for battle—Zenobia’s closing in fast!”

Nova spoke quickly and urgently.

Donlow still looked bewildered, but she began preparing herself at top speed without hesitation.

The next instant, both of them felt a sudden and intense surge in the surrounding chaotic energy.

Without any delay, Nova drew her custom-made handgun and began firing repeatedly in the direction where the chaos was thickest. Donlow stayed alert, eyes locked in the same direction.

Nova’s shots didn’t seem to hit anything. As the surging chaos began to recede and settle, she gradually stopped firing.

“Looks like Zenobia’s probably gone after Luca. We should be safe here—for the moment.”

Nova said this with a trace of lingering fear in her voice.

Donlow asked with concern, “Then shouldn’t we go and support Luca right away? He’s incredibly powerful, sure—but I still think we should be helping him.”

Nova definitely wanted to go help Luca as well.

Especially since they now knew they were all trapped inside a sub-world.

If they wanted to get out, they had no choice but to deal a devastating blow to Zenobia.

And the truth was—Luca was the only one capable of inflicting that kind of damage.

If Luca was defeated, then Nova and Donlow would be left with nothing but waiting for death inside this twisted sub-world.

Just as Nova was about to speak, several monsters suddenly leapt out from the darkness.

They locked onto Nova as their target.

Instinctively, Nova raised her weapon to strike back.

But before she could launch her attack, a voice echoed out from nearby—so cold and chilling it made her blood freeze in her veins.

“You might as well give up. Struggling won’t change anything. Luca’s already abandoned you. In the end, he chose to run off on his own—because to him, you’re just useless baggage.”

Zenobia slowly stepped out from the shadows.

As she spoke, her eyes swept over Nova and Donlow with unmistakable contempt.

She knew who they were—and she knew they were her enemies. But up until now, neither of them had managed to cause her any real harm.

So Zenobia decided to have a little fun with them first—play with her prey—before finally killing them.

“Luca would never abandon us! He’s not some cold, heartless monster like you!”

Before Nova could speak, Donlow had already snapped back with firm conviction.

Zenobia chuckled coldly at her words.

“Are you really sure about that?”

As she said this, a strange image appeared in the air beside her.

In the illusion, Luca could be seen running in panic, being relentlessly chased by several powerful monsters close on his heels.

“Luca’s still human. And humans are always selfish at their core. The deepest, rawest instinct is the desire to survive. When faced with a life-or-death choice… anyone would choose life.”

Zenobia’s voice dripped with a seductive, poisonous charm.

Her words carried a sinister power of persuasion, and her gaze made Donlow begin to doubt her own beliefs—wondering if maybe, just maybe, she’d misjudged everything.

“Don’t fall for it! She’s trying to manipulate us! She wants us to suffer—she feeds off it! The more pain we’re in, the more pleasure she gets!”

Nova shouted out at the top of her lungs.

At the same time, she raised her weapon and launched an attack on the surrounding monsters.

Zenobia’s expression instantly turned cold.

Her eyes narrowed, locking onto Nova.

“You talk too much.”

A powerful surge of chaotic energy materialized into a thorn-covered whip and lashed viciously toward Nova.

With the monsters coordinating their assault, the whip struck a devastating blow.

Nova was thrown back mid-combat—her custom handgun flung from her grasp, and both of her legs were shattered by the force of the blow.

Donlow had already rushed to Nova’s side by this time.

She’d let go of their previous conflict—none of that mattered now. Her mind raced as she tried to figure out how to respond to Zenobia’s next move.

But Zenobia seemed able to read Donlow’s thoughts as if they were written on her face.

She walked slowly toward Donlow and Nova, her voice icy cold as it cut through the thick, tense air.

“Stop torturing yourself. Clinging to hope in the middle of despair is nothing but agony. Let go of that hope… and you’ll finally be at peace with your fate.”

Her words were soaked in the venom of corruption and decay.

Donlow’s eyelids twitched uncontrollably.

It looked like she was beginning to waver—like Zenobia’s words were sinking in.

Yet somewhere deep in her subconscious, she still resisted.

“Luca… he… he’s not like that…”

Donlow’s voice trembled, barely audible.

“Oh really? And if that’s true, then where is he now?”

Zenobia had closed the distance and was standing right next to Donlow.

She extended her arms, as if to embrace her.

Donlow stared at her blankly.

Her guard had completely dropped—in her eyes, Zenobia now appeared to be the only person she could trust.

“Let go of that last flicker of hope… and embrace your destiny.”

Zenobia smiled gently as she spoke.

Donlow slowly began raising her own arms toward Zenobia.

It truly looked as though she was about to surrender to her fate.

But just then—a brilliant flash of white light tore across the space.

Zenobia’s outstretched hands were struck by an attack from Starseeker.

She snapped her head around in fury, glaring toward the direction the attack had come from.

Donlow, jolted by the sudden turn of events, snapped out of her daze instantly.

“Never give up hope! Even in the darkest, most hopeless moment… there’s always a sliver of light.”

Luca stood not far away, his expression resolute as steel.

The moment he finished speaking, he launched into a full assault against Zenobia—no hesitation, no fear.

Donlow moved without a second’s delay.

She carried the severely wounded Nova to a nearby, safer spot, then immediately joined the fight.

She attacked with everything she had from the very beginning.

Because guilt burned in her chest.

If Luca hadn’t arrived when he did, she might have completely fallen under Zenobia’s spell.

She should have trusted Luca completely.

It was the moment her trust in him began to waver that she found herself in such a dangerous situation.

Only by throwing herself fully into the fight could she prove to Luca that he could trust her again.

Donlow understood this perfectly—Luca would never put his faith in someone who lacked unwavering resolve.
