Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System
Chapter 655 - 655: Flame Tower OpeningAside from the Human continent, there are the Dragon, Elf, Dwarf, Beastkin, and Demons continents. The Elves used to be three kingdoms: the High Elves, the Normal Elves, and the Half Elves.
However, years ago, the Half Elves and the Normal Elves banded together and eradicated the High Elves. Of course, most of the High Elves fled to the High Worlds using Ascension platforms.
They were the royals of the Elven race, so they had the means to ascend easily despite the cost involved.
It was a great undertaking on the part of the Elves and the Half Elves. However, after the High Elves were taken care of, the alliance between the Elves and the Half Elves started to fracture. It was a sign that the Elves were now doing the same thing the High Elves did.
And since, naturally, the Elves had a stronger elven lineage than the Half-Elves, the Half-Elves succumbed and became inferior to the Elves.
The devils they went to bed with are now their demons, and for years now, they have been suppressed. Every generation, they rank last because the talents and everything else come from the Elves. Now, they are at a crossroads that can make or break them.
The Half Elves and the Elves live on the eastern side of the Black Sea. They share an undivided boundary within the Demons, just like how the Dragons and the Beastkin are, in the South, and the Dwarves in the North.
At the moment, inside a large hall, a slender Elven man with pointed ears sat on a throne, gazing at the ten figures seated to his left and right.
This is King Thalirion, the highest authority of the Half Elves, and from the look on his face, it was plain as day he wasn’t happy.
“She has gone too far this time,” King Thalirion said, hitting the arm of his throne. The ten elders inside the hall also clenched their fists.
“We used to get ten slots whenever the Flame Tower opened; that was how we managed to send five of our own to the Supreme Immortal Sect. Now she is giving us only five while her side gets twenty-five. That is just not fair.”
Lord Faelar, a tall and lean man with silver hair and sharp gray eyes, said, the pain in his eyes evident.
The Flame Tower is an artifact left behind 25,000 years ago after the Battle of Parting. It is said to contain some of the most powerful Flame Arts.
Every ten years, it opens to a select few for entry. Every Kingdom except the human continent gets thirty slots.
The Elves, who are the leaders of the Elven empire, give ten slots to the Half Elves and keep thirty for themselves. However, today, the half-Elves just received a report that they will be given only five this year.
That was a plain insult from the Elf Queen. Doing so will deprive them of the chance to send their young geniuses to the most prestigious sect in the entire world, the Supreme Immortal Sect.
They say the sect is in a pocket dimension somewhere outside of Sonox, and it is extremely wealthy. Every year, depending on the number of geniuses you have in the sect, the kingdom will receive resources from them.
The Half Elves had sent five geniuses in since the requirement was established, which is to comprehend three levels of the Flame Art they had chosen.
Those who manage to do so will have the opportunity to take the sect exams and, if passed, become disciples within the sect.
They usually get ten slots while the Elves have thirty. However, they have now reduced their slots to five.
“What should we do?” Lord Theren, a dark-haired, weathered-faced man, asked, looking at King Thalirion. They could challenge the Elves. However, they just couldn’t.
The Elf Queen, or as they call her, the Bitch Queen, is unreasonable and, as someone with a hot temper, can easily take back the five slots they gave them.
So their hands are tied.
“We have already selected ten plausible candidates this year, but as it stands, five won’t be going. We have to do something.
Getting even a chance to take the sect exams is something worth celebrating, and that can only happen if all ten geniuses we have chosen get an opportunity to enter the Flame Tower.”
Lord Theren spoke again.
The other lords in the hall nodded. “Maybe we can try buying five more from the Demons. Every demon state has fifteen slots, totaling 105 slots in all. I am sure they can consider our plight and help us.”
“They won’t. I learned this time around that more geniuses have emerged in the Demon Empire. We can’t get what we want unless we give them what they want,” Lord Vire said, shaking his head.
“Those honey bastards…” Naturally, they were talking about the Incubus. The Demon King of the Incubus state wanted to marry one of the princesses of the Half-Elf race.
Granted, the Half Elves are willing; getting five more slots would be an easy feat. However, a genius such as Princess Aeryn wouldn’t want to become a plaything for such a honey bastard.
So they wouldn’t accept their offer, which in this case means the Half Elves are left with their five slots, and there is nothing they can do to change that.
The Dragons won’t mind them, and neither would the Beastkin or the Dwarves. So they can only make do with what they have now.
All ten lords looked at King Thalirion, who seemed to have figured something out.
“It is unfortunate we only have five slots. However, while that is unfortunate, we can only make the best of the hand we were dealt, so let’s make an announcement.
Three months from today, there will be an open competition purely on flame manipulation. The top five will get a slot to enter the Flame Tower and some other rewards that will be announced on the day of the competition,” King Thalirion paused and sighed.
“This challenge includes the ten already selected.”
The elders were hesitant, but upon reflection, it was the only way for them to select the best out of the hundreds that would compete.
In a way, they’re betting everything on the best of their kin, regardless of the person’s background.
