Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System

Chapter 738 - 738: End of The Competition

None of the contestants, not even Kent, expected the last trial to be a repeat of the third trial. So this caught them off guard. However, since it was a decision made by the elders, there was no changing it, and so they had to comply.

Ember walked to the glass chamber and channeled her flame energy, wrapping it around three crystals just as she had in the third trial.

She managed to lift the crystals 4 inches off the glassy floor. However, she couldn’t move up to the 6-inch mark, which would have earned her some chance to go further than the last time.

But in the end, she made the same mistake as last time.

The 4th crystal was lifted off the glassy floor, followed by the 5th and 6th. However, it was some strain to raise the 7th and then the 8th, which in this case only lasted in the air for less than two seconds before dropping all eight.

Thankfully, she managed to earn eight counts. However, her breath turned ragged as she moved back with a smile on her face.

Physically, she was not exhausted. However, when it comes to matters of the soul, channeling too much of her soul flame essence isn’t just too dangerous but too taxing on the soul.

So it was more like soul exhaustion, one that can’t be recovered from quickly, compared to physical exhaustion. But since this was the final trial, she went all out, and it paid off.

The following number appeared, and the person walked forward. Just like Ember, he also made the same mistake, going all out from the start.

Watching this, Kent knew they hadn’t learned anything from his display. But who could blame them? They were merely fascinated by what he was able to accomplish, to the point that they failed to notice the patterns that emerged.

And so this mistake was repeated throughout the numbers that were called. Eventually, it was Norion’s turn. He was one of the five geniuses, so everyone was eagerly looking forward to his win over those who had come before him.

All four who went before him—three managed to lift eight crystals, while one only lifted seven crystals—so Norion had to do better than them.

He tried, making sure his failure didn’t stop him from lifting less than eight crystals. Thankfully, he managed to lift nine, albeit with sheer difficulty.

After him, Dorren went, and he also managed to lift nine, showing the rivalry wouldn’t let them relax when there was a slot to enter the flame tower on the line.

Madea followed and managed to lift nine crystals, even attempting the tenth, but she couldn’t. Shaking her head, she walked away, and Elia went to see if she, too, was destined to be among the top five.

In the end, she also managed to lift nine crystals. However, she wasn’t happy if one were to compare her achievement to those of Norion, Dorren, or Madea.

This meant that if Ostorious performed better than her, she would be the one to wash out, since there was no way Kent would fall behind any of them.

Kent had already lifted all ten crystals in the third trial, so she wasn’t banking on him to fail… so she could only hope Ostorious didn’t go beyond eight crystals.

Kent, of course, knew the outcome, but he just stood there as Ostorious’ turn came, and he walked to the glass chamber.

The moment Ostorious wrapped his energy around four crystals, Kent shook his head and smiled. Queen Jascia, who was paying attention to Kent, narrowed her gaze as the realization dawned on her.

“I think with him here, even if for a few days, these kids will gain more experience than they could ever dream of.” Naturally, she made up her mind to add to Kent’s punishment.

Ostorious managed to lift seven crystals, but that was when he felt the exhaustion reach deep down into his soul.

When he lifted the eighth, he couldn’t go beyond that, and knowing he had already failed, he dropped the crystals and left with a defeated smile.

The last person to walk into the chamber was Kent. This time, he planned to show everyone that in the face of great strength and control, all planning is useless.

When he reached the glass chamber, he waved his hand, and his flame surged around all ten crystals. Then, with ease, he lifted all the crystals from the glassy floor and suspended them ten inches above the ground.

“So he faked the first trial,” Princess Elowen, who had managed to recover and return inside during the third trial, asked her mother as she gazed intently at Kent.

“He didn’t fake it… He tried to show his fellow contestants something, but it seemed they failed to grasp it.” Queen Elowen, who suspected Kent had discovered something about the trial, replied, already planning to know more.

“Why don’t you ask him, Mom?” Elowen said, but her mother smiled, “You can also ask him. After all, you will be walking hand in hand with him soon.”

Princess Elowen looked at her mother for a few seconds before the words she had forgotten came to mind: “Shameless.”

Her mother just smiled before turning to Kent, who was walking off the stage.

“Kent Madson, I saw how you completed the third trial just a couple of minutes ago, and I would say it is completely different from how the fourth trial was completed. Care to shed some light on that?”

Kent smiled, already expecting this when he felt the queen’s gaze on him. He expected her to ask such a question, so he prepared a good yet short answer.

“The reason my third trial was different from the fourth was that I tried to show my fellow contestants how to lift all the crystals easily.

It turns out that the moment the crystals are six inches off the ground, their weight returns to normal, meaning the rune around the crystals is ineffective when the crystals are that high.

This also means instead of spending ten times the effort and energy to hold the crystals in the air, you only need one-tenth of the effort.

In other words, holding the crystals six inches off the ground would save you more energy to lift the remaining crystals.”

Every last contestant who participated in the third and fourth trials held their jaw, staring at Kent as he walked back to his spot with a smile on his face.
