Chapter 801: The Duel

The moment the Pill Emperor asked for the start of the duel, everyone quieted down and began paying attention to what was about to happen.

Of course, Kent kept sensing many gazes directed at him from all directions.

Even Suoh couldn’t take his eyes off him.

He was too shocked to know what to say. One of the many things he wanted to achieve was to view the Grand Pill Tablet, which was said to hold many secrets about alchemy.

He had been doing all he could to get access to view it for just an hour, but Kent, someone who hadn’t even scratched the surface of pill making, had just gained access to view it.

To him, that was just unbelievable. He couldn’t wrap his mind around it.

He was neither angry nor jealous. He was merely blown away by the unbelievable thing that had just happened before his eyes.

It would spread to thousands of worlds, and everyone would know Kent’s name. Even his images would be shared if people managed to record him.

‘I must become his friend at all costs.’

Kent, on the other hand, was paying close attention to the two Pill Kings. It took them just two minutes to figure out the rest of the ingredients, down to the last one.

The only thing left now was to make the pill, and that is where mastery over the flames and better pill-refining techniques come in.

Pill King Han Lu started with the minor ingredients, while Pill King Yota began with the major ingredients.

‘I guess they all have their styles. But I would have gone with Pill King Yota. The moment all major ingredients are extracted, the minor ones will be a minor struggle. But I guess whatever works for them.’

Kent was paying close attention to the process, making sure he captured every last detail. Just like that, an hour passed, but the progress on both fronts was too slow.

Pill King Han Lu had managed to extract the essence of ten minor ingredients, while Pill King Yota had only managed to extract the essence of three major ingredients.

This shows that while they can easily extract essence from Tier 9 ingredients in their sleep, now, due to the requirements they must meet, they are ensuring every last essence is extracted to perfection.

They were ultimately required to come out with a Tier 12 pill using Tier 9 ingredients, so they needed all the medicinal essence from each herb in abundance.

If they were to make a mistake and lack even one herb, especially a major one, their process would have to be stopped, for they wouldn’t be able to achieve their goals.

So they were going at it slowly, and within three hours, the progress became clear. Just when Pill King Han Lu extracted the 13th minor ingredient, Pill King Yota had also completed the 6th major herb.

Then the positions switched.

Now, Pill King Yota was extracting essence from minor herbs while Pill King Han Lu started on the major ones.

‘This is a race against time and perfection. Just a minor slip-up and everything will be ruined,’ Kent said inwardly, wishing he had a Pill Eye to see inside the cauldrons of the two Pill Kings.

That would have worked like magic. He would have managed to connect every hand movement and temperature control to the changes in the behavior of the ingredients in the cauldron.

Even so, he was learning a great deal from the simple hand movements.

Five hours into the process, Kent saw a miscalculation in Pill King Yota’s movement, and the next second, he lost one minor ingredient.

However, instead of panicking, he remained calm and went ahead to extract the next ingredient.

Situations like this, when one is racing against both time and perfection, panicking over a failure to handle an extraction, could cause an alchemist to suffer a great defeat due to their emotions.

After six hours, they were each nearing completion of the extraction.

‘Technique-wise, I believe the one Pill King Han Lu is using is superior to Pill King Yota’s. However, the only reason Pill King Yota could keep up was because his flame control is much more impressive.

I would love to watch him extract more ingredients if I ever get the chance.”

Kent was so focused on the process that he didn’t even realize he was being watched.

If he weren’t paying so much attention to the two Pill Kings, he would have noticed the gaze coming from a room somewhere in the Pagoda.

Inside a certain room on the seventh floor, a lady dressed in green was seated in an elegant green chair. Around her, the air was nourishing, almost like the plants in the forest grew from her. With green hair, green eyes, and even green lips, her beauty was undeniable.

And judging by her Peak Spirit Lord aura, it wasn’t hard to know she was no weakling. She was one of the most dangerous women on Planet Pyris.

They called her the Pill Monarch Nefeli—one of the top elders of the Pyris Pill Alliance. She is part of the top rank of the Grand Pill Pagoda.

On her chest was a Platinum Pill Badge showing she was at the peak of the Pill Monarch stage and would soon become a Pill Sovereign if she managed to pass the qualification trial that Pill Legends would witness.

Under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t have wasted her time watching a bunch of Pill Kings compete in a duel. However, she happened to have some free time on her hands.

But who would have told her she would be witnessing one of the most shocking events in her alchemy career?

A Pill Grandmaster, knowing the recipe for a Soul Mending Pill, one of the rarest soul pills in existence. That is just too much for someone at Kent’s level.

She had to reach the Pill Emperor stage before learning the recipe for the soul mending pill, yet a mere Pill Grandmaster was able to do so, and even mentioned the major ingredients.

That shocked her.

However, the reason she was paying attention wasn’t because of Kent’s shocking feat. His focus was on how Kent was meticulously watching the Pill Kings and pointing out their mistakes, one by one.

She noticed Kent caught some mistakes made by the Pill Kings.

That was something many wouldn’t notice, but since she was a Pill Monarch, she was able to spot those mistakes. Whenever she did, she noticed Kent’s subtle movements, which told her that the Pill Grandmaster sitting among the crowd was no simple person.

“Just how profound is his understanding of alchemy to be able to point out mistakes Pill Kings are making?” she muttered, not taking her eyes off him.

It reached a point where she subtly used her energy to probe for answers, but whenever she tried, it was like Kent was a void encompassing nothing that could be examined.

“Interesting. Kent, I will remember this name,” she said before turning her gaze away from him. A few seconds later, Kent turned his gaze and stared in the direction of the room she was in. However, he saw nothing…
