It was a very dark night with not even the moon shining in the sky. The dark clouds rumbled from time to time, and the streaks of white light from the lightning were the only moments of brightness for anyone within the carriage.

Not that anyone would look at them, as they were all sleeping.

Ning felt the bobbing of the carriage that he was used to after the past 3 days of travel. It had been constant with very few stops, that too only to eat or take a break.

Every other moment was constant movement.

Thanks to the nearly 8000 undead they had managed to gather, each one of which was very strong, they had decided to ditch the horses and simply have the undead carry them around.

Those undead were fast, took in commands very well, and most importantly of all, they didn’t need rest. So even at night while everyone slept in their carriages, the undead that carried those carriages continued traveling without stopping.

As such, in just 3 days of travel, they had crossed such a large distance that it would’ve easily taken them 5 weeks had they used the horses.

As they got closer to their destination, Ning felt the intensity of the situation get to him. Things were serious after all.

He didn’t know what the criteria for passing this experiment he had accepted were, but whatever the case, he wanted to pass it no matter what.

And for that, he needed to pass the greatest hurdle until now, the quest that would give him the most amount of points.

The quest to make Shara into an Empress.

Ning looked at his status page and the over 200 points he had. After months of gathering points, he had a lot to spare, and there were new things in the shop for him to spend it on.

It was quite the conundrum. Every time he had enough points to buy something good, something else showed up in the shop, making him want that instead. Then if he waited for a day longer, something else would show up.

Now, months later, he had nearly 220 points and a variety of things to buy. Powerful things.

Ning had decided to gather even more and see what powerful thing he could buy for himself. However, the situation had changed. No longer were they still months away from reaching the Republic. They were on the way to Largan’s Pass, where the war was strong, so it was time for him to at least be ready to buy things.

Ning immediately got rid of the idea of buying anything temporary or any that would only help a single person. If it was not useful to war or help Shara get on the throne, he didn’t want it.

Those items could wait for afterward.

The most significant thing he could buy with his 220 Points that could help them the most in the current battle was a bracelet that allowed the user to summon one of 12 different elemental beasts, all of which had their own uses.

At 180 points, the beasts summoned from the bracelet were very strong, and more importantly they couldn’t die. They could be destroyed, but that would just mean they couldn’t be used for a week or two before they were able to be used again.

After reading up on the descriptions of the bracelet for a long time, Ning decided it was the right thing to buy.

The bracelet appeared before him in a flash of light, landing directly on his left arm. No one else in the carriage noticed the light as they were already asleep at this point.

Ning waited for a lightning flash in the sky before looking at the bracelet he wore. It was a thick strapped leader bracelet with golden edges and a dark crystal at the center that swirled with multiple colors.

The Summoner’s Bracelet —as it was called in the shop— felt firm in Ning’s hand, and he was certain it wouldn’t get stolen that easily.

There were a few rules to the bracelet he needed to keep in mind before using the beasts.

First, he could only use one beast at a time.

Second, if he wanted to change the beasts, he either had to have the first beast out for an entire day, or wait 10 minutes. He could not switch them out one after another.

Third, the beasts could not differentiate between friends and foes, so the user had to be careful about what sort of commands they gave to them.

Ning thought for a while and decided on which beast he wanted to summon first.

The crystal suddenly lit up, swirling with a silhouette in it now, that of a mole.

Just to be safe, Ning jumped out of the carriage and landed on the shoulders of one of the undead who carried the carriages with large logs tied to the bottom.

“Come out!”

The mole flew out of the crystal in Ning’s wrist and landed on his shoulder. He could hear its tiny whiskers scratch the side of his neck as it moved around.

Ning took the mole and placed it before him. The lightning crackled in the sky, revealing a brown-furred mole that almost seemed translucent as if light could pass through the creature.

The mole was called a Mountain Mole and was a beast that could control the elements of Earth. It had full control over ground and rock, and could even create mountains out of molehills.

Ning thought of how he could test out of the mole and came up with an idea.

“The path before the undead is ragged and uneven. Go make it flat for them to walk in. Remove all rocks and obstacles for them.”

The mole jumped from Ning’s hands and dove into the ground, disappearing.

Ning could feel that it was doing as he had asked, but couldn’t see it from where it was. After waiting for just a minute or two though, he could feel the ruggedness of the run turn uniform very quickly.

That meant the mole had done its job.
