Chapter 742: Chapter 679 Heaven Gate
The Court of the Witch King, Tower No. 1 of the Golden Rock.
After Ivan moved his residence to the interior of the Peak of Truth, he used this Golden Rock Tower as a place for office and leisure, where many associated with him stayed year-round.
“Good day, True Witch Throne.”
“Good day, True Witch Throne.”
Since Ivan became the True Witch Throne, regardless of his own thoughts, it seemed to outsiders and even close ones that his aura became more imposing with each passing day. Fewer and fewer people could remain at ease, laugh, or get angry in his presence.
On the ninth floor of the tower, a ‘Star Realm Gate’ that surpasses the Star Realm stands prominently in the center, guarded by two Arcane Wizards in front of the portal.
Upon his arrival, both hurried to pay their respects.
“Ska, Candi, are you both comfortable staying here?” Ivan asked as he approached.
“Very comfortable, it’s very quiet here, and we only need to watch this ‘Heaven Gate’ every day, taking turns on duty. There’s nothing more relaxed than this,” Ska replied truthfully.
He was an old sorcerer, with hair and beard all white.
“Uh-huh, if we feel interested, we can learn the process of how you deepen the Heaven Gate. How could we not get used to it?” Candi nodded in agreement, her gaze falling around her with delight.
All around stood various Star Realm Gates, each more complex than the last. In comparison, one could clearly see the traces of research.
These were actually experimental products left behind by Ivan’s deepening of the ‘Star Realm Gate,’ which through continuous improvement resulted in the ‘Heaven Gate’ in the center of the tower floor.
The Heaven Gate, as the name suggests, is a portal linking multiple skies and constructing a network.
Ivan had, more than once, handed the ‘Nether Soul Seed’ to Locke, allowing Locke to scatter the Nether Soul Seeds across various planes during his official duties.
In this regard, Locke had been carrying out the task methodically.
Having done so much, it was inevitable to leave traces, and in the Moon Stream Plane, Tosh and others were not unjustly blaming Locke; they just lacked solid evidence.
With so many Nether Soul Seeds dispersed, over time, seeds began to sprout and bear fruit, adding new members to the Black Star Legion.
Ivan had anticipated this kind of situation early on. Due to the long distances, it was impossible for him to inspect plane after plane. For convenient communication, he based his research on the Star Realm Gate to develop the Heaven Gate.
Using the Heaven Gate, he connected numerous members of the Black Star Legion, especially these new members.
“As long as you’re comfortable. Have there been any new discoveries lately?”
“Yes, a little girl named ‘Tami’ contacted us. According to her description, when we compared it to the plane directory you left, we found she was in a small plane—the Spring Wave Plane. According to the rules you set, we taught her the corresponding Breathing Method and Meditation Method, along with matching spells and secret techniques.”
“In your judgment, is this Tami really a little girl?”
“Probably not, but no matter what, as long as she has accepted the power seeds you scattered, she eventually won’t escape from the palm of our Black Star Legion, right?”
“Well said, our Black Star Legion never forces anyone.”
“You’re right.”
Unlike the precedence set in the Elf Plane’s Song Praise Plane, the current Nether Soul Seeds were not used to evolve totem-like creatures, as that would be too conspicuous and require careful nurturing, a painstaking effort.
The Nether Soul Seeds of recent years have been cast over a wide net, mainly serving as tokens. Those who covet power willingly take the bait and proactively make contact.
In fact, both Ska and Candi are members of the Black Star Legion, too.
Along with them, there were three such Arcane Wizards, all unable to ascend to Level 5 Ancient King due to various reasons. Joining the Black Star Legion allows them to receive the Legion’s benefits, representing a new hope for advancement.
Speaking of which, Candy Lillik was an acquaintance of Ivan.
Originally followed the Ice Queen and later defended the Vermilion Bird Valley with him. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned, and after explaining the pros and cons, Candy did not hesitate to join the Black Star Legion.
The remaining Arcane Wizard is Devon Tyron, known as the ‘Water Lizard Lord,’ who had other duties and was dispatched elsewhere.
“I, as a sorcerer, will have a chat with her.”
“I hope she won’t disappoint you.”
Ivan approached the Heaven Gate; it quickly activated, dazzling with divine light. Shortly, the shimmering portal clearly revealed a silhouette in the center.
He glanced, injecting a smidge of power with a thread of soul thought alongside.
“Who is it? Tami greets the Divine Master.”
“No need for excessive courtesy.”
The portal, like a void mirror, revealed the image of a little girl. She appeared to be a novice Sea Race girl. Noticing the anomaly, she seemed a bit panicked but quickly calmed down.
With Ivan speaking, the image in the mirror underwent a dramatic change.
This was not a little girl at all but a sea serpent being over three meters tall, with a snake tail and eight arms, its skin a darkish hue, likely in an exquisite undersea palace.
“As expected, your actions are extraordinary,” Candi softly praised upon seeing this.
“Indeed, such tricks surely can’t deceive a sorcerer like me,” Ivan responded without humility.
At this moment, his attention was divided, part of his consciousness already arriving at the Spring Wave Plane, an innumerable distance away, through the Heaven Gate.
Being the source of the Black Star Legion, as long as he wishes and conditions are suitable, he can project his consciousness onto any member.
Of course, new members tend to be rebellious. Ivan assumes they don’t understand the benefits of the Black Star Legion, usually overlooking any offenses.
Any rebellion is simply subdued.
This time was no different. When the Level 3 Tami turned hostile, he suppressed her with a flick of his hand, which made her calm down.
“I ask you, is there anything free in this world? Let alone a spell to cultivate to a lord.”
“Yes, the heritage left by predecessors.”
“On top of it, I left a guide; you should have understood before activating the power seed that nothing is that easy to obtain.”
“Tami is ashamed. Henceforth, willing to heed the Divine Venerable’s commands, serving at the Divine Venerable’s side.”
With his power being inferior, this Divine Venerable was still willing to listen to reason, which Tami found not too bad. Clenching his teeth, he bowed before the Divine Venerable.
Actually, not everyone can activate the Nether Soul Seed; Ivan has set hidden thresholds, and those who can activate it are mostly individuals with outstanding talent. After all, the Black Star Legion doesn’t accept just anyone.
“The youth can be taught.”
“Tami is not a child.”
Tami’s attitude changed quickly; upon hearing this, she immediately displayed a captivating demeanor, her eyes brimming with allure.
Her face was indeed rather striking; unfortunately, due to either her lineage or other reasons, her body was exceedingly robust, making her appear quite uncoordinated.
Ivan had seen all kinds of women; her seductive gaze was doomed to be wasted.
“Put away your ugly demeanor; don’t forget, you’re still the mother of 41 children.” Quickly, Ivan became speechless, exposing another of her identities.
“Divine Venerable, how did you know?” Tami was startled: “Sorry, I was just curious.”
“Through ways you cannot comprehend.” Ivan did not elaborate.
He naturally used soul-based powers, and at this moment, he was still within Tami’s consciousness space, searching for some important memories with soul fluctuations and dissipating powers couldn’t be simpler.
He could use more forceful means to read Tami’s lifetime memories in detail but had no need to do so.
“The Divine Venerable is indeed formidable.”
Tami recovered from her fright, then returned to her coquettish ways, gazing at him seductively.
This left Ivan speechless once more.
Soon, he understood what it was about; here in the Spring Wave Plane, fertility represented a type of capability and charm, and Tami was evidently among the best.
Furthermore, the Sea Race were oviparous; their modes of reproduction and various concepts were entirely different from humans.
In the following period, Ivan stayed within the Spring Wave Plane by borrowing Tami’s body. Through deep understanding, he gradually understood what kind of plane this was.
The Spring Wave Plane was actually an ocean-dominant plane, with little land, and at certain ages, the sea water would engulf all land.
Such a plane naturally contained abundant Water-type energy particles.
In addition, the water also encompassed a peculiar vitality power, making the ocean creatures more prone to reproduction and propagation, which is why the plane was named ‘Spring Wave.’
Excessive reproductive capability would lead to an overpopulation of beings; for the sake of survival space, slaughter often occurred on this ocean.
Tami’s true identity was the City Lord of a sea area. Even though she held a high position, her survival pressure was still great, having more than a hundred daughters, most of whom perished in slaughters.
“Divine Venerable, are you leaving already? Tami still wishes to serve you further.”
Within less than a month, Tami was already convinced by Ivan’s ‘all-powerful’ nature. Both she and the city greatly benefited, making her extremely reluctant.
“Seeing that you are quite insightful, I officially accept you into the Black Star Legion.”
“Huh? I was formerly—-”
“You were previously an external member, enjoying only minimal benefits from the legion.”
Before leaving, Ivan used his methods to formally bring Tami into the Black Star Legion; the reason for this ultimately was his interest in the Spring Wave Plane rather than Tami herself.
Ignoring Tami’s pleas to stay, this part of his consciousness returned to Danaila.
At the Peak of Truth, in the Witch King’s court, on the topmost level of the first Golden Rock Tower, Ivan stood before the Heaven Gate for a month as Candi and Ska guarded by his side for a month.
“Aren’t your identities those of Divine Envoys? If you’re interested in exploring the Spring Wave Plane, you can communicate with Tami yourself.”
Looking at the two who expressed envy, Ivan indifferently stated that they appeared as Divine Envoys before new members.
“We wouldn’t dare disrupt your arrangement.” Ska said.
“Consciousness can’t project over, separated by a barrier, lacking immersive sensation, may as well not communicate. If only there was a cross-dimensional teleportation array.” Candi mumbled.
“You still want to attack their plane? Be careful not to return here carelessly.” Ivan laughed.
“True Sorcerer Lord, have you already developed cross-dimensional teleportation?” Candi sharply sensed something and couldn’t help asking.
“You will know in due time.”
Ivan did not answer directly, yet the two were confident of the matter.
Actually, their guess wasn’t wrong; the cross-dimensional teleportation array had preliminarily been created, thanks to his mastery over space-type rule power.
Unlike ordinary teleportation arrays, achieving cross-dimensional teleportation is exceptionally complex, requiring active cooperation in another plane and pre-setup of teleportation platforms.
Due to the effects of distance, plane size, and plane characteristics, interference is substantial, and there are various dangers.
Take the Black Star Legion, for example; he estimated that if for large-scale cross-dimensional teleportation, interference or unforeseen changes could result in over half losses during transportation.
“I’m leaving to wander around; you two can go back.”
Through the Heaven Gate, Ivan once again projected a portion of power and consciousness, borrowing another Black Star member’s body to explore another plane.
Iron Ember Plane, a name blending iron and fire, truly a medium-sized plane.
This was a unique plane; during his first descent, he was somewhat surprised to find the Iron Ember Plane was a technological development plane.
Later, he found out the technology here was based on derivatives of two materials, namely ‘Iron Ember’ and ‘Melon Oil.’
The former is a special iron ore; the latter is an oil-producing plant; their combination created an unusually developed state of artifact refining and mechanical grandeur within the plane, merging with the cultivation path into a single system.
He had a strong desire to explore this.
Actually, not only the Iron Ember Plane; through the Nether Soul Seed and Heaven Gate, Ivan, even if he stays indoors, can easily explore many planes, gaining diverse knowledge.
In unnoticed corners, a web of heavens is slowly unfurling.
