Splitting the Heavens

Chapter 1460: Destiny Pirates

“Boss, why do we have to travel along the perimeter of the void outside the chaotic streams? Our journey will take much longer, and it’s not like there are no dangers outside the chaotic streams…” A figure that was clad in unkempt robes, with strange pieces of cloth streaming down all the sides of his robes giving him a strange vibe, asked. His eyes were shining and there was a crafty smile on his face as he raised a teacup to ask.

Their chief, who was a little fat and had a resting bitch face, grabbed the teacup and took a sip before chuckling. The originally solemn expression disappeared, leaving behind a strange smile.

“Call me the manager, not the boss!” The leader tossed the teacup to the side after drinking its contents and snapped at the others, “How many times have we said this?! We’re a proper merchant fleet now! We are legitimate businessmen who roam the Chaotic Sea of Stars and the various worlds. They usually call their bosses ‘managers’!”

After he spoke, he still seemed a little angry as he kicked at the person beside him and continued to scold, “How many times have I said this?! Damn it! You little brats just can’t remember!”

He moved so suddenly that it was slightly uncharacteristic of his fat figure, but it didn’t matter. His subordinate, who had a bowed figure, also moved very nimbly. He dodged the kick and the other teacup he grabbed didn’t spill in the slightest. He continued to ramble off, “Right, right, Boss, it’s my fault! I mean, Manager, I know my mistakes!”

With a strange smile, the chief stared at the bowed figure and continued to ask, “Did the others get you over to ask about something?”

A light flashed in the subordinate’s eyes and he maintained the smile on his face. “I… I was just curious. According to your original cautious way of doing things… Why did we choose such a risky route?”

The chief wanted to kick him again, but this time, he had already moved far away. Before he could be pleased with himself for dodging, a strong blow landed on his butt. A mighty Martial Dipper Realm expert from the Destiny Pirates… Or Destiny Merchant Group as they liked to call themselves, fell on his face. He was the second in command, but that didn’t stop him from eating shit on the deck of the Star Ship.

Finally rolling to the side, the second in command glared at the figures at the side with a threatening gaze. Everyone who was sniggering quickly forced themselves to stop, pretending they didn’t see anything that happened.

Seeing as they knew how to act, the second in command tumbled over and turned to the chief to ask, “Come on… Chief, don’t you know that we’re pretty dumb? Can’t you explain it a little…?”

After he spoke, he raised the teacup that miraculously still had not spilled.

The chief snorted coldly in response, “In that case, This granddaddy here… I mean, this manager here, will teach all of you something!”

He paused suddenly and turned to see everyone staring at him intently before nodding with satisfaction, “I trust all of you heard the news about the Essence Xing World…”

The second in command reacted quickly, “Bos… Manager, do you mean the internal strife within the Essence Xing World? It’s said that many people died. Even the 3 great dynasties suffered great damage…”

Pressing his lips together, the chief grumbled, “I guess that’s all people like you guys can find out…”

“Of course! That’s why you’re the manager and we’re your subordinates! You definitely have some insider news… Manager, please drink some more tea and widen our horizons. In the future, our Destiny Pirates… I mean, Destiny Merchant Group, should not disgrace ourselves when passing through the Chaotic Sea of Stars, right?”

The chief nodded happily and finally started to explain, “Actually, what you guys heard is the most superficial of information. You didn’t learn of what truly happened because of your lack of cultivation level…”

The second in command quickly continued to kiss ass. “Manager, you’re the only True Immortal of our merchant group. You’re our strongest expert and you have an amazing reputation in the Chaotic Sea of Stars! Of course you know what happened…”

Raising his hand slightly in an attempt to show his humility by stopping the obvious bootlicking, he wanted to continue but stopped himself. He showed a look that he was thoroughly enjoying himself but he forced a smile. “All of you should continue working on your cultivation. In the future, it’s not like you don’t have a chance to advance. When that happens, you will gain the qualification to know about matters like this too.”

Everyone quickly agreed with him and a wave of cheer filled the Star Ship.

After some time, he continued, “There were a lot of deaths in the Essence Xing World because of their internal conflict, but the Essence Xing World still had Martial Emptiness Realm Sages. How would they dare to cause trouble so easily? Do you guys know why they had the guts to do so?” ṞåΝo͍BĚꞨ

Everyone shook their heads in unison.

In a mysterious tone, the chief continued, “That’s because 1 of the 3 Sages of the Essence Xing World passed!”

Gasps were heard all around.

Even in the Chaotic Sea of Stars, Sages were beings that only existed in the legends. Their exploits would be heard for hundreds of years and it held a far reaching impact. To hear that existences at that level could also die shocked them all.

The second in command quickly continued, “Since there are more Sages in the Essence Xing World, does that mean that their subordinates wanted to swallow the inheritance of the Sage who died?”

The chief nodded slightly in praise. “Even though the situation is a lot more complicated than you said, you’re pretty much right. Hmm, it’s no wonder you’re my right-hand man.”

“Anyway, it’s not just the Essence Xing World that experienced internal turmoil. A Sage from another Heavenly Field went over to fish for benefits in the trouble. From reliable sources, many Sages fought in the chaotic streams outside the Essence Xing World. The Dao Field of the fallen Sage suffered great damage and even their World Origin Source was greatly affected. Now, they haven’t even found the person who stole world origin while the chaos in their world was happening, but it’s said that at least 8 continents in their world showed signs of shrinking by more than a third…” The chief continued, “According to what I heard, 27 True Immortals died, and among them were 5 high-level True Immortals. There were even more casualties of weaker experts and at least 10 Holy Land-level factions were wiped from existence…”

The second in command revealed a face full of shock and mumbled, “The losses they suffered would be equivalent to 3 massive Star Pirate groups in the Chaotic Sea of Stars being wiped out! Even if their foundations were strong, they should have suffered a massive setback, right? Not to mention a Sage had also fallen…”

The second in command seemed to have realized something as he was speaking. He started bubbling with excitement, “I understand now! The reason you chose to skirt around the chaotic streams is because you wish to find a suitable time to do what we used to do to the Essence Xing World, right?”

He was waiting to be praised by the chief, but all he received was a slap to the face. “Do what we used to do? Fuck you! Is that all you can think of? Don’t you know where that is? I just fucking told you that a Sage died and 27 True Immortals fell. They have 2 other Sages and 3 Dao Fields! There are more than 10 Elysiums there… Do you think we can antagonize such a force?!”

The chief didn’t hold back when slapping him and everyone quickly shrunk their necks and pretended to not have seen anything.

With a look of confusion, the second in command only thought about what happened after his head stopped ringing. With an innocent look on his face, he mumbled, “What are we going to do then?”

“Hehe…” The chief sniggered softly to himself and revealed a sinister smile on his face. “The Essence Xing World has their own Heavenly Field and there are merchant groups entering and exiting all the time. Because of the chaos, many of those merchant groups didn’t have time to leave and the battle of the Sages in the chaotic streams caused massive fluctuations such that fleets couldn't travel through them easily.”

“After everything calmed down, those fleets started to leave but ran into a lot of trouble in the chaotic streams. A lot of them suffered huge losses. Of course we can’t sit by and watch without doing anything. We have to help them to the best of our abilities and let them join our Destiny Merchant Group if possible!” The chief roared with laughter.

The second in command nodded in agreement. “Manager, you really thought of everything. However, if there are lone Star Ships we should definitely head over and help those desperate souls out…”

“Since many factions were destroyed, there would be many people fleeing with their inheritances. With how kind-hearted we are, we can’t watch as they wander around the sea of stars without any protection and lose their inheritance. We should be their final beacon of hope. If they join us, we will also be able to grow stronger!” The chief grinned happily.

After he spoke, he noticed that everyone was staring at him with their jaws agape and he quickly coughed once.

The second in command snapped awake, but he seemed to have noticed something in the distance and he quickly gestured in the direction. “Boss, I mean, Manager, look! Did that Star Ship just emerge from the chaotic streams?!”

“Huh?” The chief stared in shock at the lone Star Ship flying slowly through the void after emerging from the chaotic streams.

Even though he was curious why he didn’t detect the presence of the Star Ship, he quickly extended his divine soul over. When he discovered there was only the aura of a single True Immortal on board, he immediately relaxed.

“Alright, little ones, the deal is right before our eyes! Pass down my order, take this small Star Ship down for this granddadd… For your great manager! After we’re done, talk to our fellow friend on board about the terms of joining our Destiny Merchant Group!” The chief roared.

As soon as he spoke, he directed the one-and-only large-scale Star Ship they were controlling towards the lone Star Ship. Several smaller Star Ships of his Destiny Merchant Group also went over to surround the lone entity as they deployed a simple battle formation.

He didn’t forget to remind them as they were making their way over, “Do not destroy the small ship! I want it!”

Their chief was clearly someone who knew his stuff. He could tell that the small ship that could traverse the chaotic streams was definitely a priceless treasure!
