Chapter 3575: A Gift

Chapter 3575: A Gift

The Origin Progenitor looked over at Lu Yin. "Did you know that Yong Heng would intervene?"

Lu Yin shook his head. "I wasn’t sure, but if he hadn’t, my only choice would have been to fight with karma and do my best. Against the High Seraph, we might not be able to win, but we also can’t afford to lose."

The Origin Progenitor sighed. "Given enough time, there would be no question that you would eventually be able to defeat the High Seraph on your own. Unfortunately, you were born too late."

Lu Yin stared off into the distance. "For the first time, I hope that Yong Heng doesn’t die."

The Origin Progenitor showed a bitter smile. "I feel the same way. He’s like a hidden arrow, constantly aiming at the High Seraph’s heart."

It was clear that True God was not the High Seraph’s opponent at this time. After all, he had only recently been reborn with the use of a spirit seed. However, once True God fully recovered his strength, the changes brought about by using the spirit seed mirebound artifact would place his strength beyond the understanding of those from the Tianyuan Megaverse.

While neither man wanted to admit it, both Lu Yin and the Origin Progenitor knew that Yong Heng had surpassed both of them.

Yong Heng was the only being who belonged to both the Tianyuan Megaverse and the Spirit Nidus.

The recitation of the Everstone Discourse soon ended, and the sacrifice of the three Dukkhans allowed Wilderness God to successfully become an Ortuser.

Wilderness God was one of the Three Realms and Six Daos. He had been able to enter the Origin realm during the ancient Heavens Sect era, but after his body was split apart, he had entered a deep slumber. Countless years had passed before he was revived. Still, after receiving the insights of the three Dukkhans, it was not difficult for the astral beast to enter the Origin realm.

Sovereign Dou Sheng also went into seclusion. He had not instantly become an Ortuser, but it was not too late for him. When he emerged from seclusion, he would likely experience a breakthrough.

This meant that there were currently several Ortusers aboard Boundless.

Aside from people like the High Seraph and a few other top experts, Ortusers could be considered to stand at the peak of the three megaverses.

The difference between Ortusers and Dukkhans was mostly in their mindset. Some who entered Dukkha could even be weakened by the process.

This meant that, as long as one entered the Origin realm, at which point they could not be touched by the laws of the universe, they were qualified to challenge the peak of the megaverse.

This was especially true of the people of the Tianyuan Megaverse, who had not reached their power with a standardized cultivation system. While it was more difficult for them to become Ortusers, there was no doubt that they were more powerful than their peers.

The Origin Progenitor also returned to seclusion, as did Lu Yin.

While they called it seclusion, the reality was that both men were recuperating.

Boundless remained sealed off, and Old Yu never visited. It was as though the confrontation during the last bit of the Everstone Discourse had never occurred.

However, the impact on the thirty-six domains was immense, though its full effects would only become apparent many years later.

...

In the Wisdom Domain, Old Yu’s expression turned grim after he learned that Boundless was still sealed off.

They had failed to force enlightenment upon the people aboard that battleship. Ultimately, Seraph Lu still represented the Tianyuan Megaverse. Despite being the disciple of the invincible being, he did not support the Spirit Nidus.

That would have been fine, but expectedly, the Tianyuan Megaverse had proved that they were actually able to stand against the High Seraph.

Old Yu was well aware of just how powerful the High Seraph was. If not for that, how could the Wisdom Domain be so wary of the man, given that the domain’s foundation and history far surpassed that of the High Seraph? Even when he had pushed Bao Qi to become one of the Seven Seraphs, no one had stepped forward to object. The High Seraph’s strength made him invincible, and no one could oppose him.

Old Yu had long since believed that even the united strength of the Seven Seraphs would not be enough to challenge the High Seraph.

While Boundless had always acted with overwhelming confidence, Old Yu had never believed their confidence to be real or warranted. The passive understanding that was in place was supposed to be nothing more than a facade. Even if Seraph Lu was able to overwhelm the entire Spirit Nidus, as long as the High Seraph existed, all others would always be crushed by him.

The most recent battle had not only showed Old Yu the strength hidden on Boundless, but he had also witnessed their unwavering determination, even in the face of death.

Lu Yin’s eyes had revealed another side of himself to Old Yu.

Would it be good or bad to cooperate with such a person?

If Old Yu could see Lu Yin’s determination, then so too could the High Seraph. And yet, the man still refused to act against Lu Yin. It seemed irrefutable that the young man was the invincible being’s disciple.

The High Seraph and Seraph Lu don’t matter. The one who truly makes the decisions will always be the invincible being. Old Yu stood on a barren land, lost in his thoughts.

...

Three years soon passed. Lu Yin's injuries had long since healed, especially since they had not been that severe to begin with.

The Origin Progenitor also had not suffered many injuries. Over the course of the three years, he had been studying the Nine Heavens Transformation.

When Lu Yin emerged from seclusion, the Origin Progenitor approached him. "It’s nearly done."

Lu Yin's eyes lit up. "Good! Let’s get ready to give the High Seraph a surprise."

The High Seraph’s Nine Heavens Transformation allowed him to grow stronger with each step. Such a battle technique was highly desirable to everyone, and mastering it would allow one’s strength to rise significantly.

At this same time, a vast battleship was on its way back to the Spirit Nidus. On its deck, Jiu Xian was holding a gourd of wine. She appeared to be intoxicated, her eyes vacant.

They were less than three years away from the Spirit Nidus, and the Day of Offering was just around the corner. She was about to return home.

Emperor Wu approached the woman, though he stared ahead.

"What? Are you in a hurry?" Jiu Xian teased.

Emperor Wu just stared ahead. There was something hidden in his eyes.

Jiu Xian sipped her wine. "If you can see something extraordinary on this Day of Offering, will you challenge the High Seraph?"

Emperor Wu’s eyes flickered, and he finally looked over at Jiu Xian. "Do you think that I can challenge him?"

Jiu Xian sneered. "Isn’t that exactly what you’ve always wanted? Whether or not you can challenge him, how am I supposed to know? I don’t even have a clear sense of the High Seraph’s strength."

Emperor Wu looked away again. "I am not clear either."

"So, are you going to capitalize on your ability to take a beating?" Jiu Xian asked with a laugh.

However, Emperor Wu remained serious. "As long as he can’t kill me, there will always be a chance to counterattack."

Jiu Xian admired such resolution. "Impressive. The reasoning of a musclehead really does defy common sense. I guess that only that guy, Emperor Slayer, can hope to understand you. That’s probably also why he doesn’t follow the same path as you and instead focuses on being able to escape, hahaha!"

Emperor Wu frowned. Whenever he thought of Emperor Slayer, his mood instantly soured.

It was not only because the beast was Emperor Wu’s enemy, but also because Emperor Slayer had tainted the reputation of the beast-form Spirit Rebirths.

Those who underwent a beast-form Spirit Rebirth had always been known for their courage and combat power. In contrast, Emperor Slayer had focused on his ability to escape. If victory proved impossible, he would just run, as no one could catch him. He had cultivated the Near and Far Sequence Technique, which Emperor Wu considered to be a humiliation for any beast-form Spirit Rebirths to pursue. It was his sequence technique that caused Emperor Wu to despise Emperor Slayer.

If Emperor Wu ever got the chance, he would absolutely kill that guy. He was a complete disgrace.

"Is that a battleship on its way to the Consciousness Megaverse?" Jiu Xian asked as she peered ahead. There was a massive battleship coming towards them, and they would soon pass by each other.

Emperor Wu also stared at the approaching battleship. "They shouldn’t be heading towards the Consciousness Megaverse. They’re probably headed for Beacon City. Anyone trying to reach the Consciousness Megaverse right now would be courting death."

Jiu Xian thought for a moment, but then she agreed.

All of the Spirit Nidus’s most powerful experts had pulled out of the Consciousness Megaverse, but there were still experts like the Thirteen Luminaries there. At this moment, the people of the Spirit Nidus had no one strong enough to protect them from the top powerhouses of the Consciousness Megaverse.

The two battleships brushed past each other.

Emperor Wu calmly stared at the passing vessel, and then he spotted a familiar face smiling at him. That smirk was so familiar and so repulsive. Who is that? He was stunned by the answer.

Jiu Xian was surprised. "Emperor Slayer?"

Emperor Wu stared in a daze as the other battleship sped past.

On the passing battleship, Emperor Slayer grinned at the two Seraphs and even waved at Emperor Wu. "Hurry up and return home! I’ve left a gift for you!"

In the blink of an eye, the battleship sped by and disappeared. Without such speed, it would have taken ten years to cover so much distance.

Emperor Wu had not had enough time to do anything at all, despite quickly realizing the situation. He wished that he had attacked and destroyed Emperor Slayer’s battleship.

Why had Emperor Slayer left the Spirit Nidus? What was he planning?

Jiu Xian was similarly confused. "Why would he leave the Spirit Nidus at a time like this?"

Emperor Wu was still stunned. What did Emperor Slayer just say?

"What did he just say?"

Jiu Xian thought for a moment. "Something about a gift?"

Emperor Wu’s eyes narrowed and blazed with bloodlust as he looked past the battleship’s stern. Why did that bastard leave the Spirit Nidus? A gift? That doesn’t sound good. Just what has happened in the Spirit Nidus?

Jiu Xian happily commented, "He left you a gift? How interesting. What could it be? I’m guessing that it’s nothing simple. Do you think that he ran off because of the gift that he left for you? He’s probably terrified that you’ll hunt him down and kill him as soon as you return."

The comment caused Emperor Wu’s heart to sink even further. If Jiu Xian was correct, then Emperor Slayer must have done something terrible.

Emperor Wu’s mood was completely ruined, and he returned to his cabin within the ship with a grim expression.

As for Jiu Xian, she was cackling.

...

Two more years passed. One day, Sovereign Dou Sheng broke through to the Origin realm, which caused all aboard Boundless to celebrate.

As an Ortuser, Sovereign Dou Sheng grew even more domineering and arrogant, and his golden light shone brighter than ever.

Lu Yin stood at the bow of the battleship, smiling as he watched the celebration. If Boundless were to return home at this moment, he wondered how great of a shock they would cause.

Unfortunately, returning home was still a distant dream.

"What are you thinking about?" Mu Zhu approached with a smile.

"Returning home."

Mu Zhu’s smile shrank. "Since you’re here now, don’t think much about such things."

Lu Yin looked over at Mu Zhu. "Senior Sister, do you miss your home?"

Mu Zhu and their master, Mister Mu, were both from another megaverse, but they had lost their home. For them, home was an unknown megaverse to Lu Yin.

Mu Zhu sighed. "Yes, everyone should miss their home.

"Some say that cultivators who can sever the seven emotions and six desires will have no weaknesses, and so many cultivators will cut off all ties with the mundane world, but that’s often because they have no choice. After one session of secluded training, they might emerge to find that all of their loved ones are already gone.

"However, it’s only by searching deep within that you can be certain. How can anyone have no emotions or attachments?"

Lu Yin nodded. "True, there will always be something."

After a moment of silence, Mu Zhu patted Lu Yin’s shoulder. "Junior Brother, you will have the chance to return home, so don’t worry. Your senior sister believes in you."

Lu Yin was curious about something. "Senior Sister, why haven’t you broken through?"

Mu Zhu was no younger than the Three Realms and Six Daos. She had once even helped Mister Mu save the Origin Progenitor, and yet she still showed no sign of any breakthrough.

Mu Zhu sighed. "I can’t break through in either the Tianyuan Megaverse or the Spirit Nidus. I can only have a breakthrough in my own megaverse."

"Why is that?" Lu Yin asked, puzzled.

Mu Zhu replied, "I don’t know myself. I’ve just gotten used to it over the years."

"Is Master’s strength still declining?" Lu Yin asked another question.

Mu Zhu nodded. "Yes, it’s been dropping rather severely. He might never be able to fully recover."

"What was Master’s strength at his peak?"

This was a question he had also posed to Mister Mu and the Origin Progenitor before, but they had never given him any real answer.

Mister Mu’s strength had to have been extraordinary, as he was still terrifyingly powerful. He had managed to use his Origin Tracer to dam the River of Aeons and anchor the Mirari Realm. Even at the present moment, that was far beyond Lu Yin’s capabilities, and even the Origin Progenitor’s. Only Mister Mu could have done such a thing.

Mu Zhu thought for a moment. "I don’t know just how strong he was either, but I’m sure that he was stronger than all of you."

"About comparable to the High Seraph?"

Mu Zhu shook her head. "I’ve never fought the High Seraph, and I can’t really judge things at that level."

Lu Yin thought for a moment, but then he had to agree.

"By the way," Mu Zhu shot a friendly smile at Lu Yin. "Master gave that one Immortal a permanent wound, and it wasn’t even because of the karma chain."

Lu Yin was stunned. "The Immortal from your megaverse?"

Mu Zhu nodded. "That’s right. That Immortal wanted to keep us there, but Master forcefully took me and escaped. He even landed a heavy blow on them before leaving."

With that, the woman simply left.
