Chapter 3606: Passing By

Chapter 3606: Passing By

Lu Yin stepped off of Boundless and moved towards the universe that was not connected to any of the thirty-six domains. It took some time, but he eventually arrived at a planet where all of the inhabitants had cultivated with spirit seeds. This was the border of the known portion of the Spirit Nidus, and it had not given rise to any remarkable experts.

The planet was also hiding someone from a parallel universe.

Such people were the only way to reach the unconnected parallel universes, which was similar to how people in the Tianyuan Megaverse accessed the various parallel universes.

A parallel universe native could always find their home universe.

No conscient would ever willingly enter the Spirit Nidus, and the person hiding on the planet that Lu Yin had reached did not even know that they had been taken to the planet by conscients. Everything had been done secretly, and they had taken meticulous care to ensure that that remained true. The only thing that no one could have anticipated was Lu Yin’s unique ability to Possess other lifeforms.

Lu Yin easily found the person, and in a moment, he had already reached the parallel universe with them.

This was not the parallel universe ruled by the conscient that Lu Yin had Possessed, but rather another one. If Lu Yin could find one of the universes, he could find them all. While he did not yet know how to access the two parallel universes that the two Luminaries were hiding in, with time, he would be able to Possess and eventually locate them. However, it was not yet time to meet them.

It did not take long for all the conscients hidden in the parallel universe to vanish. All that remained behind were ravaged lands and a shattered universe.

Lu Yin returned to Boundless. He had succeeded in devouring a considerable amount of consciousness, and while the quality could not compare to what he had first devoured from the Consciousness Domain, the quantity was far greater. In an instant, his consciousness that formed his Nine Heavens had greatly expanded. If he could devour all of the hidden conscients, his Nine Heavens would grow several times larger.

This was also only considering the conscients hidden in the Spirit Nidus. If Lu Yin traveled to the Consciousness Megaverse, he was convinced that his consciousness would undergo a total transformation.

He felt that it was possible that his consciousness would be the first of his abilities to reach the level where he could directly challenge the High Seraph.

After replenishing his consciousness, Lu Yin looked up and then continued rolling his die.

Once, twice, three times, four times. He rested for ten days and then continued. After another ten days, he repeated the process yet again. Lu Yin had gone through this process countless times. Ever since he had learned that the die’s six abilities were from the Seven Heroes, he had felt a sense of warmth every time he rolled it. It was as if they were still watching over him.

Six pips: Possession. Lu Yin's eyes lit up as he found himself in the dark space. He wasted no time, and his consciousness shot forward as he started searching.

At the same time, in the Primal Beastland, the land that had been shattered by the recent battle had been put back together, though the scars still remained. This was by Emperor Wu’s order; the Primal Beastland would only be fully restored after he defeated Boundless at the source of the Fu River. If Emperor Wu lost, the humiliation that the Primal Beastland had suffered would be left for their future generations to bear. This would continue until a beast-form Spirit Rebirth who was capable of crushing Boundless arose and cleansed the Primal Beastland’s disgrace.

There was a green lake, which had formed from Man Kui’s blood. It served as an eternal warning that caused fear to spread across Primal Beastland, as everyone was constantly reminded of Emperor Wu’s overwhelming power.

Yi Die and Jiu Weihu were standing beside the lake. Their wisest decision had been to simply do nothing. The truth was that they had both been nearly taken in by Old Salamander’s scheme.

“The battle in two months... do you think that Emperor Wu can win?” Yi Die asked.

Jiu Weihu’s voice betrayed her frazzled state of mind. “I can’t make any judgments.”

Yi Die stared at the lake in a daze. Ortusers were supposed to be strong enough to stand at the peak of the Spirit Nidus. After all, how many could enter Dukkha? Despite their strength, they were constantly dealing with either other Ortusers or Dukkhans. Even if their megaverse only had a handful of Dukkhans, it still felt as if they only ever ran into such powerhouses.

This was the nature of their level.

They did not bother to look at those weaker than them, much like how many of the beast-form Spirit Rebirths looked at the Grand Mountain Lords from afar.

In the same manner, they looked up at those at the Seven Seraphs’ level.

They could not comprehend Emperor Wu’s power, nor that of Seraph Lu. In fact, even Old Salamander surpassed the two’s understanding.

“I hope that Emperor Wu wins, as if he loses, us beast-form Spirit Rebirths will be completely overshadowed by the human-form Spirit Rebirths. While the people from the Tianyuan Megaverse are not really human-form Spirit Rebirths, they are still completely different from us,” Jiu Weihu said.

Yi Die was about to reply, but then he suddenly turned to look in a different direction.

Jiu Weihu turned to face the same direction, her face growing pale.

At that instant, they had both felt overwhelmed and utterly suppressed. The sensation was abrupt, yet not unfamiliar. It was the same kind of pressure that they felt when facing an unbeatable powerhouse. They had experienced this sensation many times throughout their lives, but they rarely ever felt it after becoming Ortusers. Not even Dukkhans were able to evoke this feeling in them.

Despite that, they both felt the same sensation at this precise moment. It was such an unbearable pressure that they nearly felt suffocated. It had come from Emperor Wu’s direction.

Far away, Emperor Wu slowly opened his eyes, excitement flickering in their depths. He suppressed his violent urges and bloodthirst, but he could not erase the surging desire for battle that welled up within him. “I’ve finally completed it. Two months. In just two months, not only will I crush Boundless, I will also...”

He looked out in the direction of the Ascendant Hall. “Challenge him!”

...

The orbs of light were strikingly visible in the dark space, but due to its sheer vastness, regardless of how bright a light might be, it was still necessary to get close to notice it.

Lu Yin spotted an orb of light, but only one. Still, it was absolutely brilliant, and it was much brighter than the orb that had belonged to the conscient that Lu Yin had been the ruler of a parallel universe. That conscient had had Stellar-realm consciousness. Could Lu Yin have found a conscient with Celestial-realm consciousness?

He felt a bit puzzled. If this creature had Celestial-realm consciousness, why was there only one of them? They should be either hiding in a parallel universe or staying among the conscients that the thirty-six domains had hidden away. Regardless of which was true, there should be multiple spheres of light nearby.

Despite his doubts, Lu Yin shot forward and merged with the light.

The next instant, he saw a familiar face. It was so familiar to him that he almost reached out and grabbed it. He was looking at Yi Shang.

Lu Yin had never expected the former Seraph to be the first thing he saw upon Possessing a conscient.

The memories started to flood in, and Lu Yin quickly understood the situation. So, that’s how it is.

The conscient had surrendered to Yi Shang and been branded. After that, it had always stayed within the Yi family. When Yi Shang had fled to avoid Lu Yin, he had not returned to his family, nor had he hid within the Daquan Domain’s Chamber of Commerce. However, before leaving, he had collected this conscient so that he could use it to run errands.

From what Lu Yin was seeing, it appeared that Yi Shang had no intention of making an appearance anytime soon.

Yi Shang was simply unlucky. If he had not insisted on traveling with the conscient, Lu Yin would have never found the man. As Lu Yin looked around, he quickly realized where he was, and he was quite surprised by the location.

He ended the Possession without ever even moving.

Yong Heng had previously discovered that Lu Yin was capable of Possessing others due to his mirebound artifact, which suggested that Yi Shang could likely notice the same thing. After all, Yi Shang was also a powerful Dukkhan, and Lu Yin needed to be extra cautious around such experts.

After returning to his own body, Lu Yin again left Boundless. Although he said that he was in seclusion, he had already left the battleship multiple times.

Qian was one of the mad dogs who had once competed against Bao Qi for the position of Seraph. After being defeated, everyone had assumed that Qian had died. However, he had merely gone into hiding, and he had been training in seclusion while waiting for another opportunity to seize the title of Seraph.

Unfortunately, the Phantom Reach had found him, and they had led Lu Yin to Qian’s location, which had resulted in Qian being crushed and imprisoned in his Champions' Stage Purgatory.

At present, Yi Shang was hiding in the exact same place that Qin had once hidden himself.

No one would ever expect him to hide in such a place.

After Lu Yin had fought against Qian and captured him, no one had returned to his old hiding place. After all, it had only been a perfectly ordinary location, and Lu Yin was even less likely to return there.

Yi Shang had neither fled far away nor stayed close to home, and yet he had perfectly utilized the principle of hiding in plain sight.

His spirit cloudstone vibrated, and Yi Shang answered the call.

"Is he still in seclusion?"

"Yes. It appears that Seraph Lu is feeling pressured by Emperor Wu. If not, he wouldn’t have gone into seclusion."

Yi Shang replied, "That’s to be expected. Emperor Wu’s strength is without equal, especially his defense. He is truly unmatched. During their skirmish in the Primal Beastland, Seraph Lu Seraph must have noticed it, and he isn’t confident in being able to break through Emperor Wu’s defenses."

"President, Seraph Lu has too many powers and abilities. Should we warn Emperor Wu?"

Yi Shang replied, "It’s not our place to do that. There are plenty of others who will warn him. You just need to focus on protecting the Chamber of Commerce."

"Understood."

Yi Shang put away his spirit cloudstone. Seclusion, huh? It’s good that he’s feeling pressured by Emperor Wu. It’s not his strength that’s the problem—what’s really terrifying is not being able to see a person’s limits. Emperor Wu should be able to put up a real fight.

Turning his head, Yi Shang saw a giant beast crouching down. It was his surrendered conscient, which had the fixed form of a beast.

Yi Shang had painstakingly captured this conscient while in the Consciousness Megaverse. He had personally branded the creature and then spent years taming it. Even so, he still did not fully trust it.

The more that a person fought against conscients, the better they understood those lifeforms. They would never truly submit to anyone. The only way to control a conscient was to make them believe that their master fully controlled their life and death. There was nothing more or less to it.

The reason why Yi Shang had brought the conscient into hiding with him was because he had nearly died during the battle at the megaverse’s boundary. If he had actually died at that time, no one in the Yi family would have been capable of restraining the conscient.

Yi Shang had never forgotten just how many conscients had escaped over the years.

The conscients that had attacked the Heavencraft Domain might very well be one that had escaped in the past.

People might be prone to forgetting, but Yi Shang had lived for a very long time.

"Come here," Yi Shang ordered.

The conscient, in its appearance as a giant beast, stood up and slowly moved closer to Yi Shang, keeping its head bowed in a subdued manner.

"Is it impossible to achieve Celestial-realm consciousness outside of the Consciousness Megaverse?" Yi Shang asked.

The beast nodded. It was capable of speaking, but Yi Shang forbade it from doing so. The conscient could only express itself through movement. This was one of Yi Shang’s methods of taming the creature.

"If someone's consciousness suddenly surges with strength, what reason could there be? For this question, you may speak," Yi Shang continued.

The beast looked confused. "A surge of strength? What kind of surge?"

Yi Shang’s eyes flashed. "Rising from the Celestial realm to the Universe realm in an instant."

"Impossible," the beast instantly denied the possibility of such a thing ever occuring. "Cultivating consciousness is not easy. Even in the Consciousness Megaverse, such an explosive increase of strength is unheard of. Unless..."

"Unless what?" Yi Shang pressed. This question had just suddenly come to his mind.

Right when the conscient was about to reply, the beast’s pupils shrank sharply as it looked past Yi Shang.

The man spun around, and his own eyes narrowed in shock. "Lu Yin?"

Lu Yin was staring at Yi Shang. "It was rather difficult to find you, President Yi Shang."

Yi Shang’s expression fell. How had he been found? He had told no one of his whereabouts. The Phantom Reach? No, that’s impossible. Even they can’t track me.

"I wonder, what business do you have with me, Seraph Lu?" Yi Shang forced a smile as he spoke.

Lu Yin observed the man. "I wasn’t looking for you. I actually came here for something else and just happened to see you. I’m actually quite curious. Why is the president of the Chamber of Commerce here instead of in the Daquan Domain?"

As Lu Yin spoke, he glanced around. "If I remember correctly, this is where Qian spent his seclusion. Were you possibly close to Qian and had come here to reminisce about an old friend?"

Yi Shang’s mind started racing. Is Lu Yin being honest? Is he really just here by coincidence? If so, what is he here for?

Right! Qian is still Lu Yin’s captive! Could he be here for something to do with Qian?
