Chapter 3628: The Value
No one dared to provoke Heavenspire precisely because it belonged to the High Seraph.
Of course, Heavenspire had never been too ostentatious within the Spirit Nidus either. Its status was unique, and it had always remained distant and aloof.
Lu Yin needed to visit Heavenspire, both to obtain a better understanding of the Lesser Spirit Megaverse and also to get closer to Wu Wei.
Unfortunately, outsiders were not permitted to enter Heavenspire. That was the most important rule they had, in addition to not allowing any members of Heavenspire to marry an outsider.
Countless years had passed, and yet no one had ever entered Heavenspire. The fact that it was impossible to enter had thus become common knowledge throughout the Spirit Nidus.
“Wait here,” Lu Yin said before leaving.
A complicated expression stayed on Zhou Qian’s face. What would ultimately become of the Ark Domain? He had no idea.
When he had confessed everything to Lu Yin, Zhou Qian had done so out of pure desperation. He had been too naive earlier, believing that they could convince Boundless to help the Ark Domain drive Heavenspire out before waiting for Boundless to be attacked and destroyed, all while continuing to report to the Ascendant Hall.
If only things could be so simple.
Only after boarding Boundless and facing Lu Yin directly was it possible to understand the indescribable aura on the battleship.
It was easy to speak about Boundless being besieged and destroyed, but the truth was that it wasn’t something that should even be considered.
As he peered into the depths of Boundless, Zhou Qian felt as though he was staring into an abyss.
Elsewhere, Lu Yin approached Ru Mu.
At the moment, she was watching with interest as a blanket in front of her squirm. She had been observing the person within the blanket for quite some time. In fact, she had done so ever since she had first seen him aboard Boundless, as Ru Mu found his antics quite entertaining.
Jiang Qi had no idea how to react. “Um... Could you please not stand so close?”
“Why not? You’re being so cold to me,” Ru Mu teased with a playful smile.
Jiang Qi’s tone remained dry, though his hesitation and helplessness could also be heard. “I... don’t smell very good.”
“I don’t mind. Can you come out? It’s so boring to stay hiding under a blanket.”
Jiang Qi nervously answered, “No, I can’t. I’m afraid of the sunlight.”
“Do you have something to hide?”
“That’s not what I meant.”
Jiang Qi stayed under his blanket, stealing glances at Ru Mu. The girl was so beautiful, to the point where she practically glowed. In comparison, Jiang Qi felt completely unkempt and unfit even to approach such a person.
Lu Yin was standing a short distance away, his hands clasped behind his back as he watched the two people.
Jiang Qi, who perpetually hid under his blanket, was actually able to somewhat resist karma, which made him an incredible mystery to Lu Yin.
However, when he was pulled out from his blanket, there was absolutely nothing odd about the young man. Aside from being dirty, even the blanket was completely unremarkable.
Afraid of the light? Does he suffer from some sort of psychological issue? What else could it be?
“Ru Mu.”
Ru Mu turned. As soon as she saw Lu Yin, she happily shouted, “You’re back, Boss!”
From under his blanket, Jiang Qi called out in a respectful tone, “Gr- greetings, Seraph Lu.”
Lu Yin just gave a slight nod to Jiang Qi. “Go do whatever you want.”
Still wrapped up beneath his blanket, Jiang Qi wriggled away.
Ru Mu happily bounced over to Lu Yin, flashing him a sweet smile. “Boss, he’s so interesting! Can we pull him out of that blanket?”
Jiang Qi overheard the question, and his wriggling quickened. He was desperate to take a bath and tidy his hair.
Lu Yin looked at Ru Mu. “Everyone lives their lives in their own way. Don’t bother people.”
Ru Mu wilted. “Alright.”
Lu Yin observed the woman. “You’re completely different from how you were when we first met. Are you even the same person?”
Ru Mu smiled. "Boss, which version do you prefer?"
Lu Yin studied Ru Mu. Her bearing had the quiet elegance of someone who had stepped out of a painting, the kind of person who should have been calm and composed. Yet at this moment, she was the opposite. She was spirited, with a hint of charm and a lively gleam in her eyes.
If not for seeing her for himself, Lu Yin would believe that Ru Mu’s personality belonged to a completely different person.
Could she be like Yan’er and have a split personality?
"Why do you remain by my side?" Lu Yin asked in an indifferent tone.
Ru Mu’s expression grew serious, and she answered respectfully, "To monitor you on behalf of Heavenspire."
Lu Yin stared at her. "...And?"
"That is all."
Lu Yin frowned. "That’s not what you told me in the Wisdom Domain."
As Ru Mu looked at Lu Yin, her smile took on a slightly bitter cast, losing its former sweetness. "Back then, I could have taken you to Heavenspire. I no longer can."
"Why not?"
"You’re too powerful, Boss. Heavenspire won’t be able to handle you."
"Aren’t you afraid that I’ll kill you?"
"I can’t do anything about that. It would simply be my fate. Who told you to be so powerful? Not even Heavenspire expected this," Ru Mu said with a shrug.
Lu Yin suddenly reached out and grabbed ahold of Ru Mu’s neck, lifting her into the air.
She did not try to resist or fight back. Resistance was meaningless against Lu Yin.
"Are you really Ru Mu?"
"I am."
"Ru Guo’s daughter?"
"I am."
"Then why does Old Yu trust you?"
Ru Mu could no longer answer, as her face was turning red due to suffocation.
Lu Yin let go, dropping Ru Mu to the ground. She coughed violently and needed a long time to recover.
"I... Our Ru family serves as the Wisdom Domain’s spies within Heavenspire," Ru Mu said with a sigh.
Lu Yin was caught off guard by this answer. "The Ru family is the Wisdom Domain’s spy? But weren’t you supposed to be working for the High Seraph?"
Ru Mu rubbed her neck. A clear handprint could be seen on her otherwise unblemished skin. She slightly opened her clothes, completely unbothered by the fact that Lu Yin was in front of her as she exposed a bit of pale skin.
"I don’t know why, as the High Seraph never explained things, and the Wisdom Domain has never bothered to clarify the matter either. It’s as if both sides have silently agreed that Heavenspire has to allow the Wisdom Domain’s spies in. The High Seraph has never done anything against our Ru family because of our position."
Lu Yin’s eyes flickered. So that’s why the High Seraph hasn’t been able to reset the Lesser Spirit Megaverse.
The force behind the Wisdom Domain was preventing the High Seraph from proceeding.
Had the Ru family been sent to Heavenspire because the Lesser Spirit Megaverse had already been known about? No, that might not be the case. There might have merely been a desire to monitor all of the High Seraph’s activities.
For the Ru family to be openly employed as spies, this had to be the work of the Lesser Sancte that supported the Wisdom Domain.
Even the High Seraph was powerless against such an individual.
"You once said that you could take me to Heavenspire. If I had agreed back then, would I have made it in?"
"Yes."
Lu Yin chuckled. "So, when you made that offer, your Ru family was confident that they could overpower me."
Ru Mu stayed silent.
In the past, Lu Yin had been seen in a completely different light. Previously, he had been someone with the strength of one of the Seven Seraphs. At best, he was considered to possibly possess the same level of strength as Emperor Wu before he cultivated the Nine Heavens Transformation. However, at present, Lu Yin stood on the same level as the High Seraph himself.
No one could predict what would happen if such a person was taken to Heavenspire.
This was not only something that the Ru family was concerned about, but also the High Seraph.
The High Seraph had not expected Lu Yin to experience such a drastic transformation in strength due to his visit to the Spirit Nidus. If Lu Yin had possessed this level of strength back when the High Seraph had invaded the Tianyuan Megaverse, would the High Seraph have been able to slaughter the people of the Heavens Sect so brazenly?
Lu Yin could understand the Ru family's apprehension.
Ru Mu was also trapped aboard Boundless, completely unable to escape. If that were possible, she would have fled long ago.
"Your father is ruthless. He does not care about whether you live or die at all," Lu Yin remarked.
Ru Mu smiled. "I am still of value to you, Boss. You won’t kill me, will you?"
"Not necessarily," Lu Yin replied in a careless tone.
Ru Mu sighed and shrugged. "If you intend to kill me, I'll simply betray Heavenspire and take you there on my own."
Lu Yin arched a brow. "You’re suddenly willing to take me there?"
Ru Mu nodded, her sweet smile instantly returning to her face. "Heavenspire explicitly forbade me from taking you there, but if I'm going to die anyway, why should I obey them? Boss, if I take you, will you let me join Boundless?"
A smile spread across Lu Yin's lips. "Do you know that I'm not killing you not because of how useful you are to me or because you can take me to Heavenspire?"
"Then why?" Ru Mu asked, confused.
Lu Yin studied the woman’s eyes, trying to find something.
It was the same inexplicable premonition that prevented him from killing Ru Mu. Had she been sent by the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, ordered to stay by his side? If that was the case, then what was the connection between Heavenspire and the Nine Odysseys Megaverse? Could Ru Mu have simply been chosen by the Nine Odysseys Megaverse? Or perhaps the entire Ru family?
The Ru family was connected to the Wisdom Domain. Could Ru Mu’s presence here have something to do with the Lesser Sancte behind the Wisdom Domain?
Despite how readily Ru Mu claimed she would betray Heavenspire, extracting any real information from her would be extremely difficult. She might not even know much information.
Compared to Ru Mu, Jiu Xian was far more likely to possess certain knowledge.
Lu Yin had grown increasingly interested in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s Lesser Sancti. They were all peak Dukkhan powerhouses who were equal to the High Seraph. If Lu Yin managed to take one of them down, could he take their place?
The Nine Odysseys Megaverse was essentially controlling the Spirit Nidus. If Lu Yin could become one of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s Lesser Sancti, would he be able to eliminate the Tianyuan Megaverse’s crisis?
Lu Yin fell deep into thought. The more he learned about the different megaverses, the more insignificant his own strength seemed. Ultimately, it was still the Immortals who decided the fate of the megaverses.
He hoped to one day resolve his megaverse’s crisis, help Mister Mu return to his homeland, and help the Lost Clan reclaim their megaverse... There was so much that Lu Yin wanted to accomplish.
Ru Mu silently stood by his side, staring at Lu Yin, who seemed to have fallen into a trance.
A long time later, Lu Yin raised a hand. He stared at his fingertips as spirals of karma twined between them. Casually, he flicked them at Ru Mu.
Ru Mu was unable to perceive the spirals of karma, let alone avoid them.
As the spirals of karma shot into her, Lu Yin saw Karmic Lines appear and start colliding. He caught glimpses of Ru Mu’s past, even some private memories.
Ru Mu blinked, but she did not move. She stood where she was without even reacting.
As the spirals of karma dissipated, Lu Yin calmly said, "Ru Can is someone you know, isn’t he?"
Ru Mu nodded. "My father adopted him. He’s much older than me and is responsible for handling the Ru family’s external affairs."
"Contact Ru Can. Tell him to restore the Ark Domain back to normal."
"The Ark Domain?" Ru Mu grew curious. "Boss, are you helping the Ark Domain?"
Lu Yin replied, "If you want to stay alive, then do as I say. At least show your value."
"Understood. Don't worry, Boss, he won’t dare to refuse me."
"One more thing," Lu Yin continued, his eyes gaining additional depth. "How many battleships in the Spirit Nidus are capable of traveling between megaverses?"
Ru Mu thought for a moment. "Six."
Only six? Lu Yin had expected there to be far more.
It was no wonder why the vanguard had only taken one battleship to invade the Tianyuan Megaverse.
“Most of the battleships built by the Ark Domain can only fly within our megaverse or shuttle between parallel universes,” Ru Mu explained. “Some can handle a springboard jump, but only a limited number of times. Just one round trip, and they’re done. There are plenty of ships like that, but they can’t truly travel between megaverses. Only six are durable enough to withstand the power of springboards and remain usable over time.”
Lu Yin stared at the woman for a moment. “Recall all of the battleships to the Ark Domain. Say that they require maintenance.”
“Maintenance?” Ru Mu was taken aback.
Lu Yin glanced at his cosmic ring. In it, he had about 500 timed microarrays. He wanted to take advantage of the Ru family’s apparent control of the Ark Domain to install those microarrays on the Spirit Nidus’s battleships. If they were never used, it would not matter, but if the time ever came...
