Chapter 3630: Mind-Spirit Link

Chapter 3630: Mind-Spirit Link

From Wu Wei’s memories, Lu Yin knew that he was witnessing the power that had once silenced the Consciousness Megaverse. This was the ability that had slaughtered two of the Thirteen Luminaries. The High Seraph’s Transcended Sequence was one of his most terrifying abilities.

That power had finally been directed at Boundless.

Fortunately, they were not completely unable to fight back. Together, Lu Yin and the Origin Progenitor were able to shatter the Everlasting Will.

According to Wu Wei’s memories, Everlasting Will had never been broken by anyone in the Consciousness Megaverse.

As the universe returned to normal, Chu Yi, Wilderness God, and the others all hurried over, only to see Ru Mu lying on the ground.

“Master, what happened?” Chu Yi asked.

Lu Tianyi focused solely on Lu Yin. “Little Seven?”

Lu Yin waved them off with a hand. “The High Seraph was just probing us. It was nothing.”

He then walked over to Ru Mu. There was something decidedly odd about the woman. There was no way she was actually Ru Mu. A mere Spirit Warrior like Ru Mu could never ignore the High Seraph’s pressure, and on top of that, why would the High Seraph personally target someone like Ru Mu?

If they had failed to sever the black tornado, Ru Mu would have been taken away.

The High Seraph had first attempted to take the woman away, and only when he failed had he targeted her with the stream of black light. This not only demonstrated how important Ru Mu was to the High Seraph, but also how wary the High Seraph was of Boundless. The man had prepared two attacks.

Who else in the entire Spirit Nidus could warrant the High Seraph preparing a backup plan to hold in reserve?

Ru Mu was not dead, though she might as well be. She had been effectively reduced to a living corpse. It was impossible for her to regain consciousness.

She had been preparing to take Lu Yin to Heavenspire.

Is that why?

The Origin Progenitor spoke up. “The High Seraph has cultivated his sequence particles to perfection. That attack just now was only a test. If we had failed to overcome his power, we would prove that we pose no threat to him.”

Lu Yin looked up, his expression heavy. “What we just faced was the High Seraph’s Transcended Sequence. It’s essentially the same as a sequence base.”

“Why does he want to capture this girl?” the Origin Progenitor asked in confusion.

The others all looked down at Ru Mu, who was still lying on the ground. They were all equally puzzled. If the High Seraph had simply wanted to test Boundless’s strength, why attack someone who was not even a part of Boundless?

Lu Yin was certain that the High Seraph had targeted Ru Mu specifically.

The woman was hiding an enormous secret.

“She was preparing to take me to Heavenspire.”

Everyone exchanged glances. Heavenspire was the High Seraph’s land, and it was forbidden to all outsiders. No one was allowed to enter that place, and Heavenspire did not even permit its people to marry outsiders. It was no wonder why the High Seraph had acted with such desperation.

“How did the High Seraph know she was going to take you to Heavenspire? Is he able to monitor Boundless?” Ce Wangtian asked in astonishment.

Yuan Qi shook his head. “While the High Seraph might be able to observe the entire Spirit Nidus, he cannot monitor Boundless. There has to be another reason for this attack. It might even have just been a coincidence.”

“I don’t believe in coincidences,” Luo Shan said.

Astral Anura hesitated. “Maybe... maybe we shouldn’t go to Heavenspire after all.”

Lu Yin stared off into space. “The more eager they are to stop me, the more I want to go.”

Astral Anura was speechless. That personality of yours... is completely infuriating!

Lu Yin pulled out a spirit cloudstone and contacted the Ark Domain. He wanted to pass a message along to Ru Can so that the man could take Ru Mu away.

More importantly, Lu Yin wanted to establish contact directly with the Ru family.

...

In the Ascendant Hall’s Apex Palace, the High Seraph had kept his eyes closed for several days before finally opening them.

“He’s becoming harder and harder to control. He’s progressing much too quickly. When he first arrived here, it would have been impossible for him to deal with that strike.

“I must wait. I have to keep waiting, but I refuse to believe that it won’t come. That position is definitely mine.

“Lan.”

“My lord.” Lan arrived and bowed respectfully.

The High Seraph looked at the woman. “What’s happening in the Ark Domain?”

Lan replied, “According to the report they submitted, both Boundless and Heavenspire are competing for control of the domain. The outcome remains unknown, but the Ark Domain has resumed working on its battleships.

“The only thing strange is that they have announced a recall of all universe-class battleships, stating that they need to return for upgrades and maintenance. That has never happened before.”

“They’re recalling all of the universe-class battleships?”

“Yes.”

“Allow it. As soon as the upgrades are complete, we will launch the attack on the Consciousness Megaverse. This time, we will destroy that megaverse for good,” the High Seraph stated in a low voice.

Lan responded excitedly, “Understood, my lord.”

...

The Ascendant Hall released orders for everyone to cooperate with the Ark Domain’s request to upgrade the battleships. As soon as the upgrades were completed, they would all leave for the Consciousness Megaverse.

The Spirit Nidus was stirred up, and countless people were thrilled by this announcement. At last, they had been given a definite date. This expedition to the Consciousness Megaverse would surely result in all of the conscients being annihilated. When this expedition left, it would not easily return. They intended to remain in the Consciousness Megaverse until it was reset. All who participated expected to step into a higher realm.

The Ark Domain refused all other orders and began exclusively servicing the recalled universe-class battleships. Thanks to the Day of Offering, all six of the vessels were present in the megaverse with none missing.

The six colossal battleships were spread across the Ark Domain, each a colossal giant.

Meanwhile, the Ascendant Hall started the process of drafting members for the expedition to the Consciousness Megaverse. The selection criteria was far more lenient than before, primarily due to the fact that all six battleships were being sent. There were far more open slots than usual.

Before long, another order was issued: Boundless would serve as the seventh universe-class battleship, and they would also join the expedition to the Consciousness Megaverse.

This news caused countless eyes to once again focus on Boundless.

As expected, the High Seraph would not allow the Tianyuan cultivators to act recklessly. Even if he had accepted Boundless’s presence, they still had to contribute to the Spirit Nidus.

This expedition to the Consciousness Megaverse was when Boundless would make its contribution.

Of course, many cultivators were disgruntled; they felt as if this order was no different from delivering the opportunity of the megaverse’s reset to Boundless on a silver platter.

On the ship, Lu Yin received the order, but he could not decide whether to feel pleased or concerned.

He knew that two of the Consciousness Megaverse’s Thirteen Luminaries were hiding in the Spirit Nidus’s parallel universes, waiting for the megaverse’s powerhouses to leave so they could strike from the rear. If Boundless also left, they would be able to conveniently avoid that attack to the rear.

However, Lu Yin was also fully aware that the Willbound Expanse was a trap that the Consciousness Megaverse had prepared for the High Seraph and the most powerful experts in the Spirit Nidus. It would be difficult for anyone to return from the grave that had been dug.

No matter how confident Lu Yin was in his strength, he knew that he was far from surpassing the High Seraph.

The Consciousness Megaverse had a clear understanding of the High Seraph’s incredible power, and yet they had specifically prepared a trap for him. If not even the High Seraph could escape, then it was even less likely that Lu Yin would be able to succeed.

If Boundless joined this expedition, they would also be in grave danger.

As far as the High Seraph was concerned, his order prevented Boundless from causing trouble in the Spirit Nidus in his absence. Even if Lu Yin left, Boundless had other powerhouses whom the Spirit Nidus would struggle to suppress. To begin with, there were a large number of powerful cultivators aboard Boundless, but the Origin Progenitor was also one of them.

The fact that the High Seraph was willing to take Boundless to the Consciousness Megaverse suggested that, even if the megaverse was defeated, he had no intention of resetting it. How could Boundless be allowed to reap the benefits of such an event?

Besides that, Boundless was an unpredictable factor. Who could guarantee that those people would not cooperate with the Consciousness Megaverse and fight against the Spirit Nidus?

Using only Old Yu’s predictions as a foundation for decisions was pointless, as they were nothing more than mere theories.

There was also a possibility that the High Seraph intended to use Boundless as cannon fodder or simply exploit the vessel while attacking the Willbound Expanse. Lu Yin had developed several suspicions.

Boundless was valuable enough that it could be used as bait.

First, Ru Mu had been targeted, and after that, all of Boundless. It appeared that the High Seraph had several plans in the works, rather than simply remaining passive as he had in the past.

The High Seraph did not want to be reactive, and Lu Yin was even less inclined to take such a position.

Going from a reactive position to a proactive one was something that Lu Yin had accomplished multiple times in the Tianyuan Megaverse. However, it was far more difficult to accomplish that in the Spirit Nidus, as Lu Yin could not be omniscient or omnipotent.

Unless... Maybe I could be again...

A thought sprouted in Lu Yin’s mind. Without hesitation, he entered seclusion and raised a hand to roll his die.

He watched as it slowly came to a stop, showing four pips: Timestop. Perfect. What he needed was precisely time.

The scenery changed before his eyes, and he spent nearly a year within his Timestop Space. Still, it was not enough. He rolled the die again, continuing. However, his second roll ended up as Possession. Lu Yin searched for a conscient that he could Possess, but even after a while, all he found were a few dim, weak conscients. Possessing such beings was pointless, so he returned to his own body and rolled the die again.

In the blink of an eye, three months had passed.

While the rest of the megaverse experienced three months, much longer had passed for Lu Yin. He had rolled Timestop fifteen times, which amounted to nearly fifteen years of seclusion. Finally, he had completed his idea, creating a battle technique that linked his body with a conscient.

This battle technique required synchronization with a conscient. It was not difficult to learn, but the real challenge lay in finding a powerful conscient to fight alongside.

This technique... was Lu Yin’s potential path to omniscience.

He could only Possess a conscients in the Spirit Nidus, and since that was the case, he needed to spread the conscients across the megaverse. The more there were, the more information he would gain access to.

Overall, there were very few conscients in the Spirit Nidus. But for Lu Yin’s purposes, he needed to draw out the conscients who were hidden in the various parallel universes.

After emerging from seclusion, Lu Yin publicly announced a new battle technique born from his understanding of consciousness. He named it Mind-Spirit Link. As the name suggested, it allowed a conscient to support and move in tandem with the cultivator, creating an effect similar to an external avatar. However, control of all actions remained fully in the cultivator’s hands.

Not only did Mind-Spirit Link eliminate the risks that came from a poor synchronization, but it also removed the possibility of the conscient’s betrayal. Most importantly, the technique more than doubled a person’s combat strength.

The stronger the conscient that one partnered with, the greater the potential increase in strength.

This Spirit Warrior battle technique quickly spread from Boundless, and it soon swept through the entire Spirit Nidus, inciting endless debates.

Most people did not care about the technique, as they lacked the necessary slave conscients.

Many claimed that Boundless was trying to curry favor with the Spirit Nidus in order to avoid being forced to join the expedition to the Consciousness Megaverse.

This excuse conveniently saved Lu Yin the trouble of explaining himself. Yes, what people suspected was the truth. The more selfish his motives appeared to be, the more comfortable the Spirit Nidus would be.

Most cultivators in the Spirit Nidus would never obtain a conscient. However, because conscients had such long lifespans, many were passed down as treasured inheritances. For this reason, there were a number of people who were able to use an enslaved conscient for Mind-Spirit Link.

These individuals soon started cultivating Mind-Spirit Link. Regardless of whether it proved useful, the technique was easy to learn, so people thought that they might as well try it out.

The results were that their strength skyrocketed, which led to a major commotion.

As more cultivators followed suit, the commotion in the Spirit Nidus intensified. The greatest impact came after the Augury Domain’s young Si Tu defeated the Cloudcrane Domain’s Crane Apprentice. The results of their battle spread like shockwaves that soon engulfed the entire Spirit Nidus.

Si Tu and Crane Apprentice had always been evenly matched, with neither able to gain an advantage over the other. However, after Si Tu learned Mind-Spirit Link, he fought against Crane Apprentice, who simply relied on his conscient for combat assistance. The difference between the two was instantly apparent. The younger Si Tu’s combat strength had more than doubled. It was an astonishing increase, and Crane Apprentice was left utterly helpless.

As time passed, more and more cultivators who owned conscients started to cultivate Mind-Spirit Link. With the expedition to the Consciousness Megaverse spoon approaching, the possibility of greatly improving their combat abilities subsequently meant a greater chance of surviving, as well as more opportunities to earn greater military merit.

This was the ideal time to have a breakthrough.

Mind-Spirit Link quickly became a fad across the Spirit Nidus, and countless people started searching for conscients. Unfortunately, due to the fact that everyone was hoping to improve their own strength, no one was willing to sell any conscients.

Many people looked to the Consciousness Domain, hoping that a batch of conscients would be put up for sale.
