Chapter 2039: Counter-Counter Attack.
While Zylarith and Sharnoth were busy commanding their subordinates, instructing them on how to use the artifacts they were providing and coming up with a plan to counter Nux,
The man responsible for such unrest was busy with something entirely different.
His body stirred slightly, his eyes were still closed, his body, however, could sense a familiar coldness beside him. A soft, delicate hand rested on his chest, his eyes opened on their own and he was greeted by the sight of Melia nestled in his arm, her long black hair spilling across the pillow.
She looked… serenely beautiful.
It was so ridiculously charming that on one side, Nux wanted to grab this woman and devour her, but on the other side, he wanted to continue watching her sleep.
Her breathing was calm and soft. So rhythmic that Nux felt lost in that rhythm, but suddenly, as if sensing Nux’s gaze, her eyes fluttered open.
She stared at her husband and very quickly, a slow, sleepy smile full of affection appeared on her face.
“Morning,”
She whispered in a light, sleepy voice.
“Morning,”
Nux replied, brushing a strand of hair from her face, wanting a full look and truly appreciating the beauty in front of him.
Unable to control himself, he wrapped his hands around her and pulled her close, feeling her cold body.
Melia’s smile became warmer, she too, pushed herself close to him, her fingers lightly tracing circles on his skin.
“You’re warm.”
She muttered.
“It feels good.
You did a good job as my personal heater.”
Nux chuckled at that and,
“Shouldn’t you reward me then?”
He obviously wouldn’t let go of this opportunity.
“Request what you want, I am feeling generous today.”
Melia’s reply came faster, it was almost as if she was expecting this.
“I thank you for your generosity.”
Nux’s grin widened, his canines elongated into fangs and,
Pierce
He started drinking her blood.
“Anh~”
Melia moaned ever so lightly, soon, her fangs appeared as well and,
Pierce
She bit back.
For the next few minutes, the couple’s bodies rolled over each other as they devoured each other. Only once they were satisfied did they finally stop, with Melia resting on top of Nux’s body while he continued to knead her body, holding her as if she was the most precious thing in the world.
After a minute-long silence where no party said anything,
“Are you going to do the same thing today?”
Melia opened her eyes again and looked up at him.
“Of course.”
Nux nodded, his tone casual but steady.
Melia stared at him for a moment and then,
“Do you think it’s working?”
She questioned.
“I know it is.”
Nux answered confidently as he kissed her forehead.
“It’s strange because we cannot directly see her reaction.”
Melia muttered softly.
This obviously wasn’t the first time she had experienced war. As a member of the Party ‘The one who does all the work and deserves to be rewarded’, she had participated in her fair share of them.
This, however, was the first time they were using such… cold tactics in the war.
Melia knew and understood fighting, killing, and blood, however, psychological warfare wasn’t her strongest suit. The fact that they could not see the effect of their actions made things much more difficult for her.
Yes, the Vampire was afraid…
They were up against a High-Level World, it was normal to feel intimidated.
Their enemy was stronger than them when it came to direct battle and this was worrisome.
But…
“Don’t worry.”
Nux, who understood her feelings, tightened his hug around her and assured her.
“The only being that is a threat to us is Sharnoth. It doesn’t matter if she is using Chaos to stop me from knowing what is happening in Khaemorr, she cannot protect and be present in all the worlds in her Faction at the same time.
There is nothing she can do,
Everything will go just as we expect it to.”
Yes, Nux was that confident.
And his confidence did reinforce Melia a little, she made herself more comfortable on top of him and closed her eyes.
“You know I need to leave, correct?”
Nux questioned.
It was time to attack the worlds again. He did this all at a fixed time to create a pattern, a way for the enemies to predict his actions, and while it did give his enemies a certain advantage,
It also built fear.
Especially when this matter explodes amongst the worlds in Sharnoth’s Faction.
‘It is time, who will be next?’
‘Will it be ours?’
‘What if it is us?’
‘What are we going to do?’
Such questions would keep them tense the moment the hour approached, the last-minute panic would spread even more chaos and fear.
It didn’t matter if these worlds got attacked or not, the fear they would feel would be nothing short of overwhelming.
Yes, this was Nux’s grand plan.
And for the first 3 days, he had left it to his subordinates to go and attack the selected worlds and did not interfere himself,
Later, however, things changed. Nux knew the enemy would retaliate in one way or the other, so he had taken matters into his own hands for the last five days,
And today, it finally happened.
“Huh?”
Nux, who was now standing in front of one of the target worlds, frowned as he realized something.
“The world’s infested with Chaos Energy, I cannot sense anything.”
He commented out loud.
“What are you going to do now?”
Melia questioned with a worried look on her face.
It wasn’t just this world that was infested with the Chaos Energy, all the worlds belonging to the Khaemorr Faction were the same.
The enemy had made their move and now,
The ball was in their court.
Any one of these worlds could have strong reinforcements capable of taking Nux down. Sure, the chances of them encountering such reinforcements were rare,
After all, only Sharnoth herself could actually take Nux on.
So basically, the chances of Nux being taken out were one out of millions, but Melia didn’t want to take that chance either.
After all, they had no clue what other tricks these people might have up their sleeves.
But then,
“Heh.”
Nux laughed.
“They acted much more swiftly than I expected.”
He admitted.
“But…
They did not consider my disposable pawns.”
Nux’s grin widened as he raised his hand and about fifteen Transcendents appeared around him.
“Attack.”
He ordered and without any hesitation,
Fifteen Transcendents were sent to a Lowest-Level World, ready to annihilate it through and through.
It was time for Counter-Counter Attack.
