Chapter 1656: Chapter 1516: Sea of Exile
The Sea of Exile is a notorious treacherous sea among the Sea Race, with its bizarre climate, chaotic tides, and frequent occurrences of great tsunamis, submarine volcanoes, and thunderstorm outbreaks.
This type of sea area is fundamentally unsuitable for life, especially for those young Soul Pets. Even with parental protection, the mortality rate is several times higher than in other maritime zones.
In addition, such seas are often inhabited by brutal marine species that prey on the weak, leading to the Sea Race’s rule never being able to extend over these territories.
As a result, this area became a Sea of Exile, where members of the Sea Race who were unruly or committed heinous offenses were usually thrown into this ungoverned Exile Sea.
That being said, the abilities of the Catastrophe Sea Demon are indeed exceptional; this creature is practically a leader of sin. In a wild place like the Sea of Exile, the Catastrophe Sea Demon was even able to take control and rule.
In fact, in its confrontation with the East Sea, the Catastrophe Sea Demon was continuously expanding its influence by taking over these Exile Sea areas before gradually annexing the official maritime territories. Its ability to bewitch rivals that of some human cult leaders.
The Sea of Exile is located to the north of the East Sea, slightly closer to the territory of the North Wasteland Insect Species World Dynasty.
It should take about ten days for Chu Mu to fly there.
Without Ye by his side, it’s indeed exhausting for Chu Mu to travel on his own. Even if he’s faster at full speed than Ye, he can’t compare to Ye’s stamina.
Recalling the words of Elder Li, Chu Mu felt somewhat comforted because the potion Elder Li prepared for Ye would not only remove Ye’s cadaverous properties but also greatly benefit Ye’s stray bloodline Demon Spirit. During Chu Mu’s time with the Sea Race, Elder Li would replace Chu Mu in training Ye.
The Heavenly Realm is a Nation of Demon Spirits, and training there would surely be far better for Ye than following Chu Mu running around at sea.
One only needs to look at Mo Ye’s condition to know that the ocean is truly troublesome. Usually fond of perching on Chu Mu’s shoulder, Mo Ye, ever since Chu Mu arrived at sea, adamantly returned to the Soul Pet Space to sleep, refusing to come out on land and constantly drowsily opening its eyes. On rare occasions when it comes out, it acts like a spoiled young lady, whimpering incessantly.
Chu Mu had wanted to leave Mo Ye and Ye together to train in the Demon Tomb, but doing so would tie up three of Chu Mu’s soul slots.
The Good and Evil Queen, who occupies a slot in Chu Mu’s soul all day, plus Ye who needs to train in the Demon Tomb, and adding Mo Ye on top of that, would bring Chu Mu’s Soul Pet Master summoning capabilities down to nearly that of a mere Soul Warrior; how could he afford that?
The most important thing is that the Catastrophe Sea Demon has now started to circulate bounties everywhere, determined to eliminate Chu Mu, this meddlesome guy. Chu Mu’s journey to the Sea of Exile is tantamount to burrowing into the domain of the king himself. Without a few Soul Pets to summon, Chu Mu would also feel uneasy.
“Brother, are we going to see Little Huangquan?” Ning Man’er asked with her head tilted.
“Yeah. Are you coming with me, or returning to New Moon Land?” Chu Mu asked.
Ning Man’er has been inseparable lately, following Chu Mu running around within the Sea Race territories. Interestingly, Ning Man’er has even taken a Sea King as her Guardian. Chu Mu hasn’t quite fathomed the Sea King’s strength yet; according to the Fishman Princess, he’s a Sea King with quite a background.
Ning Man’er now has five Guardians. One of the lost Guardians on the Wupan Continent hails from the Silent Forest.
Another is from the Dragon Race, also one of Ning Man’er’s Guardians, but the whereabouts of that Dragon Race are unknown; Ning Man’er thinks it might be in the Ten Thousand Dragon Abyss.
Then there’s the Shadow Guardian – the Dark Emperor, who is transformed into Ning Man’er’s shadow, constantly following her wherever she goes.
The Dark Emperor has silently fulfilled his former master He Cang’s last wish, vigilantly protecting Ning Man’er.
Next is the newly-acquired Sea King – a valiant King of Warriors well-known among the Sea Race, whose strength exceeds that of a Demonized Chu Mu. This makes Chu Mu quite frustrated; while he went through great pains to subdue a Little Huangquan, running around here and there, Ning Man’er casually interacted with a Sea King. After a few tours through the maritime territories with him, the Sea King agreed to become her Guardian…
The last is Chu Mu himself.
Chu Mu is different from the previous four Guardians. He signed an Equal Soul Contract with Ning Man, and also happened to be the first Guardian to sign a soul contract with her.
Guardian might be the term, but Custodian is more apt to describe the role, given that until the World Monarch Tree is fully formed, the responsibilities of a Custodian far outweigh those of a Guardian. Of course, once Ning Man’er’s powers mature, Chu Mu naturally stands to gain the most benefits.
…
Chu Mu had seen chaotic seas before, but upon arrival at the Sea of Exile, he couldn’t help feeling somewhat helpless when he saw the sea area, which could be described as utterly devastated.
The ocean should be a deep blue, and the water should be pure, just as humans like cleanliness, the Sea Race shares the same sentiment; seawater is to them what the air is to humans.
To describe the filth of the Sea of Exile means one could only compare it with dust-filled and stench-ridden human cities.
Whether on the sea level or in the depths of the ocean, there are always all sorts of things floating around: rotting corpses, shattered scales, poisonous plants, and squid creatures spurting vile liquids.
Even at sea level, a thick layer of strangely smelling air envelopes the area. Any seabird flying through it would likely be asphyxiated and fall into the sea, further adding feathers and more rubbish to the exceedingly filthy waters.
In the Coral City of the East Sea, the water was almost free of impurities, allowing visibility for great distances even deep underwater.
But in the Sea of Exile, to be honest, Chu Mu no longer had the courage to dive in. It was akin to jumping into a muddy bog.
“Little Huangquan being exiled here must feel so pitiful,” Ning Man’er said, pinching her nose.
One could imagine the feeling of being downgraded from an elegant, clean, and luxurious city to a trash dump. And who knows if this filthy sea water is poisonous; consuming creatures and marine plants soaked in this water is practically shortening one’s lifespan.
“Brother, where is Little Huangquan?” Ning Man’er asked.
“Lan Que said it’s been demoted to the location of the Obstinate Sea Stone in the Exile Sea. Let’s capture a Sea Race member and ask for directions,” Chu Mu said.
Chu Mu truly lacked the courage to dive into such a sea; fortunately, he directly activated his Space power and forcibly parted the waters beneath his feet!
The sea was split open by Chu Mu’s hand of space, and the polluted ocean slowly gaped apart, revealing a shocking fissure.
The surrounding Sea Soul Pets, scared by the abrupt partitioning of the waters, fled in all directions, while Chu Mu locked onto a One-horned Sea Serpent with his Soul Sense.
“You’ll do.” Chu Mu’s gaze flashed as he forcefully captured the fleeing One-horned Sea Serpent, yanking it right out of the filthy waters.
The One-horned Sea Serpent hissed in terror, but no matter how it writhed, it was unable to break free from Chu Mu’s hand of space.
The One-horned Sea Serpent was quite large, at least a hundred meters long. When underwater, Chu Mu mistook it for a small serpent, never expecting that upon pulling it above sea level, it would occupy such an expansive space. Next to it, Chu Mu and Ning Man’er seemed like tiny creatures.
“Little sea serpent, don’t be afraid. Sister has a question for you,” Ning Man’er said to the One-horned Sea Serpent with a friendly smile on her face.
The One-horned Sea Serpent must have been very frustrated. It had been in the Exile Sea for over a hundred years, and had now reached the status of a Dominator of a sea area, with the strength of an Intermediate Lord Level.
It thought it could be imperious and domineering, but today, it had the misfortune of being pulled out like this. The grand bully of the Exile Sea, the One-horned Sea Serpent, now had to comply as obediently as a docile earthworm.
“Do you know where the Obstinate Sea Stone is, and if there’s a Little Huangquan there?” Ning Man’er inquired.
The One-horned Sea Serpent probably wanted to cry. These two humans had opened such an exaggerated gap in the ocean and dragged it, the big bully One-horned Sea Serpent, into the sky, just to ask for directions?
Any adult sea monster would know the answer to such a question; why snatch him, a Dominator-level sea serpent, of all creatures!
“Brother, it says it knows, approximately at…”
“Let it take us there,” said Chu Mu.
Ning Man’er quickly nodded and said to the One-horned Sea Serpent, “Little sea serpent, please take sister there.”
…
The once formidable Sea Serpent had suddenly become a mount for Chu Mu and Ning Man’er.
Neither Chu Mu nor Ning Man’er wanted to enter the sea, so they had the One-horned Sea Serpent gallop directly across the surface of the water.
Ning Man’er stood on the head of the One-horned Sea Serpent, and if it weren’t for the stench pervading the ocean, riding the serpent over the sea might have been quite enjoyable.
“Brother, it says that there is indeed a locked-up creature near the Obstinate Sea Stone, but it doesn’t know if it’s Huangquan,” she relayed.
“Locked up?” Chu Mu was puzzled. Could it be that the royal sea patrols had added a layer of movement-restricting chains to Little Huangquan when they threw it into this sea area?
“Yeah, not long ago, a Blood-eating Iron Whale was cleaning out the area around the Obstinate Sea Stone, driving away all the marine life that lived there. Little Huangquan was probably chained up, unable to leave, and got into a battle with it. It’s uncertain if the Blood-eating Iron Whale might have killed it,” she explained.
“The Blood-eating Iron Whales are vicious creatures controlled by the Catastrophe Sea Demon, which must be establishing dominion over this sea area. I hope nothing happened to it,” Chu Mu said with concern.
“Indeed. With so much of Little Huangquan’s power sealed, it definitely couldn’t beat that mighty whale. Being locked up, it couldn’t even escape,” Ning Man’er said somberly.
(Today, upon a glance, I accidentally wrote 5 million words, which just happens to total the combined word count of my previous two novels. I had anticipated that this book would be long, but it’s still somewhat unbelievable to actually reach 5 million words! This is the third chapter for today, a commemoration… Also, seeking votes for the end-of-month tickets, seeking monthly tickets!!!!!!!!!) (
