Chapter 1409: Sent
"Send it! Bring everything!" Oscar shouted, commanding his people to send the chart outside.
Outside the Demon Banner Army stood a small army that the king sent to retrieve the information.
Meanwhile, the inside of the Demon Banner Army had been infiltrated by a lot of spies from the royal family. They were searching for any traces of the documents, but for some reason, they couldn’t find anything.
It might be as Oscar said, there was no document about the royal family’s corruption.
In that case, Oscar might have sent them everything.
The royal family obviously didn’t want to antagonize Oscar very much. They could infiltrate the army and somehow burn everything to the ground so that all traces were destroyed, but Oscar would definitely know they were the culprits.
At that time, Oscar might openly join Noel to face them. With the royal family losing the army, the public trust would become an all-time low.
There was no way they could win against them. In fact, a lot of people might side with Noel and Oscar to overturn the kingdom. Hence, they chose not to do anything other than check the documents.
That was also why Oscar chose to turn a blind eye to their actions as long as they left after this without making a mess.
Oscar was adept at defensive warfare, but politics and espionage were more of Milfa’s expertise.
Hence, Oscar wasn’t prepared to deal with them. There was nothing he could do other than agree to this term.
Noel seemed to have seen through this result a long time ago. He wanted this to happen, which forced Oscar to send such information to the third princess.
With Laufey siding with him again, there was a chance Laufey was the one writing those documents and putting them there before they raided the organization. It would make it look like they found proof from the organization.
Nevertheless, with them sending the proof to the third princess, the kingdom would soon be in turmoil. The calm everyone had been experiencing lately would now be destroyed by a storm... a massive storm.
...
"This is..." The third princess looked surprised after seeing what she received.
Countess Christina delivered it for the third princess since Duke Lorelei was not here.
"Commander Oscar sent me this? We’re supposed to have no contact... No, the nature of this plan..." She soon realized what was actually going on.
Christina nodded with a solemn expression. "I am afraid this is Marquis Ardagan’s doing."
The third princess didn’t know what to say. The proof in her hands was so solid that even these people couldn’t deny it. It was a weapon strong enough to destroy anything they had prepared.
If wielded correctly, they could take over the royal family.
"What do you think?"
"If Your Highness would like to use it, we’re prepared to mobilize our force. However..."
The third princess closed her eyes before letting out a sigh. "I have always thought of myself as a puppet king on this board, but it turns out... for Marquis Ardagan, I might be nothing more than a pawn."
Countess Christina shook her head. "Please don’t say such a thing, Your Highness."
"It is true. You might look at me as if I have talents in ruling over the kingdom, but I am, at best, an ordinary princess. It’s just... my brothers, my sisters, or even my father are too low to be compared." The third princess fell silent for a moment. "Still, this kind of proof is something I can use.
"I don’t care if he thinks of me as a mere pawn. I just hope that there will be a sovereign in the future that can make the kingdom prosperous."
"I understand. I shall inform our people to start advancing toward the capital."
"No." The third princess shook his head. "We’re not ready yet."
"Mhmm?" Countess Christina raised her eyebrows.
"It’s not that I underestimate you, Countess Christina. However, the royal family still has the marshal. We can only hope Duke Lorelei manages to succeed this time. If he doesn’t, we won’t be able to cleanse the royal family.
"Tell our people to stand by. We’ll only move out once Duke Lorelei returns."
"Understood..." Countess Christina nodded.
"In the meantime..." The third princess glanced to the side as if she was looking at something beyond what was in her vision. "It’s better for us to unify the western lords."
"Western lords?"
"Yes. Do you know what the biggest obstacle is in getting the throne? Is it the royal faction? No. The biggest hurdle is my uncle, the third prince.
"He, too, wishes to take the throne for himself. That’s why if I dare to make a move, he will make his move.
"That’s why we won’t be dealing with just my father and the royal faction. We’ll have to deal with the third prince’s faction, which has been hiding this whole time.
"By unifying the western lords, we can show that we’re not entirely foolish by marching straight to the royal family to Marquis Ardagan.
"In that situation, Marquis Ardagan will definitely make a move against my uncle. Once he stops him, we’ll head straight to the royal palace and take the throne."
Christina could finally see the situation. Considering the third prince had rendered the Tower Association, specifically the Magic Lord, useless, it was clear that he was the biggest obstacle.
The third prince might already have the necessary force to take the throne, but he hadn’t done it yet.
That might be due to either the Supreme Devil Organization or Marquis Ardagan. Now that the organization was gone, the only one that could stop him was Noel.
That was why the third prince planned to win in this engagement if possible. Once he managed to deal some damage to Noel, he would then take the throne.
What they should have done was increase their power. Even if Noel could stop the third prince, the latter wouldn’t admit defeat so easily. So, there was a chance he would come straight toward her.
She needed power to even stop a small attack from the third prince. And that was where the western lords came in.
The third princess was preparing everything to finally get the throne and liberate this kingdom.
