Norman never regretted any decision he made in his life.
Until today.
He admitted to making some bad choices in the past, which led to him suffering their consequences. But for the first time in his life, he felt regret. Why did he agree to come with Aaron Ashford to wipe out the Leventis Family?
The two Monarchs had been confident that they could deal with whatever the Leventis Family would throw at them.
Given the situation now, they were obviously both wrong.
They failed to handle it, and now, Norman was running away to save his own life, leaving his people behind without caring one bit whether they lived or died.
Unfortunately, Lady Callista wasn’t a good-natured person.
“Since you came here to kill, then you should be prepared to die,” Lady Callista said in disdain. “Stop running and face me, you coward!”
“Callista, let’s talk about this!” Norman shouted back as he summoned his Avatars to block the old lady’s pursuit, hoping it would buy him more time to increase their distance.
But Lady Callista made short work of the Rank 7 Sovereigns that Norman had summoned to block her path.
Unlike Arthur, who specialized in brute strength, Lady Callista specialized in speed.
However, she was purposely keeping her distance from Norman for two reasons.
One, she was certain Norman still had a trump card he had yet to show.
And second, she wanted the Monarch to feel despair before she gave him the killing blow.
“Don’t force me, Callista!” Norman roared in anger. “There is still time to talk about this!”
“The only person you’ll be talking to is the Ruler of Hell,” Lady Callista replied. “Make sure to tell him all the sins that you committed in this world, you scum!”
Norman knew he couldn’t run away forever, so he decided to go all out to kill the hateful woman who had forced him into a corner.
“Die!” Norman summoned a black sword, emanating a black mist.
Lady Callista felt a slight tremor in her body after seeing the blade, which reminded her of the illness that nearly killed her in the past.
The poisoned blade that had injured her had caused her to lose her strength and hope of ever recovering.
Only Arthur and Hans didn’t give up hope, untiringly looking for anything that might cure her.
Fortunately, Thirteen knew how to deal with the poison that had spread inside her body.
If not, Lady Callista might have died before Thirteen could even return to Pangea after his First Wandering.
“So it was you!” Lady Callista roared in anger. “You’re the one who sent that Assassin to kill me!”
“Now that you know, do you still want to fight?!” Norman glared. “I don’t know how you are able to cure the poison, but I guarantee you that this time, you will not live past this day if you cross me!”
The black mist could corrupt the mind and body of anyone exposed to it.
Since Norman took it out, its mist had started to spread in the surroundings. Just being in the presence of the sword made Lady Callista’s face turn solemn, for she knew better than anyone how dangerous the poison was.
“Last chance, Callista,” Norman said. “If you agree to turn a blind eye on what happened today, I promise the Stallard Clan will not find trouble for the Leventis Family ever again!
“I will also compensate you for everything that happened, and we can also become steadfast allies. What do you say?!”
“Go to hell!” Lady Callista replied as she swung her two short swords, forming an X that flew toward Norman’s direction, dispelling the black mist that blocked its path.
“So you chose death!” Norman sneered as he blocked his opponent’s attack with his own. “Fine. I’ll kill you first!”
At that exact moment, the sound of the rotors from helicopters spread in the surroundings.
Five helicopters, which belonged to Zion, circled the place where the two Monarchs were fighting.
Norman gave them a brief glance before shifting his attention to his opponent.
But just as he was about to go for the kill, the sound of weapons and missiles being fired reached his ears.
The five attack helicopters, which were being controlled by Athena, provided support fire for Lady Callista.
At first, Norman thought he could easily block their attacks.
But it didn’t take long for him to realize that the ammunition loaded into the attack helicopters was special ammunition used for killing Rank 7 Sovereigns and below.
“Nghhh!” Norman was blown back after he tried to block a rocket that was targeting his body.
His armor was now starting to crack after being hit repeatedly by machine guns, auto cannons, and rockets that rained down on him like rain.
‘Now I know why Zion liked to collect those things,’ Lady Callista thought. ‘They are actually this powerful!’
In just the span of a minute, the entire battlefield had transformed into a land of devastation.
Craters that were several meters wide littered the surroundings, which made Lady Callista almost feel pity for Norman.
She couldn’t help but feel proud that his grandson had made several trump cards to protect the Leventis Family, should it face any kind of danger.
With a wave of her sword, she blew away the dust cloud that fogged the battlefield.
At the center of the devastation, Norman stood but was inflicted with serious injuries.
“Damn you all!” Norman shouted in anger. “Damn you, Aaron! If you want to die, you shouldn’t have brought me with you!”
With a face filled with determination to bring Lady Callista with him to the afterlife, Norman charged at his foe with all the strength he could muster.
Lady Callista knew that this was Norman’s last desperate attack, so instead of clashing with him, she just sneered and backed away.
“Why are you running?!” Norman asked in disdain. “Didn’t you tell me to face you earlier? Where did that confidence of yours go?”
“It’s because someone told me I don’t need to dirty my hands by killing such a disgusting bug,” Lady Callista replied with equal disdain.
When the attack helicopters arrived, she heard a voice inside her head, telling her not to clash with Norman and leave the rest to her.
While she didn’t know who owned the voice, she understood that they were on the same side.
Using her specialty, which was speed, Lady Callista increased her distance from Norman while still keeping an eye on his location.
Norman, who thought that this was the perfect opportunity to escape, stopped pursuing the beautiful woman and ran in the opposite direction.
However, he had only managed to take fifty steps when a beam of light descended on him, making him cry out in pain.
“We confirmed a hit, Sir,” the robot inside Nautilus informed Jubei, who had ordered the attack.
“Did you make sure to lower the potency of the cannon so he doesn’t die?” Jubei asked.
“Yes, Sir,” the robot replied. “Satellite imagery shows that the target’s body is twitching, which is an indication that he is still alive.”
The corner of Jubei’s lips twitched. For some reason, the supposed monotone of the robot sounded rather amused.
Although the cannon used to hit the Monarch was only a sub-cannon, it was still an attack strong enough to turn Norman into ashes if they made a mistake in calculating its strength.
“Show me images of the current Leventis Residence,” Jubei ordered.
“Showing images,” the Robot replied.
Using Athena’s satellite imagery, Jubei saw countless Undead humans killing other humans, making it look like some kind of apocalyptic horror movie.
He also saw Aaron Ashford being slapped repeatedly by the Lord of Death, Erasmus, which meant the fight in the Leventis Main Residence was finally over.
But just to make sure, he asked Athena to show him the image of Zion’s residence to check if his Master’s family was safe.
When Athena confirmed his inference, the High Orc was finally able to sigh in relief.
He then tapped a few buttons on his communicator to report the conclusion of the Monarch Invasion to his Master.
“Master, everything is finished on our side,” Jubei reported.
“Did the Leventis Family suffer any casualties?” Thirteen asked.
“According to Athena, eight people died, and dozens more were injured,” Jubei answered. “But the losses of the Ashford and Stallard Clans are much greater.”
Thirteen nodded. “Good work, Jubei. Make sure to continue monitoring the situation and remain on standby.”
“Yes, Sir!”
“By the way, did you retrieve Exodia?”
“Yes, Sir. I have already called for Lord Metatron to retrieve it for you.”
Thirteen nodded and gave Jubei a few more instructions before ending the call.
As much as he personally wanted to torture Aaron and Norman, he had promised Erasmus, the Lord of Death, that the latter would be the one to deal with the pair to vent out a hundred-year grudge against the two Monarch Clans.
Thirteen agreed to his previous host’s demands and gave him full support to personally avenge himself.
He had made a deal with Laplace Demon and The One to allow Erasmus to leave the Rigel Continent and go to the Aldebaran Continent.
Since the two didn’t want to lose Zion’s cooperation, they agreed on the condition that Erasmus wouldn’t harm the humans and would only act if the Leventis Family were to be attacked by hostile forces.
Thirteen already knew that the two Monarch Clans were planning to eliminate the Leventis Family, so he made all the preparations he could for this moment.
Although he was confident in the arrangements that he had made, he still sent Nautilus back to the Aldebaran Continent as a precaution, just in case a variable appeared.
Now that one of his problems had been dealt with, Thirteen shifted his attention to the war against the Jinns, which had only just begun.
