THE INVINCIBLE FULL-MOON SYSTEM

Chapter 1480 - 1480: Too Far For A Spar

“Do you train? Can you even fight?”

Both questions were genuine questions.

Rex wasn’t saying that to mock Rakha, he was genuinely confused.

Crossing into the Spirit Realm, unconsciously, Rex expected everyone to be at least an expert—in the way of fighting, in martial arts. Ranks heavily depended on talent and birthright in this realm but martial art? It was impartial, favoring those who put in the work.

After all, everyone in this realm should be a lot older than Rex.

A hundred years old is probably considered a toddler.

Casey, Kody, Rakha, Joren—every single one of them is considered the younger generation, but Rex was certain—without a doubt, that they were hundreds of years old. Perhaps, some of them have reached the four-digit mark in age.

Naturally, with such a long time to live, Rex has high expectations for them.

But this? It was surprising to see.

Bam!

In a brutal yet practical move, Rex punched Rakha’s liver, causing him to groan and curl.

Once he saw an opening, he threw a front kick that landed solidly on Rakha’s face.

Despite suppressing his strength to be equal, the kick still sent him stumbling several steps back.

“Are you mocking me?!” Rakha barked, holding his throbbing face.

“It’s the opposite, really,” Rex answered calmly, there was no hint of mockery in his voice. “You don’t know how strong I am, you even got knocked out by me, and you only met me today. You should probe me, not use that kind of sluggish attack.”

“How old even are you?!” Rakha’s face reddened in embarrassment. “Who are you to teach me?!”

“I’m 20 ye-no, I’m 21 years old, but that’s beside the point,” Rex shrugged nonchalantly.

But the onlookers who heard this gasped in shock, twenty-one years old and already stepping into the Immortal Spirit rank is a genius among geniuses. Someone with that kind of talent could only be a literal monster that was raised in the right place.

“21 years old?! He’s a baby!” Kody exclaimed in shock.

Casey was also the same, “Across the empire, I think only Princess Davina could match his talent.”

Naturally, such a revelation sent the crowd into an uproar.

Rex was blessed by the world if he was telling the truth.

“No way, right?!” the fit woman covered her mouth in shock. “He’s 21 years old looking like that? Hey, Joren, do you think he’s telling the truth? If he’s really 21 years old, even the village head is not a match in terms of talent.”

For the fit woman, it was incredibly hard to believe that Rex was only twenty-one years old.

His power, his physique, and even the scars across his body indicated experiences.

If she had to guess, he needed to be at least five hundred years old, but her guess was way off.

“I also don’t know…” Joren answered, but his gaze now turned wary.

Meanwhile, Rakha pointed at Rex incredulously, “L-Liar! You dared lie in front of this many people?!”

“Lie?” Rex raised an eyebrow, finding the accusation laughable. “And why do you think that?”

“Even though you caught me off guard earlier, and I could certainly beat you, there’s no way someone with your level of skill is only 21!” Rakha insisted, his voice laced with disbelief. He felt inferior if that was the case, and he didn’t want that. “No one can be that calm and also precise without centuries of experience!”

Upon hearing this, Rex grabbed his face and laughed aloud.

He couldn’t believe that he was being doubted like this.

But more importantly, he thought the people in the Spirit Realm were more than this.

“Those hundreds of years were wasted on you,” Rex said causally but loud enough for Rakha to hear. “At some point, experience stops mattering. There’s only so much to learn—about the art of fighting in this world. Time doesn’t define mastery, effort does. It doesn’t matter if I am younger and you’re older. I’ve already reached the peak of close-quarter combat.”

“In front of me,” Rex gazed ahead with confidence. “Your experiences meant nothing.”

Clearly, he was still fighting a novice.

Back during his military training, in terms of martial arts, he was taught by all experts—who dedicated themselves to martial arts and managed to finally beat them before going on his first mission.

Rakha, in comparison, would amount to Rex when he was ten years old.

Even his basics were still wrong.

Going against a stranger, one needs to be practical—stick close to the fundamentals.

Only when the opponent is around the same skill level as him—could he use theatrical moves to catch the opponent off guard. If there was a gap in martial arts skills, then sticking to the fundamentals is the go-to fighting style.

Since Rakha didn’t seem to understand that, he was clearly a novice.

Gritting his teeth in anger, Rakha clenched his fists tighter and charged forward again.

He refused to believe that Rex was that much more skillful than he was.

Not pulling anything back, he threw a flurry of attacks, going up and below—aiming to create a sequence of confusion—and catch Rex off guard. But instead of catching Rex off guard, he was tiring himself out instead.

All his attacks were easily dodged and parried.

Having had enough of this, Rex decided to go on the offensive.

Swoosh!

Lifting his front leg, avoiding a wasteful sweep—Rex countered with another front kick.

Despite doing his very best, Rakha was kicked again and fell to the ground.

He tried to recover quickly, but Rex was already right in front of him.

Bam!

Rex drove his fist into Rakha’s gut, backed with nothing but his raw strength, forcing a wet gasp—as saliva sprayed from his mouth. Following that, he snapped his knee into Rakha’s liver, a sickening jolt that made his body lurch.

Then, in a final act of brutality, Rrex launched an uppercut kick.

It was the very same technique Rakha had used to begin the fight, now used against him.

However, unlike Rakha’s uppercut kick earlier—the situation Rex used the kick was perfect.

Rakha was off balance, and his guard was opened.

It made the kick’s chances to land increase exponentially.

Because of those reasons, the kick landed squarely against Rakha’s chin and threw him back.

Crash!

Rex lowered his leg as Rakha crashed right in front of Joren, who was watching the battle intently.

Maybe the rate of growth in spirits’ minds is different than that of the beings in the Mortal Realm. Rex thought as he watched Rakha sit up and grind his teeth in anger, still in disbelief at this situation. It’s the most likely case because this guy is acting like a teenager. No… I think this guy is really like this.

Just as Rakha was about to get up again, a hand grabbed his shoulder.

Rakha glanced over his shoulder and realized that it was Joren.

Seeing that Rakha completely has no chance of beating Rex, which was clear for everyone to see, Joren decided to intervene. He stepped forward, retaining the same polite smile that didn’t reach his eyes, a fake smile, “I don’t think the term was fair. Sparring against Rakha when you’re clearly a senior, that’s called bullying.”

“Do you have a suggestion?” Rex raised an eyebrow.

Despite the tension rising as the people knew how strong Joren was, Rex didn’t seem to care.

He was still relaxed, and his heart rate was still normal.

“Same rules and bet apply, but you should let me represent Rakha,” Joren answered.

“Suit yourself,” Rex shrugged his shoulders. “But no more changes after you lose.”

Upon hearing this, Joren’s expression slightly twitched.

‘Judging from how he talked and moved earlier, he’s certainly strong,’ Joren thought as he raised both hands, preparing to start the spar. ‘He should know that I’m way different than Rakha and yet, he’s still this calm? Is he really that strong?’

As he thought that, Joren channeled his life energy and restricted his rank to the Immortal Spirit 1 rank.

Once he was ready, he paused for a second to deliberate how he would approach this.

During this silent face-off, the onlookers held their breaths unconsciously.

None of them blinked, fearing that they would miss the first move these two were going to make.

Rex remained upright, his hands on his sides, watching Joren with a calm and collected move.

Upon the twitch of a muscle, Joren made the first move.

Swoosh!

In an instant, with a motion as sinuous as a snake’s strike, Joren’s hand weaved through the air.

He struck with lethal precision, aiming at Rex’s eye.

But even as his hand reached closer, Rex didn’t move from his spot.

Joren assumed this as Rex not being able to react in time—but when his hand was about to poke Rex’s left eyeball, his eyes widened. Reaching an inch away from landing, Rex managed to tilt his head to the side and avoided the fatal strike.

Recovering instantly, Joren recoiled his hand as swiftly, but Rex caught it.

“Good,” Rex nodded. “That’s a practical strike, you’re certainly better.”

Upon hearing this, Joren’s eyebrows dipped into a frown as he lashed out more strikes.

All of them were avoided and parried as easily.

Despite having a unique fighting style, emphasizing speed and aim of vital points, Rex could easily stand his ground, ‘Impossible,’ Joren thought inside as he kept on going, changing from attacking with his hands and legs, but none landed. ‘Anyone who fought me for the first time would at least be flustered in the first few exchanges, which would allow me to land a good hit’

‘One that could determine the battle’s flow, but this…’ Joren was not expecting this.

Even though Rakha was beaten badly, at least he thought he could put on a way better fight.

However, reality slapped him across his face.

Joren could now tell their difference in martial arts, he was still lacking, relying too much on his Soul Artifact to fight. It was quite an annoying thing to learn, but what bothered him the most was that Rex was commenting on every blocked or dodged attack.

“Good,”

Swoosh!

“It needs to be faster and have more power, use your hips.”

Swish!

“That’s it, now you’re getting it.”

Every time he said something, Joren’s expression became darker and darker.

‘This is humiliating, I can’t touch him without increasing my rank,’ Joren ground his teeth in anger. His attacks were swift and precise, yet Rex effortlessly kept up, deflecting each strike with the most minimal movement. ‘That calm arrogance of his… It’s starting to get on my nerves.’

Joren made a diagonal slashing motion infused with life energy, but Rex blocked it again.

However, Joren allowed the momentum to carry him as he twisted his hips and did a diagonal axe kick.

It was a smooth transition, and for the first time, he managed to bypass Rex’s defense.

Bam!

Rex was struck by the kick across his face, forcing his face to snap in the other direction.

Seeing this, the Onyx Lotus people punched the air—cheering for Joren.

Managing to land a hit was surprising even for Joren, both his eyes widened in a pleasant surprise.

Recovering from the kick, he leaped back and got into his battle stance again.

On the other hand, Rex reached for the stinging part of his face and realized that he had cut.

He could feel his warm blood through his fingertips.

Something like that shouldn’t faze him, but the air around him suddenly changed, almost as if a switch inside of him had been turned. Rex looked at the blood on his fingertips and saw that there was a tinge of green substance mixed with it.

<Warning: the user has been afflicted by the Green Kapaska Poison>

<Minor paralysis effect has influenced the user’s body>

Upon reading the notifications, Rex’s expression twisted as he didn’t expect this.

He was being kind to teach them and even not resort to violence.

But he was repaid with this.

Linthia, who was watching the spar on the side, sensed the change from Rex and frowned.

She immediately prepared to summon her Soul Artifact, anticipating Rex massacring these people.

“Lesson number two,” Rex suddenly said, his voice was baritone, low, and threatening. He slowly raised his gaze and looked at Joren, who had a smirk crossing his lips, “Know your abilities and don’t force a fight with someone stronger. If you don’t know that already, you have been lucky throughout your life…”
