The Primordial Record

Chapter 1290: Break Your Ego (1)

All the heads of the titan Gothran'Inul focused on Rowan with such totality it almost seemed that Rowan became the only thing in existence, finally the titan sighed, an extremely storage sound that caused the surface and heaven of Doom Star to freeze for a moment, and he shook his head,

"Ah, you are still too young and you don't understand the true nature of reality, however, the fear of the Primes should have been engraved in your blood and the fact that you could break their working means you are extremely abnormal. I know about Singularities, these things were ancient even when I was young, but it would do nothing to protect you against the might of the rulers of reality when they fall upon you. There had been many holders of Singularities in the past, and if they were truly special, these groups should be the ones ruling reality. The Frozen Road is a work of Primordials, what gave you the guts to tamper with them? A Singularity? You foolish child, even thenos here was countless times stronger than you with a Singularity in his grasp and he still fell, who do you think you are?"

The light from the six books was now so blinding that it had completely enshrouded Rowan's figure and he did not reply immediately to the query from the titan before a chuckle escaped from him, his voice still carefree as if he had not understood the ramifications of what the ancient titan had just said,

"Then I guess you are refusing my offer. A shame, that this offer was extremely favorable for you. Then why don't you run along like the scared little titan that you are? There is no wonder you and your kind are extinct, even after death you still lick the boots of the mighty, and refuse to grab for every opportunity that comes your way even if it leads to death. Your fear Gothran'Inul...it stinks. This Era is different from the one you once lived in when Primordials roamed reality, and everything is new now. You could have had the opportunity to rise in this Era, but the fear of the past holds you down. You shall not survive in this Era, Gothran'Inul, you should have stayed dead."

Gothran'Inul snorted, "You will have to do better than that to anger me. In my Era, we were a thousand times more arrogant than you, but the Primes... showed us that before their supreme might, everything is worthless. The goal behind my resurrection at this time was not to fight against those who once laid me low but to look for a path that would lead me to the pinnacle. I have given you wisdom for free but you have spat upon it, which should not surprise me. It is the stubborn fly that follows the corpse into the grave."

"How noble of you." Rowan snickered, "I have certain doubts that you were not clear about. Does taking this path of yours," Rowan asked, his tone holding a mocking lilt, "mean you have given up all forms of risks? How else would you reach for the pinnacle when you are too scared to collect a piece of it before you? Like those in your time, simply born with great power and so did not understand one fundamental rule of nature. Power is not given, it is taken! It is no wonder the Primordials dominated your Era, they at least understood you have to take risks to reach your goals."

Gothran'Inul did not make any movement for a while after Rowan finished talking. Even though the demeanor of the titan had not changed after hearing Rowan's words, all its many blue eyes focusing unblinkingly on him, Rowan knew that he was making this titan agitated, and this was always his intention, just the same way, this titan was trying to make him agitated, with his growing understanding of the higher dimension, shaking the core of an immortal's belief was the greatest possible route in defeating them.

Gothran Inul was attempting to break Rowan's belief in one of his most valuable assets which were his Singularity, the Primordial Record, and even though what he had shown on the surface was the power of the World Stele, this titan was powerful enough to see through the multiple powerful bloodlines inside his body at the glance, and even if he did not comprehend that Rowan had multiple Primordial Bloodlines, he knew of his multiple Wills, which shoujo denote that Rowan's abilities were extremely special.

Rowan did not know if the Eye of Time had informed Gothran'Inul about the Primordial Record or if the titan was somehow able to infer that Rowan had another Singularity, he would always prefer to err on the side of caution and believe that Gothran'Inul knew about the Primordial Record, and so every words that he was speaking was being directed at both the World Stele and the Primordial Record, shattering the foundations of one of his powers.

In the past, such a strategy from the titan would have worked. Rowan did not understand his abilities and those of the Singularities, viewing them as powers beyond his reach, but after becoming a living dimension, and merging a part of his lower dimension with the Primordial Record, he had essentially partially conquered this Singularity, it followed his Will, in essence, Rowan had simply made the Primordial Record one facet of his powers and not the foundations and the World Stele was not his own, and he laid no claim to it.

The words of Gothran'Inul would find no purchase in his heart, but the titan did not know that and Rowan intended to keep it this way. On the other hand, Rowan was attacking one of the greatest flaws of immortals, one that he also had in a certain manner-Ego.

Not even considering the likes of gods and the many random immortals floating around in reality with Egos the size of stars who would never allow anyone to besmirch their name or character, Gothran'Inul, an ancient titan which was the only general term that could refer to these gigantic Old Ones whose presence had been banished from reality and possessed power that could shatter everything in all directions would have an ego that was much greater than any immortal in this present reality.

This was a creature that could roam all corners of reality unchecked and could crush Rowan with a single breath and yet he was being mocked by these same weaklings and offered power as if he did not have enough to tear Rowan apart a million times over. His words to this Old One, considering how weak he was compared to him, was an extremely great insult, one that would see Rowan suffer for countless eternities in the hands of this creature. Even a mortal king would strike down such a person with such malicious tongue for a lesser offense, and Rowan had made many damning accusations against this titan.

However, although not plainly stated, it was inevitable that every Old One was fiercely intelligent. Of course, their nature was intensely primal, and what separated their minds from normalcy and madness was simply... nothing, as no creature in their position could be considered sane, Rowan was not sane, according to the standards of mortals, but they still had a code of conduct that they fiercely followed and protected, because their battles were very deadly and a flawed mind would crack when it needed to be firm.

To gain that firmness of mind, sometimes sanity was not enough, and madness was needed to control such great powers. Madness, and Ego.

Rowan could not break the mind of Gothran'Inul, but he could break his Ego.
