ISEKAI JOURNEY OF THE MAGIC ARCHER

[Eon’s POV: ]

The forest area right outside the gates was pretty normal.

The trees around the gates were all shorter compared to the rest of the trees around the area.

The Mana density in the area was higher in comparison. The plants here were more bioluminescent so at night, this place was pretty bright most of the time.

While the two trees themselves weren’t as noticeable, the things around the place made them look comparatively normal.

However, during the day, the sunlight that illuminated the place was pretty dim.

[{ “Wow…” }]

The Mana out here was comparatively more unstable. Not only was the density of the Mana higher here compared to back home, but the energy stability was way lower compared to inside the tower barrier.

When we entered here, if we did not have protection from all the artifacts and stuff, we would have been affected by the unstable energies instantly.

‘The creatures of the land might have adapted to it, but if someone did not have a unique energy body like mine, they would experience pretty significant reactions to this environment.’

Even Anna would be sensitive to the unstable environment so keeping her inside the vehicle was a good idea.

[{ “We can have ten minutes to look around. However, we must depart on time and reach the first destination point for today.” }]

The trees in the area were pretty dense so the sky wasn’t properly visible. The blanket of leaves was colorful, but in this area, most of it was green.

There were some smaller creatures around us, some plants, some fungi as well. But what caught most of their attention… was a certain flower growing right outside the gate.

[{ “Big brother! Big brother! Look at that pretty flower~!” }]

Anna was obviously attracted to the big golden flower with glowing pollen coming out of it.

These kinds of unique flowers were present inside the tower garden as well, but they were locked away for a good and simple reason.

[{ “It’s highly poisonous, Anna. We shouldn’t go anywhere near that, much less have it.” }]

It was a flower called (Golden death trap). It was a carnivore and ate smaller creatures that got near it.

Some books categorize them as an (Orange) rank creature. They are strong and pretty dangerous, and even to humans like us, these flowers aren’t a very good thing.

[{ “It’s fascinating how something like this is growing right outside our door.” }]

Zoe commented that even though she had known about this flower for a while now. This particular species wasn’t that harmful to us, so we kept it here.

‘We have already removed a lot of dangerous plants from around the area so we aren’t that worried about at least our surroundings.

The same will not be true when we move out from here though so we have to be very careful when moving.’

There is something I want to make sure when we are moving as well… there are many things within the very air of the forest that might be dangerous for some of us.

‘Just like how that certain fertilizer doesn’t go well with Rein, there might be some elements that don’t go well with the others.’

We have accounted for poisons and toxins, but we cannot get right with everything.

We are moving to the lake area some distance away from here.

It had taken me weeks before, but we are going to cross that distance in a more systematic way so it shouldn’t take us more than a few days.

At most, it should take us two days, three tops.

By the time we reached there, we would have seen the darker side of the forest. We would have seen a few dangerous beast territories as well.

The place where the slimes that almost killed me were turned into that corrupt beast would be present in that place as well so I want to show them that place as well.

‘Thinking back, there was a time when I trusted my luck a little too much. I relied on it since I believed I was especially lucky for some reason.’

Had I not believed in my luck and moved with absolute surety that I was going to the right place at the suggestion of the ancient willow, then I don’t think I would have ended up at the tower.

The slimes simply became the guide who led me to her, and it might not have been the same had I not taken those paths.

‘There is something that has always puzzled me regarding this as well.’

Every step I took within the forest, be it meeting Celes, or fighting the creatures as I did or anything that I did afterwards… there have been times when I was unsure of the things that I was doing, yet things ended up happening like that.

I’ve thought about how that might not be all luck. There is something unique about this forest– it leads you to the things that you desire greatly.

I’ve seen that in the behaviors of the creatures, in the way the plants exist in this forest, to how the energies align in a certain way.

Everything that happens in the forest happens for a reason. The Forbidden Forest: this place wasn’t always a forbidden Zone actually.

There is a story about how the forbidden zones came to be, and the story of the great forest goes back to a few thousand years. A forgotten story that I would not have known about had it not been for my master.

‘But let’s think about that some other time.’

I could see Anna. She wanted to come out of the Jeep, her eyes were sparkling as she looked around the magical forest.

She wanted to feel the place like the rest of us, but she wasn’t allowed to come out just yet.

We had to leave quickly so we did not open the doors for her to come out so she silently admired the place from the outside.

[{ “Shall we go now, Anna?” }]

The forest was a big place. A very big place actually.

If one started exploring the forest, they would need at least a few decades to completely explore the forest.

Starting from any end, one would need at least a year to explore one section of one area if we divide all the areas equally.

[{ “Alright big brother. We can go. I wanna see more cool things like this flower~!” }]

I had been in the forest for a few years and yet I wouldn’t say I have explored more than three sections of the middle area of the forest.

I started at a certain point in the center, one of the safest places I would say, and then I moved further to the center where I reached one of the many lakes situated in the central area alone.

Throughout the forest, there are about nine lakes and four of them are in the central area alone, so the forest is a pretty big place.

‘The biggest lake is situated on the southern end. It’s so vast that it could cover two to three small lakes in the central area.’

The lakes in the center aren’t that small either. There are ancient creatures living inside of these lakes so I would never say these lakes are small.

‘There are all kinds of creatures that live in these lakes as well. And life around the lakes is a completely different thing altogether.’

I remember meeting the Golden Deers in the central area. Fern was my first friend that I made over there, I got the [Amrita] from the ancient tree that I still carry around with me.

I remember the dark forest, the absolute nightmare of a place that we will be avoiding this time, and I remember the things that I saw in those places.

[{ “Let’s depart, Zoe. We have a long road ahead of us.” }]

The Jeep runs on a unique energy input that’s a mix of Mana and Solnova. We wanted to make it easier to use but at the same time fast enough for it to keep up with the rest of us.

Zoe and I are the only ones who can drive it for the time being since it requires a lot of control and energy handling, but while we are driving this thing…

-Vroooooooooom!

It doesn’t produce any sound. It doesn’t pollute the environment. It hides its presence with enchantments that replicate the effects of Celes and Rayray’s skills.

With the enchantments around the vehicle, we wouldn’t attract any attention. If there is any obstacle in the path that we cannot cross, we could actually use the unique functions of the vehicle to move like a reptile.

‘We wanted to make it possible for it to shrink down and get bigger or make it possible for it to fly, but all that isn’t really possible for the time being.’

We would have to develop a lot of things to make it anything more than what it currently is.

To just create the enchantments that are attached to it, we had to bang our heads at the various books for days.

Both Zoe and I were confused about how to use them in the way we wanted. It was thanks to the knowledge that we obtained while solving the code those crystal books are written in that we were able to figure out the answers.

‘But it was difficult.’

There was not even a torch of inspiration for us back then. Even sparks had stopped during its creation.

But we somehow found a way to make this work and made a vehicle that could manoeuvre through the complex tree structures of the forest.

[{ “Hehehe~! We are going so fast! It’s soooo fun, big brother~!” }]

The [Jeep] was our masterpiece.

We absolutely adore it. So, it would be pretty painful if we ended up losing it.

‘In this forest, the chances of that happening are pretty high, so we have to be very careful.’

Very, very careful.
