Legendary Broken Player - VRMMORPG

Chapter 845 - 845 - Freefall and Fury

The river’s flow was accelerating, leading straight to a towering waterfall. The drop was dangerously deep—far beyond anything Beebot could handle. If they went over the edge, it would be a disaster. The golem wouldn’t survive the impact, and neither would they.

But jumping off and fighting on foot wasn’t an option either. The sheer number of pursuing monsters meant they’d be overwhelmed in moments. Someone would die. And that wasn’t an acceptable outcome.

Broken’s mind raced, scanning the area desperately for a way out. His eyes darted to the towering riverbanks on both sides, their heights making it impossible to see what lay beyond.

Think. Think. Think!

He had never imagined that, even with a crew of this size, they would struggle so much against a pack of normal monsters—especially when Zepy had spotted even stronger ones from above.

Then, his gaze locked onto something.

A cluster of massive boulders sat precariously at the edge of the upper riverbank.

“Give me an unused weapon—Grill, anyone!” he barked.

Immediately, SexyGrill and the others pulled various weapons from their inventories. Vallrick quickly handed him a sword—an Elite-grade weapon, level 150.

Broken glanced at Vallrick, about to say something, but Vallrick was already ahead of him.

“I don’t use that one. Go ahead—throw it,” he said without hesitation.

Vallrick knew exactly what Broken intended to do.

Without wasting a second, Broken drew out his Golden Bow of Artemis, nocking the sword like an arrow. He pulled the bowstring taut, his muscles flexing as he charged the shot.

Then—he released.

The blade shot through the air like a bolt of lightning, piercing the weak point beneath the precarious rock formation. The impact triggered a violent explosion, sending a shockwave through the cliffside.

Cracks spread across the surface, and within seconds—

BOOM!

The boulders came crashing down.

Tons of jagged rock shattered as they slammed into the river below, creating a thunderous explosion of water and debris. A massive wave surged outward, slamming into the pursuing monsters.

Some creatures were crushed outright, their bodies vanishing beneath the force of the impact. Others were thrown off balance, struggling against the surging water and falling rubble.

It didn’t kill them all—but it didn’t need to.

It bought them time.

Beebot surged forward at full speed, racing toward the river’s edge. The mist of the approaching waterfall was now thick in the air.

They were seconds away from the drop.

Broken turned sharply, his voice carrying over the roar of the rushing water. Everyone had already crawled out of the carriage, now standing atop Beebot, bracing themselves as the golem sped toward the edge at full speed.

“I’m unsummoning Beebot—get ready to jump!” he shouted.

Every pair of eyes sharpened, muscles tensed, and grips tightened as they prepared for what was coming next.

Beebot surged forward, and then—

The ground vanished beneath them.

For a brief moment, the Crawling Carriage hung in the air, weightless against the vast sky. The mist from the waterfall swirled around them, and though this should have been a terrifying moment, a strange exhilaration filled the air.

And then—

Beebot disappeared mid-air.

Their bodies instantly dropped, gravity yanking them downward at breakneck speed. The howling wind roared in their ears, and adrenaline exploded through their veins.

“WHOOOOAAAA!!” SexyGrill screamed, half in excitement, half in terror.

“SHIT—SHIT—SHIT—WE’RE REALLY DOING THIS?!” Vallrick bellowed, his arms flailing.

“HOLY HELL, I HATE THIS!!!” one of the Sexy Killers members shrieked in sheer panic.

“I’M GONNA DIE! I’M GONNA DIEEEEE!!” another wailed.

“SHUT UP AND AIM FOR THE WATER!!”

The powerful waterfall raged beside them, the river below rushing up fast. They cut through the mist, plummeting straight toward the turbulent waters below—no turning back now.

Broken had fallen from extreme heights before—more times than he cared to count. But this? This was different. This time, they were plummeting straight into raging water. He had no idea how much of an impact it would have on their Health, but it was bound to hurt.

Anticipating the worst, he quickly summoned the Elder Dragon Tree.

The massive, serpentine dragon made of intertwining branches and glowing emerald leaves burst into existence, immediately twisting and coiling through the air beside them. As they fell, the dragon soared around them, its glowing eyes tracking their descent. Then—

A wave of healing magic rained down.

Golden-green light shimmered through the mist, wrapping around each of them in mid-air. It wouldn’t stop the fall, but at least it would keep them alive when they hit.

Still—

“OH FUCK, WE’RE STILL FALLING!!” one of the Sexy Killers screamed.

“NO SHIT! DO SOMETHING!!” another howled.

“I am doing something—I’M SCREAMING!”

“MIZUKI, TELL ME WE’RE NOT GONNA DIE!” Vallrick shouted.

Mizuki, despite looking a little pale, smirked. “We might! Just don’t land face-first!”

“THAT DOESN’T HELP!!”

The moment of impact rushed toward them—fast. The mist thickened. The roaring of the waterfall drowned out everything else.

Then—

SPLASH—!!!

It felt like hitting solid rock.

For a moment, sound ceased to exist. The world went silent as their bodies smacked against the water’s surface with a force that rattled their bones. Everything blurred—light, sound, sensation—until they were yanked under, swallowed by the river’s powerful current.

They were alive.

But now, the raging water threatened to sweep them away.

Broken kicked hard, breaking through the surface with a sharp gasp. Around him, the others emerged one by one, coughing and spluttering.

“F-FUCKING HELL,” Vallrick wheezed, his face completely drained of color. He clung to a nearby rock like his life depended on it.

SexyGrill, still catching her breath, threw her head back and laughed. “That was AWESOME!”

“You call that awesome?!” one of the Sexy Killers sputtered, spitting out water. “I think my soul left my body!!”

Mizuki pulled herself onto a rock, her grin way too pleased. “Told you we might survive.”

“‘MIGHT’ SURVIVE?!” Vallrick shouted, eyes wild. “You—YOU SAID ‘MIGHT’ LIKE IT WAS NOTHING!”

Another wave crashed over them, forcing them to grab onto whatever they could. The river was still strong, and they weren’t out of danger yet.

But even in the chaos, despite the near-death experience—

Laughter echoed through the canyon.

They leaped across the scattered river rocks, scrambling onto the riverbank before finally collapsing onto the damp ground. Their bodies were still buzzing with the aftershocks of pure adrenaline from that insane fall.

Broken exhaled sharply, rolling onto his back before tilting his head upward. His eyes traced the massive waterfall towering above them—the very thing they had just survived. It was absurdly high. If they had miscalculated even slightly… Well, they wouldn’t be lying here now.

As they caught their breath, the sky above slowly shifted.

The golden light of the sun was fading, casting long shadows over the island. Without even realizing it, they had spent nearly an entire day exploring. And now—night was about to fall.

One by one, they began checking over their injuries. Spells and potions restored their battered Health, healing both the wounds from battle and the brutal impact of their landing.

Once they were stable again, Mizuki stood up and pointed toward a direction past the river.

“We’re heading that way,” she said.

Her finger aimed at a dense section of trees along the river’s edge. Beyond them lay a wide clearing that seemed to lead deeper into the island’s core.

They had no concrete goal—no specific mission here. But the main purpose was clear: explore as much of this island as possible and uncover anything of interest. Given how wild and mysterious this place was, it was almost inevitable that they would stumble upon something remarkable.

One by one, the group pushed themselves back onto their feet, shaking off the exhaustion and preparing to move. The air had shifted now—cooler, quieter. As they stepped forward, the darkness of night fully settled over the landscape.

Then—

Something changed.

A strange mist began to rise around them.

Not a slow, creeping fog, but a thick, swirling haze that surged into the air almost unnaturally fast, coiling around their legs and stretching into the trees.

“This is bad,” Vallrick muttered, tightening his grip on his bow.

“It’s gonna be hell trying to see through this,” one of the Sexy Killers grumbled, squinting through the fog.

But sight wasn’t the only thing affected.

Because—

The temperature suddenly plummeted.

A wave of biting cold swept through the area, sinking into their bones in an instant.

They all stopped at the same time.

The realization struck them simultaneously.

This wasn’t normal.

Something was very, very wrong.
