Rumbling sounds echoed from the distance. Though still far away, Long Chen could clearly see the battlefield through the Ten Thousand Dragon Nest’s formations.
Two groups of humans were fighting each other. Corpses littered the ground, and fresh blood soaked the earth red. It was an extremely ferocious battle.
Despite both sides being human, their robes bore no familiar signs, making it difficult for Long Chen to identify their origins.
One side had tens of millions of experts, and they had taken an absolute advantage on the battlefield.
Their opponents were vastly outnumbered. As the battle progressed, their casualties mounted. They struggled desperately to break free of the encirclement, but their escape routes were locked down. Like fish caught in a net, their fate was sealed—only death awaited them.
“Clear River Gate! You’ll meet a wretched end! Just wait for our Heavenly Gate Manor’s retribution!” roared a nine-vein Heaven Saint among the besieged warriors.
Long Chen’s eyes narrowed in surprise. This man had actually condensed nine core veins. However, his aura was unstable, and his Heavenly Doyen energy fluctuations were peculiar. It was as though he possessed immense power but lacked the ability to control it.
A swarm of enemies surrounded him, their strongest being seven-vein Heaven Saints with core veins. Yet even with more than ten of them working in unison, they should have been utterly powerless before a true nine-vein Heaven Saint. Something was clearly wrong.
Long Chen quickly noticed some clues. This man must have used some kind of external force to forcibly break through, either by employing a secret art or encountering a rare opportunity that allowed him to condense nine core veins all at once.
But veins forged in haste required time to grow. Without that crucial period of maturation, he would be unable to wield the power of his nine veins. The opposing faction had seen through his weakness, which was why they had attacked.“Wan Xiaoshan, how can you spout such childish words at your age? Retribution? What retribution? Today, your entire lineage will be wiped out. And even if someone knew—so what? The Clear River Gate has pledged allegiance to Divine Venerate Brahma. Do you really think your Heavenly Gate Manor can oppose the Brahma line? Senior apprentice-brother Fantian De has decreed that anyone who refuses to join the Brahma line in the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm shall be eliminated,” sneered one of the attackers, his voice dripping with disdain.
The speaker wielded an unusual weapon—a flexible sword with jagged sawteeth near the tip and two embedded teeth along the middle. It slithered through the air like a serpent, its techniques ruthless and unpredictable. Among Wan Xiaoshan’s foes, this man posed the greatest threat.
“Fuck your Lord Brahma!” Wan Xiaoshan bellowed, his fury unrestrained. “That rat bastard only knows how to stir internal strife within the human race instead of facing the true enemies! The Heavenly Gate Manor may be small, but we will never submit to that coward’s banner!”
Wan Xiaoshan’s anger distracted him for a split second—just enough for the flexible sword to snake toward his head from an inconceivable angle. Although Wan Xiaoshan managed to duck at the last second, the tip of the sword still cut his forehead, painting half his face red with blood.
“Fool, those who can’t adapt will be mercilessly eliminated. Well, I can’t be bothered to argue with you. Hand over your treasures, and we’ll spare you. You can count on the word of Tian Wenjing,” shouted the attacker.
Long Chen knew that this Tian Wenjing was nothing more than a bandit using Lord Brahma’s name as a shield to plunder at will. He would rob everyone outside the Brahma line without hesitation.
Tian Wenjing was quite a sharp-eyed, sinister fellow. More than just treasures, he coveted the secret behind Wan Xiaoshan’s nine-core vein breakthrough. Though the opportunity couldn’t be replicated, the knowledge itself was invaluable.
“Fuck you, Tian Wenjing! Who would believe a liar like you? I’d sooner believe a dog’s fart than your words. My Heavenly Mountain Manor will not bend! Even if we all die, we die standing!” roared Wan Xiaoshan.
Knowing they wouldn’t survive this plight, Wan Xiaoshan could only kill as many as he could. He directly ignited his heaven vein energy and unleashed a flurry of blows.
Sensing the shift, his attackers immediately switched to defense, unwilling to engage him head-on. As long as they endured this final burst, Wan Xiaoshan’s power would soon wane, and he would be reduced to easy prey.
As expected, in just a few moves, Wan Xiaoshan’s aura plummeted. Resentment and despair clouded his eyes—he knew he couldn’t afford to fall into their hands. If captured, he would be tortured beyond salvation.
Resolving to end his own life, he clenched his teeth.
Just as he prepared to act, a colossal shadow blotted out the sky. A terrifying dragon might radiated from it, sending an invisible shockwave through the souls of every combatant. A suffocating pressure forced them all to halt and instinctively look up.
Hovering above them was an enormous Ten Thousand Dragon Nest—a mobile fortress exuding boundless might. It gave off such immense pressure that it made all of them stop fighting.
Tian Wenjing’s expression darkened. Gritting his teeth, he asked, “The Brahma line is handling an internal matter of the human race. Do our friends from the dragon race have any objections?”
Cleverly, he threw out Lord Brahma’s name while framing the slaughter as an internal dispute. His words served a dual purpose—masking the plundering while simultaneously warning the dragons not to interfere.
However, his calculations crumbled with a single response.
“The Brahma line? More like the dog line. Die.”
Xia Chen’s voice thundered across the battlefield, followed by an ear-splitting explosion.
A golden streak of light pierced Tian Wenjing’s forehead before anyone could react. Only then did the others realize it was a talisman. It emitted divine light, looking like a sharp scale.
“You…” Tian Wenjing barely uttered a word before his body collapsed, lifeless.
After that, the talisman hovering where he was exploded. Countless golden fragments burst outward, each shard accurately piercing the skulls of the surrounding Clear River Gate warriors. In an instant, blood sprayed like a crimson rain.
