Splatters of blood rained down as bodies collapsed one after another. Seeing this, Wan Xiaoshan stood frozen. It felt like he was dreaming.
The expressions on the fallen mirrored Tian Wenjing’s—lost and bewildered. Hundreds of experts, the elite of the Clear River Gate, had been slain in an instant.
For Wan Xiaoshan and the others, this felt like a beautiful dream. But for the surviving members of the Clear River Gate, it was a nightmare beyond reckoning.
“Well done,” praised Long Chen.
Long Chen gave Xia Chen a thumbs-up, genuinely impressed. A single talisman from him had erased an entire force of top experts.
Xia Chen had always been a grandmaster of formations and talismans, yet he had to be frugal with them, as he was constrained by his limited Spiritual Strength. However, after condensing core veins, he had replaced his reliance on Spiritual Strength with Heavenly Doyen energy. With the support of his dragon soul, his core energy had essentially expanded a thousand-fold.
Moreover, the newfound power didn’t cause him to lose control over his talismans. Instead, his mastery over talismans had reached a near-monstrous level.
A single talisman could now tear through the void, distort space, and bewilder all senses. Even a top expert like Tian Wenjing had fallen without so much as a warning from his instincts.
What astonished Long Chen the most was Xia Chen’s absolute precision. When the talisman struck Tian Wenjing, it absorbed his essence blood before detonating, scattering into countless tiny talismans. Despite their size, each little talisman carried deadly power and pierced straight through the skulls of the surrounding enemies with pinpoint accuracy.
With the strongest warriors of the Clear River Gate wiped out, the Ten Thousand Dragon Nest continued its course, ignoring the small fry left behind.“Many thanks for saving our lives! Please, tell us your name! I, Wan Xiaoshan, swear to repay this favor!” Wan Xiaoshan shouted as the Ten Thousand Dragon Nest flew off.
“Help me kill the rest of them,” Long Chen replied casually, not bothering with formalities.
“Hah?”
Wan Xiaoshan was dumbfounded. This was how the other side wanted repayment for saving their lives?
However, the Ten Thousand Dragon Nest was already gone, and Wan Xiaoshan couldn’t ask more questions. Gritting his teeth, he shouted, “Kill them all! Don’t let a single one get away!”
…
“Fantian De really is arrogant. He actually wants to unify the human race in the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm,” said Xia Chen.
Long Chen scoffed. “The Brahma line’s people are all the same. Those so-called sons of Brahma are the worst of them. Their arrogance exceeds their intelligence.”
“Still, with a backer like theirs, they indeed won’t need any brain. We can’t even afford to be that conceited,” Xia Chen said, shaking his head with a bitter smile.
No matter who was in Fantian De’s position, they could get whatever they wanted just by reaching out their hands. Such privilege would dull the mind. When someone never had to think for themselves, their brain atrophied.
As a result, despite clearly sitting in a high and aloof position, those assholes always said and did incredibly stupid things.
“No matter how powerful the backer is, it can still collapse. Nothing is eternal in this world. Borrowed power is just that—borrowed. True power is what you hold in your own hands. No matter how strong Lord Brahma is or how illustrious the Brahma line may be, what does that mean for Fantian De? When I cut off his head, he’ll have the same stupid expression,” said Long Chen indifferently.
Xia Chen chuckled. Having followed Long Chen for so long, he had watched countless so-called geniuses fall at his hands. Their expressions in death were always the same—shocked, unwilling, and suddenly aware of reality.
Thinking about it, it was rather ironic. Why did so many people suddenly wake up to reality right before death? By that time, it was already too late.
“Boss, you’re already a nine-vein Heaven Saint. Now, we can definitely sweep through the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm. We’ll beat the crap out of Fantian De,” said Xia Chen, clenching his fists.
The Dragonblood Legion could not exist under the same heavens as the Brahma line. After all, those bastards had caused the final battle of the Martial Heaven Continent, and the deaths of countless Dragonblood warriors still haunted them. That pain had never faded; it only cut deeper with time.
This time, Xia Chen wanted vengeance. If they couldn’t reclaim what had been lost, they could at least exact interest in blood.
“It won’t be that easy,” Long Chen said gravely, shaking his head.
“What do you mean?”
Xia Chen frowned. He understood Long Chen's power better than anyone. After growing so strong, why did he suddenly seem cautious?
“You were drawn over here to awaken the Emperor reverse scale, so you didn’t encounter any of the monstrous experts of the various races on your way. However, I have. They are truly terrifying,” replied Long Chen, his voice a bit heavy. ꭆ₳ɴо₿ĘṨ
Xia Chen’s breath hitched. He hadn't considered that.
Long Chen had indeed gotten stronger, but his enemies hadn’t been slacking either. Since they all had important missions, they definitely had their trump cards. It wasn’t the threats he could see that concerned him—it was the ones lurking in the shadows.
Long Zaiye, Fantian De, Li Changgeng, Netherdragon Tianfeng—every one of them had something capable of killing him.
Although Long Chen had condensed nine dragon blood veins and was confident that no one in the same realm could match him, his enemies wouldn’t play fair. Once a battle erupted, it wouldn’t be a one-on-one fight. It would be relentless, chaotic, and merciless. Even with his immense power, he wasn’t arrogant enough to believe he could take them all on alone.
And those were just the opponents he knew about. The Heaven Vein Mystic Realm was filled with countless other monstrous existences, so who knew how many experts of their caliber existed?
Long Chen turned to Xia Chen, his voice firm. “No matter how calm things seem, never let your guard down. The higher you climb, the more careful you have to be.”
Xia Chen was shaken by Long Chen’s words. He hadn’t expected the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm to be swarming with such nightmarish foes.
BOOM!
Just as they spoke, a deafening explosion rang out. The Ten Thousand Dragon Nest trembled violently, abruptly halting in midair.
Xia Chen’s eyes widened. At some point, a massive stone wall had appeared before them. Though the Ten Thousand Dragon Nest had smashed through it, the impact had brought it to a stop.
A cold, mocking voice rang out.
“Enemies truly are fated to meet. Long Chen, come out and face your death! If you don’t, I’ll crack open this tortoise shell of yours!”
The voice was arrogant and familiar.
