SYSTEM'S POV

Chapter 879 - 879: Thirteen’s Agenda [Part 1]

When Thirteen’s extra company, Nick and his men, saw what he did as soon as they arrived at Runestone City, they started to question themselves.

‘Why is this kid fighting the Jinns out in the open?’

‘Can’t he act like normal people and use barricades or buildings to fight them safely?’

‘Also, why did he bring the battle to home turf when he only has two hundred people? Is he suicidal?’

‘Is there something wrong with the world? Or are we the ones in the wrong?’

‘Does common sense apply to him? Are we the ones without common sense?’

These questions and more popped up inside their heads.

And yet, the fact remained that the teenage boy and his subordinates had practically eliminated the spiderling swarm with no reinforcements whatsoever! And now, he did it again with the wolf horde.

After bringing his group inside Runestone City for a refuel, he left.

But this time, his entourage had new members—the Bee Bee Cee reporter, her cameraman, and the rest of her crew.

“Sir, are we really going to be fine?” Rein asked Nick, who was seated on the same Humvee.

“You know, I’ve been recently asking myself that same question,” Nick answered. “Tell me, are we really going to be fine?’

Hearing his response, the corner of the reporter’s lips twitched. She was the one who asked the question first.

She was even tempted to retort with, ‘You ask me, but who do I ask?’

But the lady was a professional after all, and she quickly steered the topic in a different direction.

“I’m sure the Commander has a plan,” Rein said. “He didn’t strike me as a reckless person.’

Nick and his men gave the optimistic reporter a pitiful gaze.

‘Oh, you have no idea, you sweet summer’s child.’

The soldiers unanimously decided to not dampen the young lady’s optimism and kept their mouths shut.

Suddenly, a wolf howl broke the silence, making everyone tense.

“Everyone, prepare for battle,” Thirteen’s voice sounded in their intercoms. “Wolves at three o’clock. Miss Reporter, prepare to report live. Don’t worry. My men will protect you.”

After giving his orders, Thirteen and the members of the 69th Battalion fanned out to hold the front lines.

Nick and his men also decided to participate in the battle, uncomfortable with how they hadn’t done anything during the last three expeditions.

Rein ran toward their network van, where her crew hurriedly set up the equipment for broadcasting.

As soon as everything was ready, Rein brought the microphone to her lips and looked at the camera.

“This is Rein, reporting live for Bee Bee Cee News from the outskirts of Runestone City,” Rein reported. “Zion Leventis has launched an attack on the Wolf Den to eliminate the immediate threat in the vicinity. And as you can see behind me, countless wolves are charging straight in our direction.”

Her voice even broke out a bit as she spoke the last sentence. As much as she tried to maintain her composure, the sheer number of wolves running down from the mountain was far more than those that attacked the city earlier.

Forest Wolves, Dire Wolves, Red Wolves, and Black Wolves all charged in their direction, numbering nearly ten thousand.

The Cameraman’s hand shook as he focused his camera on the approaching horde, which looked like an avalanche from a distance.

However, as a professional cameraman, he gritted his teeth and shifted his camera toward the teenage boy, who was mounted on top of Sherry’s Armored Blade Panther.

“Men, do you see those small fries charging in our direction?” Thirteen asked.

“Yes Sir!”

“Well, I don’t want to see them. Make it happen.”

“””Sir, Yes Sir!”””

As soon as Thirteen gave the order, Cristopher raised his right hand.

His Troll Champion, Brutus, appeared in front of him and let out a mighty roar.

A moment later, more monsters emerged around Cristopher, and all of them were Brute Monsters.

The majority of them were Rank 5 Sovereigns, and the rest were Rank 6 Sovereigns like Brutus.

He had thirty of these monsters, each of them very eager to fight.

A Roc, a Flying Serpent, and a Griffin screeched as they circled in the air before heading toward the approaching monsters,

The rest of the 69th Battalion also took off to the skies, riding on their Gyrfalcons.

They were Rank 3 Monsters, stronger than most of the monsters in the horde, so they didn’t hesitate to dive down from the sky and grab a wolf or two with their claws before hurtling them back to their horde.

“Should I help?” Sherry asked Zion.

Thirteen pondered for a bit before nodding in agreement.

“Summon Kong,” Thirteen replied.

Sherry pointed her hand to her right side, and a magic circle appeared in that direction.

Thirteen had given her the ability to tame and form contracts with Monsters.

The name of this Divine Technique is Beastmaster’s Covenant. Unlike Avatars who could be acquired by killing monsters, the Beastmaster could form contracts with beasts and summon them in battle.

These beasts could still remain in their respective territories and live their lives normally.

However, they could answer Sherry’s summons for help whenever she needed them.

She could also let them stay in a special domain she created, similar to Rocky’s Mobile Fortress.

But, it didn’t end there.

She could also take in one quality of the beasts she had formed a contract with. For example, the Silver-Haired Ape specialized in brute strength. Sherry could gain half the strength of her contracted beast, granting her superhuman strength.

The Silver-Haired Ape reluctantly agreed to live in Sherry’s Domain after Thirteen threatened it, saying that Rocky would turn it into a barbecued ape if it refused.

In the past two years, Thirteen made sure his lover would have her own army of powerful beasts.

These beasts would supply her with powerful abilities, allowing her to fight toe to toe with Wanderers who had the Rank of Champions.

The silver-haired Ape was five meters tall, and a Rank 7 Sovereign.

Nick and his subordinates thought Cristopher’s summons were already quite strong, so they were even more impressed when the Silver Ape appeared on the battlefield. Its mere presence raised everyone’s morale.

“Kong, attack them,” Sherry ordered. “Don’t hold back.”

The Ape pounded its chest with its fists before giving a loud roar.

It then sprinted at the charging wolf pack, not caring how many there were.

It was confident in its defenses, so even if it got swarmed, none of the wolves should be able to deal it any serious injuries.

Not wanting to be overshadowed by the Silver Ape, Brutus and the rest of Cristopher’s summons also charged like madlads into the battlefield.

Feeling his blood pumping inside his body, Nick raised his axe and shouted.

“Charge!” Nick shouted before ordering his Rhinoceros to join the battle.

Even the crew of Bee Bee Cee suddenly felt like going to battle and whack the wolves with their equipment.

However, they were able to rein in themselves and focused on capturing the brutal scene in front of them.

Thirteen nodded in satisfaction. This was the kind of atmosphere that he was aiming for.

He wanted to boost the morale of the army by letting them see this kind of scene, which was precisely why he asked the Bee Bee Cee crew to accompany him.

By letting the media take part in such an expedition, more media outlets would reach out to Zion.

This was also part of his plan. He wanted the ones watching from the safety of the Sirius and Aldebaran Continents to see that humanity was actively pushing back the Jinns, not just simply defending cities like what the others were doing at the moment.

The members of the Hero Party were doing their best, but in Thirteen’s eyes, it wasn’t enough.

The High-Ranking Jinns wouldn’t be coming out for the next three months, and the enemies present on the battlefield for now were only Rank 1 up to Rank 5 Monsters.

These monsters posed no threat to the current Hero Party, so Thirteen was trying to provoke Roland to take a more aggressive approach in dealing with the Monsters in the Cygni Continent.

As the battle progressed, the teenage boy received a notification in his communicator, which made the corner of his lips rise.

“You just arrived, and you’re already making waves,” Erica said in her message. “I should have stayed with you instead of staying here in this stinking city and hiding behind its walls.”

Thirteen soon replied to her message, telling her she should just enjoy the show.

Knowing Erica’s personality, she would struggle to sit still after seeing Thirteen actively fight on the front lines.

Mildred and Derek were also very competitive individuals, so they would probably form a team together and conduct their own monster raids.

Shana would probably accompany them to keep them safe.

Once four of the members of the Hero Party moved, Roland and Joshua would have no choice but to follow them in battle.

In turn, that would rally the other members of the Central Government and become a spear that would penetrate the depths of the Monster Armies gathering at the east side of the continent.

With two spears leading the charge, the Griffin Clan and the Prestigious Families of the Cygni Continent wouldn’t be able to remain on the sidelines.

Why? Because their own people would start questioning why they weren’t doing anything, which was part of Thirteen’s agenda.

The teenage boy didn’t want to wait until the Jinns had amassed their forces and descended upon humanity like an unstoppable wave.

Before that wave could even form, Thirteen would smash it to pieces, so when the heavy hitters of the Jinn Army arrived after three months, the small fries were already dealt with.

This would allow the armies to focus their attention on the monsters that posed a real threat to the safety of mankind.
